Use Make’s HTTP Make a request module to send a GET request to Microlink with the page URL and screenshot=true. Microlink returns JSON containing the image URL at data.screenshot.url. Add Make’s HTTP Download a file module only if a later step needs the image itself rather than its URL.
Build the Microlink screenshot scenario
- Add the request module. In a Make scenario, add the HTTP app’s Make a request module. Make describes its HTTP app as a way to connect to API services and applications that do not have a dedicated Make integration. The current documentation covers HTTP Version 4 and notes that legacy users may select Version 3, so labels can vary slightly by version: Make HTTP app documentation.
- Configure the API call. Set the method to
GET, the URL tohttps://api.microlink.io, and add query parameters as shown below. Microlink’s screenshot documentation specifies the targeturlandscreenshotparameters: Microlink screenshot parameter. - Run the scenario. Inspect the returned JSON and map
data.screenshot.urlinto any later module that accepts an image URL. Microlink also returns image details such as type, size, width, and height: Microlink screenshot parameter. - Download the image if needed. If the next module expects a file rather than a URL, add HTTP Download a file and map
data.screenshot.urlinto its URL field. Make documents this module as downloading a file from a specified URL: Make HTTP app documentation.
Set the request parameters
In Make’s request module, add these query-string parameters:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
| Parameter | Value | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
url |
The full URL of the page to capture | Specifies the target webpage. |
screenshot |
true |
Enables screenshot capture. |
meta |
false |
Skips page metadata extraction when the scenario only needs a screenshot. Microlink identifies this as usually its biggest speedup for screenshot-only requests. |
The equivalent request shape is GET https://api.microlink.io?url=<encoded-target-url>&screenshot=true&meta=false. Prefer Make’s query-parameter fields over manually assembling a raw query string; if you do construct one, URL-encode the target URL so characters such as & and ? inside it are not mistaken for API parameters.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Microlink also documents screenshot-specific settings. For example, use screenshot.fullPage=true for full-page capture, or set the screenshot type option to choose an output format. In Make, represent nested options using the documented parameter names; in a raw query string, the guide shows dot notation such as screenshot.fullPage=true. Consult the screenshot options for supported values.

Choose between the screenshot URL and a file
Keep the JSON response when a URL is enough
Microlink’s normal response includes JSON and the hosted screenshot URL at data.screenshot.url. Use this route when a following module can accept a URL, or when you need the returned image metadata alongside the link.
Download when a later step needs image contents
Use Make’s HTTP Download a file module when a later action needs an actual file object—for example, to pass the image to a module that uploads or stores files. Map the returned screenshot URL into that module rather than trying to treat the JSON response itself as the image.

Use direct image delivery only for a different output need
Microlink documents embed=screenshot.url as a delivery mode for a direct image response, useful for embedding in HTML, CSS, Markdown, or social tags. It is not necessary for the ordinary Make workflow where the request returns JSON and an optional download step fetches the image: Microlink screenshot parameter.
What to check when a run does not produce the expected image
- No screenshot URL in the output: Confirm that the request includes the full target
urlandscreenshot=true. Those are Microlink’s required screenshot parameters. - The scenario needs only a screenshot but the request is slower than expected: Set
meta=falseto avoid metadata extraction. It is the screenshot-only efficiency option documented by Microlink, not a guarantee of a fixed response time. - The next module cannot use the mapped value: Check whether it expects a URL or a file. Map
data.screenshot.urldirectly for URL inputs; insert HTTP Download a file for file inputs. - The captured page differs from the browser on your computer or fails to load: This workflow captures what Microlink’s browser service renders for the submitted URL. The cited documentation does not establish that every site permits capture or renders identically to a local browser, so test the actual target page and inspect the response rather than assuming universal access.
- Full-page capture or output format is not applied: Verify the spelling and nesting of the screenshot option. Microlink documents nested parameters such as
screenshot.fullPage; query-string construction uses dot notation. - Module labels differ from a guide or screenshot: Make’s HTTP documentation distinguishes Version 4 from Version 3 for legacy users. Check which version your scenario uses.
