Check the complete CFI model number printed on the console itself, then match it with Sony’s support materials. Sony groups the PS5 Slim under CFI-2000, while regional documentation can show a longer code such as CFI-2016. The full code—not just “Slim”—is the useful identifier for model-specific manuals and setup instructions.
Find the console’s complete CFI model number

Read the model label on the console and copy the entire CFI code exactly, including all digits and any suffix. Sony’s model-number lookup provides the official guidance for locating the label; use it rather than guessing based on the console’s shape or packaging.

Enter or compare that code in Sony’s manuals index. The index includes CFI-2016 Slim documentation alongside documents for CFI-1216, CFI-1116 and CFI-1016 consoles. A longer regional code is still part of the identification; do not reduce it to “CFI-2000” when checking a specific manual.

What “PS5 Slim revision” means in Sony’s documentation
Sony identifies CFI-2000 as the PS5 Slim model group. Its manuals index also publishes a specific CFI-2016 documentation entry. These materials establish the family-level identification and regional model coding, but they do not provide a complete mapping of every regional suffix or manufacturing subrevision to internal component changes.

For that reason, the model code can identify which official documentation applies, but it does not by itself establish that a console has a different fan, motherboard, chip, power draw or heatsink from another code. Do not infer internal changes from a suffix unless Sony documents them for the exact models being compared.
Do not mistake the disc-drive serial for the console model
On applicable CFI-2000 consoles sold without a drive, the detachable disc drive is a separate accessory. Sony says its serial number is 17 alphanumeric characters and is located on the back of the drive beside its connector. That identifies the drive, not the console’s CFI model. Why the full code matters for setup and accessories
Model group can change which instructions apply. Sony’s vertical-stand instructions distinguish CFI-2000/7000 from CFI-1000, and state that the way to attach the stand depends on the console type. Check Sony’s vertical-stand instructions against your complete model code before following a setup procedure or buying a model-sensitive accessory.
Detachable disc drive
Sony’s CFI-20XX safety guide says that a console supplied without a drive can take a separately sold disc drive. Treat this as a compatibility check for applicable Slim digital configurations: confirm your exact model against current local Sony support information before purchasing.
M.2 storage
Sony’s CFI-20XX safety guide specifies M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 storage from 250 GB to 4 TB, in sizes 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110. It excludes M.2 SATA and discusses heat dissipation. Sony cautions that it cannot guarantee every drive meeting those listed specifications will work; verify the exact console’s current manual before buying or installing one.
