Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To capture a webpage beyond the visible screen, use the full-page control built into your browser or phone: Firefox desktop has Save full page, Chrome desktop can capture a full-size screenshot through DevTools, Safari on iPhone offers Full Page, and supported Samsung Galaxy phones provide Scroll capture. The exact output and menus depend on the platform.
What an extended screenshot captures
A normal screenshot records only the pixels currently visible in the viewport. An extended, scrolling or full-page screenshot continues down the document and combines the content below the fold into one capture. This is useful for saving an article, documenting a long settings page, reviewing a design, or sharing a page without taking several separate images.
The methods below are documented for Firefox desktop, Chrome DevTools, iPhone Safari and the Samsung Galaxy S23-series. Browser labels and phone controls can change after software updates. A dynamic page, embedded frame, nested scroll area or never-ending feed may not capture exactly as it appears on screen; the official instructions do not guarantee those cases.
Choose the method for your device
| Platform | How you start | Full-page control | Documented output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox desktop | Right-click an empty area, or use the keyboard shortcut | Save full page | Image download, with visible, region and detected-section options also available |
| Chrome desktop | Open DevTools and enable Device Mode | Capture a full size screenshot | Image capture through DevTools |
| iPhone Safari | Take a normal screenshot, then tap its thumbnail | Full Page | Apple documents saving the result as a PDF |
| Samsung Galaxy S23-series | Take a screenshot and use the screenshot toolbar | Scroll capture | Elongated screenshot; exact availability varies by device and software |
Firefox desktop: save the entire page
Firefox provides the most direct desktop workflow. Mozilla’s current help page documents these steps: Take screenshots in Firefox.

- Open the webpage you want to capture.
- Right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot. If a context menu is inconvenient, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page. Firefox generates a capture that extends below the current viewport.
- Download the image and open it once to check that the bottom of the page and any important images are present.
The same screenshot tool can capture a selected region, an automatically detected page section, or only the visible area. Those alternatives are useful when a full page would be unwieldy, but they do not include all content below the fold.
Chrome desktop: use DevTools full-size capture
Chrome’s documented route uses DevTools Device Mode. Chrome for Developers describes the device emulation workflow and the Capture a full size screenshot command here: Simulate mobile devices with device mode.
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools. You can use the browser’s developer-tools command or the relevant keyboard shortcut for your operating system.
- Turn on Device Mode if it is not already enabled. The page will appear inside the emulated-device toolbar.
- Open DevTools More options and select Capture a full size screenshot.
- Wait for Chrome to create the file, then open it to verify that the complete document was rendered.
Finding the command with the Command Menu
Chrome’s Command Menu opens with Control+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+P on Mac. The official command-menu documentation is at Run commands in the Command Menu. Type “screenshot” and choose the full-size action when it appears. Chrome’s DevTools release documentation also records the full-page screenshot feature: What’s New In DevTools (Chrome 59). That release page establishes the feature’s documented existence; current menu placement can differ.
Why Chrome may look different
Device Mode is part of the documented route, so the command may not appear where expected until emulation is enabled. DevTools labels and panels can move between Chrome versions. If a command is missing, use the Command Menu rather than relying on an older screenshot or tutorial.

iPhone Safari: use Full Page
Apple’s iOS 27 iPhone guide says that a full-page screenshot can capture an entire webpage in Safari: Take a screenshot on iPhone.
- Open the webpage in Safari and position it at the page you want to save.
- Take a screenshot with your iPhone’s hardware-button combination.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail when it appears in the corner of the screen. If it disappears, open the screenshot from Photos and use the available editing view.
- Select Full Page at the top of the screenshot editor.
- Use the share or save controls. Apple’s instructions describe saving a full-page capture as a PDF, not as a PNG image.
You can scroll the preview to inspect the captured length before saving. If you need a conventional image file rather than Apple’s documented PDF workflow, use a desktop browser method or an image-capture service instead.
Samsung Galaxy: Scroll capture
On the Galaxy S23-series manual reviewed for this guide, the screenshot toolbar includes Scroll capture. Samsung describes it for elongated content such as a webpage in its European English user manual (2024 edition): Galaxy S23-series user manual.
- Open the webpage and take a screenshot using your Galaxy’s normal screenshot gesture or button combination.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap the Scroll capture icon.
- Continue tapping or holding the control as the page advances, until the required content is included.
- Save the elongated capture and review the bottom edge before sharing it.
Do not assume these exact labels or controls exist on every Android phone. Samsung menu names and availability can vary by model and software version, and the cited instructions establish this workflow for the Galaxy S23-series rather than for all Android manufacturers.

