Check whether course content, text, media, navigation, and controls remain visible and usable. Then verify the live page for keyboard access, text resizing, and contrast: a screenshot can reveal visual problems, but it cannot prove accessibility or interaction behavior.
Set up a repeatable tablet screenshot test
- Record the reference state. Note the page URL if permitted, login or course state, browser, screenshot dimensions, CSS viewport dimensions, orientation, zoom or text setting, and date. Keep the same content and state when comparing captures.
- Choose a CSS viewport. In browser developer tools or by resizing the window, set the intended viewport width and height. A device’s marketed pixel resolution is not its CSS viewport: device pixel ratio affects the relationship between physical pixels and CSS pixels. There is no single tablet size prescribed by the guidance cited here.
- Capture both orientations. Review portrait and landscape, unless a particular orientation is genuinely essential to the content. Check whether columns become cramped, menus cover material, media crops awkwardly, large empty areas appear, or controls move offscreen.
- Sweep nearby widths. Slowly resize around suspected breakpoints and capture the target viewport plus a few widths on either side. A single screenshot can miss sudden wrapping, overlap, or a layout transition that fails.
- Inspect education content that is present. Check course navigation, long lesson headings, downloadable materials, embedded video, captions or transcripts, quizzes, and forms. These are useful learning-site test targets, not features every page necessarily has.
- Save evidence and report. Capture each failing viewport and record reproduction steps, what is obscured or unusable, and the expected result. A screenshot comparison can flag visual changes, but a change is not automatically a defect; judge it against the design or applicable requirement.
What to look for in the image
- Text, instructions, or course titles that are clipped, truncated, or difficult to follow.
- Content hidden behind sticky navigation, popups, or other overlays.
- Horizontal scrolling where the content should reflow, or controls positioned beyond the visible area.
- Columns that become too narrow, inconsistent spacing, or sudden large blank regions.
- Images and video that are cropped, distorted, or sized so poorly that important content is lost.
- Quizzes, forms, and navigation controls that appear too small, crowded, or visually separated from their labels.
These are visual inspection targets, not proof that a control works. Open the page and exercise it when possible.

Apply relevant Indian accessibility checks
The Guidelines for Indian Government Websites and Apps (GIGW) adopts accessibility success criteria from WCAG 2.1 and includes checks for reflow, orientation, keyboard access, text scaling, non-text alternatives, and contrast. Its responsive-content checkpoint describes vertically scrolling content at 320 CSS pixels wide and horizontally scrolling content at 256 CSS pixels high, subject to exceptions for content that requires two-dimensional layout. These are CSS viewport criteria, not tablet hardware dimensions or a complete statement of conformance. See the GIGW accessibility guidance.

GIGW states: “Content does not restrict its view and operation to a single display orientation, such as portrait or landscape, unless a specific display orientation is essential.”
- Text scaling: Increase browser text size or zoom and check that content and controls remain available. GIGW describes user-agent text scaling and an alternative page control up to 200 percent.
- Keyboard use: On the live page, verify visible focus and that keyboard users can reach and operate interactive controls.
- Contrast: GIGW gives a 4.5:1 contrast ratio for ordinary text and 3:1 for large text, with exceptions described in its guidance. A screenshot may help locate a concern, but use an appropriate contrast check on the page.
- Non-text content: Check meaningful image alternatives in the page itself; a screenshot cannot establish whether alternative text is present or appropriate.
These checks are relevant to an Indian education site’s review, but they do not establish the legal or contractual obligations of an unspecified institution. Identify the site owner and applicable policy before claiming compliance. For example, SWAYAM Plus says its layouts are responsive and text can be resized with browser zoom without loss of content; it also states an aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 AA and GIGW. That is a statement of goals, not independent proof that every check passes: SWAYAM Plus accessibility statement.

When to use a physical tablet
Browser emulation or a resized window is a useful, repeatable first pass. Validate on a physical Android tablet when the site’s audience and available devices make that worthwhile, especially if browser behavior, orientation, or device settings could affect the result. A physical device is an optional validation step, not a universal requirement or a substitute for checking other relevant configurations.
Android Developers recommends tests across window and screen sizes to identify regressions in adaptive layouts: “To identify regressions on different window and screen sizes, implement automated tests to verify that the behavior and look of the UI is consistent across different form factors.” This supports testing varied configurations; it does not prescribe a particular tablet model or require real hardware for website screenshot review. Use automated accessibility checks as screening
GIGW describes both manual evaluation and tool-assisted checks. SugamyaWeb’s guide describes single-page or full-site modes, configurable WCAG versions and levels, scheduled or immediate tests, and reports. Its home page says automated checks cover key WCAG criteria, so treat a tool’s output as a screening result and follow up with manual evaluation. Include the browser, CSS viewport width and height, orientation, zoom or text setting, page state, observed issue, and expected outcome in every report. Attach the screenshot and steps to reproduce. This lets another tester distinguish a viewport-specific defect from a content or state difference.
