How to Track a Rocket Launch and Watch the Webcast Live

Confirm the latest target on an official mission page, find the webcast through the provider or NASA Live, and check again close to launch.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To track a rocket launch, confirm the latest target on the launch provider’s or NASA’s official schedule, then use the provider’s mission page or NASA Live to find the webcast. Check again close to launch: target times and stream links can change, and a stream may start before liftoff.

1. Find the latest launch target

Start with the agency or launch provider responsible for the mission. NASA’s Launch Schedule includes a timezone selector and may list a tentative target as “No Earlier Than.” SpaceX publishes mission information on its launches page. Treat a listed date or time as a target, not a guarantee, and revisit the official page on launch day.

2. Find the official webcast

Check the mission page for the provider’s stream, and check NASA Live for NASA coverage and links to channels carrying an event, including NASA+ and YouTube when available. NASA Live displays event times in U.S. Eastern, so note the timezone before converting the time for your location.

Webcast start times vary by provider. Rocket Lab says its live launch broadcasts appear on its livestream page at around T-20 minutes on launch day. That is Rocket Lab’s stated practice, not a rule for every launch. For another provider, use that mission’s own listing for the stream and start time.

  • SAFETY FIRST, FUN ALWAYS: Our rockets and rocket launch accessories are designed to be used with the NAR (National Association of Rocketry) model-rocket safety code. Always ensure you have an appropriate launch site, stand back at least 15 ft., insert the safety key, issue a countdown, and then you can let your rocket fly!
  • WE IGNITE IMAGINATIONS: Since 1958, Estes has created educational rocket kits and displays designed for an unforgettable aerospace experience. As a family-owned company, we have grown to offer exciting STEM products that engage aspiring rocketeers and the future minds of aerospace.

3. Convert the time and set a reminder

Use the timezone printed beside the event time rather than assuming it is local. NASA’s Launch Services Program countdown interface includes UTC alongside L-time, T-time, liftoff, launch-window, and event fields: NASA LSP Mission Countdown. A countdown can help you see how much time remains, but the official mission page is still the place to verify a changed target.

If you want notifications, the Go4Liftoff App Store listing describes launch countdowns, configurable alerts, and notifications when a webcast goes live. It is an optional, iPhone-oriented third-party app, free with in-app purchases, and uses The Space Devs Launch Library 2 API; it is not an official NASA or launch-provider app. App features and availability can change.

4. Recheck shortly before liftoff

Schedules and live-event listings are operational information, not fixed calendars. Reopen the official mission page and webcast listing near the event, especially if the target is marked “NET” or “No Earlier Than.” Confirm both the current target and the stream link; an older saved page or reminder may no longer reflect the latest update.

Which tracking option should you use?

Option Best for What it provides Limitation
Launch provider mission page Confirming a specific mission Provider-posted target and, where listed, the official webcast Coverage is specific to that provider; targets can change
NASA Launch Schedule and NASA Live NASA missions and NASA event coverage Mission schedule, live-event listings, and links to available channels NASA Live event times are shown in U.S. Eastern; listings change
NASA LSP Mission Countdown Watching countdown fields L-time, T-time, UTC, liftoff, launch-window, and event fields A countdown display does not replace checking the provider’s current target
Go4Liftoff Optional reminders across launches Countdowns and configurable launch or webcast notifications, according to its App Store listing Third-party iPhone-oriented app; availability and in-app purchase details may change

For watching the actual webcast, prioritize an official provider or agency stream. Use a countdown or app as a convenience layer, not as the final authority on a launch change. NASA says its programming is free, though obtaining it through some third-party streaming services may require equipment purchases or subscriptions (NASA Live).

A past listing is not an upcoming launch

NASA Live reported that NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission launched at 11:10 a.m. EDT on October 1, 2026, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. That is a historical example, not a future launch time; see the Crew-13 listing. NASA Live’s lineup changes and can include coverage beyond launches, so use its current page rather than relying on a cached event schedule.