Make the capture usable
Let lazy content load
Many pages load images, charts or cards only after they approach the viewport. Scroll through the page once before capturing, or wait for visible placeholders to resolve. A full-page command can otherwise include blank image areas even though the page eventually displays them.
Stop at a meaningful boundary
News feeds, social timelines and product grids may load more content continuously. Capture a defined section or region when the page has no stable bottom; otherwise the result may be extremely long or change while it is being rendered.
Check overlays and consent dialogs
Cookie notices, newsletter forms and chat bubbles can cover the page or become part of the capture. Dismiss them before taking the screenshot when possible. If a dialog prevents the page from scrolling, complete or reject the prompt, then retry.
Inspect the result
- Confirm the top and bottom of the intended document are present.
- Look for missing images, duplicated sections or abrupt seams.
- Check text scale and readability at the final saved resolution.
- Remove sensitive information before sharing the file.
When built-in capture fails
The page stops before the bottom
First close overlays and allow the page to finish loading. For a nested scroll panel, place the pointer or focus inside that panel; browser full-page tools generally target the document rather than every independently scrolling element. If the page is an infinite feed, capture a bounded region instead of expecting a natural endpoint.

- IRIScan document scanner : Versatile scanning capabilities, including scanning to Word, PDF, and Excel formats with companion software provided Readiris OCR
- Receipt scanner and card scanner with Additional features include scanning business cards directly to Outlook, photo scanning, and receipt scanning for efficient document management
Images or charts are blank
Scroll through the page once, wait for network activity to settle, and capture again. Content inside a cross-origin embedded frame or a canvas can have different rendering behavior from ordinary document text, so the official workflows do not promise identical results for every embedded element.
Chrome’s full-size option is missing
Enable Device Mode, open More options, or use the Command Menu with Control+Shift+P (Command+Shift+P on Mac). DevTools changes across releases, so avoid relying on an old panel location.
iPhone offers no Full Page tab
Make sure the screenshot was taken in Safari while a webpage was open. Apple’s documented Full Page option applies to supported webpage captures; it is not a universal mode for every app or screen.
Samsung has no Scroll capture icon
The cited manual covers the Galaxy S23-series. Check your model’s current manual and software version; Android manufacturers do not share one universal screenshot toolbar.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. It can accept cookie and consent banners like a visitor, then remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
Use the API documentation at screenshotneo.com/docs/ for the complete parameter list. The following requests are runnable examples; replace the URL and API key.
cURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Options for production captures
- Full-page capture with lazy images loaded, or one element selected by CSS selector.
- Dark mode, 12 device presets, any viewport and retina scale.
- PDF paper size, margins, landscape mode and page ranges.
- HTML/CSS-to-image, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, hidden selectors, selector or delay waits, and network-idle waits.
- Ad, tracker, request and resource-type blocking; custom headers, cookies, user agents and Authorization; timezone and geolocation.
- Transparent backgrounds, image resizing, cache TTLs, signed links for public
<img>tags, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification.
Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify a migration. ScreenshotNeo’s MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf to Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients, so an AI agent can request captures without you wiring browser automation.

Which workflow should you use?
- One occasional capture on a computer: Firefox’s Save full page is the shortest desktop path.
- Chrome-specific work or responsive testing: use DevTools Device Mode and full-size capture.
- A Safari page on iPhone: use Full Page, remembering that Apple’s documented saved format is PDF.
- A supported Samsung Galaxy: use the screenshot toolbar’s Scroll capture.
- Repeatable, automated or cleaned captures: use ScreenshotNeo when you need API calls, PDF options, device settings, popup removal, billing status headers or MCP access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I capture a page that requires authentication?
The built-in browser methods use the session already open in that browser. For automated work, ScreenshotNeo supports custom cookies, headers and Authorization; do not place credentials in a public URL or expose them in client-side code.
Is a full-page screenshot the same as a PDF?
No. Firefox and Chrome document image-oriented full-page captures, while Apple documents saving an iPhone Safari Full Page capture as a PDF. Choose the workflow whose output matches your filing or sharing requirement.
Why is my result much taller than expected?
A page may be an infinite feed or may load additional cards while it is being measured. Capture a defined region or element, or use a fixed selector and wait condition in an automated workflow.
