To test PDFCrowd’s PDF-to-HTML API in Postman, send a POST request to https://api.pdfcrowd.com/convert/24.04/, authenticate with Basic Auth, and submit form-data containing input_format=pdf, output_format=html, and either a PDF URL or an uploaded PDF. Check the status, Content-Type, and response body to confirm the result.
Configure the Postman request
1. Set the method and endpoint

Create a request in Postman, set the method to
POST, and enterhttps://api.pdfcrowd.com/convert/24.04/as the URL. PDFCrowd documents this versioned endpoint for its HTTP API; keep the version in the address. See the PDFCrowd HTTP guide and API examples. -
To request JSON-formatted errors, add
?errfmt=jsonto the endpoint. This changes error formatting, not the successful conversion output.
2. Add Basic Auth

Open the Authorization tab and choose Basic Auth.

Enter your PDFCrowd username as the username and your API key as the password. For a real account test, use your own credentials; keep them in secure Postman variables or Vault rather than embedding them in a request shared with others. PDFCrowd’s examples include demo credentials for trying the API.

3. Choose the PDF input
Open Body, select form-data, and add the conversion fields below. Then choose exactly one input route.

Use a URL: Add a text row named

Upload a local PDF: Add a row named

Use form fields rather than a JSON body: PDFCrowd does not support JSON request bodies for this operation. For uploads, Postman’s form-data mode supplies the multipart content type and boundary. Do not manually replace that header with a multipart header lacking Postman’s boundary. See the PDFCrowd API reference and Postman request-body documentation.
Send the request and read the response
Click Send, then check the HTTP status before interpreting the body. PDFCrowd documents 200 OK for a successful conversion. The returned content is HTML or ZIP bytes, depending on the resource settings.

By default, resources such as images, stylesheets, and fonts are embedded. Resource-separation options or force_zip=true can make the response a ZIP instead. For an initial test, leave those options at their defaults. PDFCrowd’s HTTP guide recommends checking the status before processing the body.

Troubleshoot common failures

Missing input or request data: Confirm the body mode is form-data, the fields are spelled exactly as

Authentication fails: Check that Basic Auth is selected, the PDFCrowd username is in the username field, and the API key is in the password field.

The remote PDF cannot be loaded: Verify the URL is reachable from PDFCrowd’s servers and returns a PDF directly. If it is private or requires a browser login, try uploading the file instead.

The PDF cannot be opened: Confirm the uploaded or remote input is a valid PDF.

The response appears garbled: Check

The error is difficult to parse: Add
?errfmt=jsonto request JSON-formatted errors. PDFCrowd returns plain-text errors by default. -
You need conversion diagnostics: Look for the
x-pdfcrowd-debug-logresponse header, which can contain a diagnostics link. PDFCrowd also says conversion logs are available in conversion history.
