There is no single screen size for the Samsung Galaxy M series. To test a page, use Chrome DevTools’ Responsive mode and enter the verified CSS viewport dimensions for the particular M-series model you are targeting. Set its device pixel ratio (DPR) if known, then test both orientations. A phone’s physical panel resolution is not automatically the CSS viewport size.
Why there is no one Galaxy M screen size
Galaxy M is a family of phones, not one device profile. The dimensions your website needs for responsive layout are the browser’s CSS viewport width and height: the logical space available to the page. A phone’s advertised display resolution describes physical panel pixels instead.

Device pixel ratio connects the two: it is the number of hardware screen pixels used to draw one CSS pixel. Chrome describes DPR and how it affects rendering in its Device Mode documentation. Do not enter a physical resolution as the CSS viewport without establishing the device’s DPR and browser viewport behavior.

These are useful test widths, but Chrome does not identify them as Galaxy M profiles. Use a model-specific viewport measurement when you need to claim that a test represents a particular phone.

Set up a Galaxy M-sized test in Chrome DevTools
- Open the page in desktop Chrome. Open DevTools and toggle the device toolbar.
- Select Responsive from the Dimensions list, then enter the verified target model’s CSS viewport width and height. If you have only physical display dimensions, first determine the CSS viewport rather than copying those pixel values into the fields.
- Set the device type to Mobile. Chrome’s device types distinguish Mobile, which uses touch events, from Mobile (no touch), Desktop and Desktop (touch).
- Set DPR if you know the target model’s value. DPR affects how Chrome draws CSS pixels on a high-density display. Avoid guessing if the value is unknown.
- Test portrait and landscape. Use the rotation control and inspect the page at relevant widths. Chrome’s media-query display can help identify where responsive breakpoints take effect.
- Capture the result. Open DevTools’ More options menu and choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport. Choose Capture a full size screenshot when you need the page beyond the current viewport.
A viewport screenshot and a full-size screenshot are different outputs: the latter includes page content beyond the visible viewport. Capture the one that answers your question, and record the dimensions, DPR, orientation and capture mode alongside the image.
Choose emulation or a real phone

For Samsung Internet compatibility, test that browser separately where possible. Samsung recommends Chrome developer tools or user-agent switching to verify Samsung browser content; its developer guidance describes setting the desired user-agent string and screen resolution. A user-agent switch can help with browser-specific checks, but it does not make a desktop machine behave like the phone’s hardware.

Troubleshoot a misleading screenshot
- The layout does not match the target phone: confirm you entered its CSS viewport, not its panel resolution, and check DPR, browser and orientation.
- Touch behavior is missing: verify the device type is Mobile rather than Mobile (no touch) or a desktop mode.
- A breakpoint appears at the wrong point: inspect the media-query display and test widths on both sides of the breakpoint, rather than relying on a generic preset as a model specification.
- The image is shorter than the page: use Capture a full size screenshot instead of capturing only the visible viewport.
- Samsung Internet differs from desktop Chrome: test in Samsung Internet on the target device when browser-specific behavior matters; user-agent switching is a separate verification aid, not a full device substitute.
- Performance or rendering still looks wrong: validate on the physical phone. Desktop emulation does not run the page on mobile hardware.
