Test a deep link by sending its exact URI to Android as an ACTION_VIEW intent, then confirm which activity opens and what URI it receives. For website URLs intended to open as verified Android App Links, test domain verification and the device’s link-handling policy separately: a matching intent filter alone does not prove verification succeeded.
Test a URI against your app’s intent filters

Use the scheme, host, and path you expect the filter to handle. Android’s
amactivity-manager command sends the URI as anACTION_VIEWintent. The Android Developers deep-link guide documents this as a way to check that a deep-link URI resolves to the intended activity. -
Read the command output and observe the device. Check whether the intended app activity opens, another app is selected, or Android presents a disambiguation choice. Ordinary deep links can be handled through intent routing without establishing a verified association with a website.

In the receiving activity, inspect the incoming intent’s action and data URI. Confirm that the action is

Check the manifest match
Compare the test URI with the relevant <intent-filter> in the installed app’s manifest. Check its scheme, host, and path rules, along with the actions and categories required for the link type. For web-link filters, the usual pattern includes android.intent.action.VIEW, android.intent.category.DEFAULT, and android.intent.category.BROWSABLE. If you intend the filter to participate in App Links verification, check that it has android:autoVerify="true".
On Android 17 and later, the documented --debug-link diagnostics can show candidate apps and the static manifest attributes that matched a URI. Use this when filters overlap or it is unclear which activity is eligible; do not assume a particular candidate wins just because its filter appears to match. Verify App Links separately
An intent-filter match answers whether an activity can handle a URI. App Links verification checks whether Android recognizes the app as associated with the website, which affects how website links are handled. Test both when the requirement is for a web URL to open as a verified App Link.

List every qualifying website host declared in the app’s App Links filters, including subdomains where applicable. Do not check only the primary hostname.

For each host, confirm that its Digital Asset Links statement is served at
https://<host>/.well-known/assetlinks.jsonand that the statement associates the site with the correct app identity and signing information. -
Inspect the device’s App Links verification state and link-handling policy using the procedures in Android’s Test App Links and Verify App Links guides. The Digital Asset Links API is another way to inspect site statements.

Interpret verification and observed routing together. A user’s link-handling choice can affect where a link opens independently of the programmatic verification result.
Compare multiple URLs or builds systematically
For each URL and app build, record the URI, the relevant filter, the activity and data received, the verification result for each host, and the device’s link policy. Include the Android version, because available diagnostics and routing behavior differ by version. If multiple filters or activities may match, record the matching candidates rather than treating one successful launch as proof that every URI resolves as intended.

The app opens, but the wrong screen or content appears: Inspect the receiving activity’s intent action and data URI, then check the app’s own URI-routing logic.

App Links are not verified: Check
android:autoVerify="true", every declared host’sassetlinks.json, and the app identity and signing association in the statement. Android also identifies server-side redirects as a possible verification pitfall. -
The result may be stale: Follow Android’s verification guidance to force fresh verification where appropriate, then inspect device status and link policy to distinguish verification from user choice.
