If content appears only after scrolling, scroll to the bottom before capturing. Percy Web takes full-page screenshots by default; Automate does not, so confirm which Percy workflow your project uses before changing the code.
Take a full-page screenshot in Percy with Automate
BrowserStack’s Automate full-page guide shows this JavaScript pattern. Use it after navigating to the page and waiting for the state your test intends to compare:

const options = { fullPage: true };
await percyScreenshot(driver, 'Checkout page - full page', options);
The exact screenshot function and surrounding setup depend on the Percy SDK and test framework in your project. The example focuses on the option and call order; use the integration’s documented import and driver setup. BrowserStack documents examples for JavaScript, Python, Java, and C# in its Full-page screenshot guide.

Make the captured page complete and repeatable
Wait for the intended page state
Take the snapshot only after navigation and any application-specific loading have completed. A page can be technically loaded while data, fonts, or client-rendered components are still changing. Wait for a meaningful selector or other test condition before capturing; the condition should represent the state you want Percy to compare.
Trigger lazy-loaded content
Percy attempts to handle lazy loading, but content that loads only after scrolling may still be absent. If that happens, scroll through the page to the bottom before calling the screenshot function, then allow the newly requested content to render. This is especially relevant for long pages with images or sections activated by entering the viewport.

Stabilize moving elements and popups
Pause or otherwise stabilize JavaScript animations, video, and carousels before capture. Handle consent dialogs, modals, and other popups as part of the test rather than allowing their appearance to vary between runs. Otherwise, Percy may capture different visual states even when the underlying page has not meaningfully changed.
Know which Percy workflow sets full-page behavior
| Workflow | Full-page behavior | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Percy Web | BrowserStack says Percy Web projects take full-page screenshots by default. | Confirm that the project is Percy Web; do not apply Automate assumptions automatically. |
| Percy with Automate | The screenshot call needs the full-page option. The Playwright integration documentation describes a single tile as the default. | Set the documented full-page option in the screenshot call and check the specific SDK integration. |
| CLI snapshots | A separate workflow for snapshots of files, directories, or sitemap URLs. | Use the CLI workflow when capturing those inputs; do not confuse it with a browser-driven Automate call. |
| App Percy | A native-app, scroll-and-stitch workflow with its own setup and limits. | Follow the App Percy and Appium requirements below rather than using the web Automate example. |
BrowserStack’s Full-page screenshot documentation says: “By default, Percy takes full-page screenshots for the projects created on Percy Web.” That statement applies to Percy Web, not every Percy project. The Automate Playwright guidance is at Playwright integration documentation.
Choose full page or a focused region
A full-page snapshot is useful when differences anywhere in the document matter. If only one region needs visual coverage, Percy’s CLI documentation also describes element-scoped snapshots. Select the scope based on what the test is meant to verify; an element snapshot is not a substitute for full-document coverage.

- Clear visuals. Fluid motion: A 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT deliver smooth, tear‑free motion across work, gaming, and streaming for clearer, more fluid viewing.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star* certification reduces harmful blue light while preserving stunning color quality without compromise. *TÜV Rheinland 3-star eye comfort certification.
- Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
Understand Automate full-page limits
For the Percy with Automate web feature, BrowserStack documents a maximum screenshot length of 10,000 pixels or 10 tiles, whichever is lower, on desktop, and 10 tiles on mobile. These are limits for the documented feature; confirm current constraints for your project type and integration before relying on a particular capture length.
Custom ignore regions and custom consider regions do not function with full-page screenshots according to the same guide. If your comparison depends on those regions, account for that limitation when choosing the capture approach.
Fix clipped or incomplete screenshots
The screenshot ends at a container
Check the page’s CSS for an element that clips overflow. Browsers honor overflow rules, so a container with hidden overflow can prevent a full-page capture from showing the rest of the content. Identify the specific clipping element, then apply a targeted Percy CSS override, for example:

- CURVED FOR ENHANCED ENGAGEMENT: An immersive viewing experience with a curved monitor that wraps more closely around your field of vision; It creates a wider view, enhancing depth perception and minimizing peripheral distraction
- SMOOTH PERFORMANCE FOR SEAMLESS CONTENT: Stay in the action when playing games, watching videos, or working on creative projects; The 100Hz refresh rate reduces lag and motion blur so you don't miss a thing in fast-paced moments¹
- MORE GAMING POWER: Gain the edge with optimizable game settings; Color and image contrast can be adjusted to see scenes more vividly and spot enemies hiding in the dark; Game Mode adjusts any game to fill the screen so you can view every detail²
- KEEP IT EASY ON THE EYES: Care for your eyes and stay comfortable, even during long sessions; Advanced eye comfort technology certified by TÜV reduces eye strain by minimizing blue light and reducing irritating screen flicker²
- INCREASED VERSATILITY: Connect to more; Plug devices straight into your monitor for increased flexibility, making your computing environment even more convenient
.container {
overflow: unset !important;
}
Do not apply this broadly without checking the page structure: changing overflow on the wrong element can alter layout and create unrelated visual differences. BrowserStack explains this issue in its full-page capture troubleshooting guide.
Sections or images are missing
- If content is activated by scrolling, scroll through the page before the snapshot and wait for the content to render.
- If the page is still loading, wait for an application-specific readiness condition rather than relying only on navigation completion.
- If content is hidden by a modal or consent prompt, handle that prompt in the test before capturing.
Visual differences change between runs
Pause animations, video, and carousels, and make popup handling deterministic. A screenshot comparison is meaningful only when the page reaches a repeatable state.

Native app screenshots use a different setup
For App Percy, BrowserStack documents a separate Appium workflow. It captures a sequence of screen lengths and stitches them; it does not restore the original scroll position afterward. The guide describes a default of four screen lengths and says values above 10 are reset to 10. It also identifies the feature as Beta and says it is supported on BrowserStack devices.

The same guide specifies Appium server versions greater than 1.19 for Android and iOS 15 or newer for iOS. Treat these as the requirements stated in the cited guide and verify the current App Percy documentation for the exact device and integration you use.
App Percy tracks an element expected to move as the page scrolls. If a page is represented by one large text element that reports the same visible-viewport position after scrolling, Percy may fail to detect progress and cannot produce the full-page result. Where feasible, split the content into multiple elements so scroll movement can be detected.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a clean image or PDF rather than a Percy visual-test snapshot, ScreenshotNeo provides a one-request screenshot API. It removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; and its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Percy full-page screenshots with Playwright?
Yes. Percy’s Playwright integration is part of Automate; use its full-page instructions and explicitly enable full-page capture rather than assuming the default includes the whole document.
Does Percy restore the scroll position after an App Percy capture?
No. BrowserStack’s App Percy guide says the scroll-and-stitch capture does not restore the original position.
