To capture the screen on a OnePlus Nord, press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons together for a moment. The image is saved automatically in the phone’s Gallery, in the screenshots collection. You can also enable a three-finger swipe, and on Android 12 or later you may be able to extend a capture down a scrollable page.
Use the Power and Volume Down buttons
The hardware shortcut is the quickest method and does not require an app, cable or accessory.
- Open the screen you want to keep. Scroll to the exact position you want at the top of the image.
- Press the Power button and Volume Down button at the same time.
- Hold both briefly, then release together. A preview or capture controls should appear, depending on your OxygenOS and Android version.
- Open Gallery to find the finished image in the screenshots collection or folder.
Timing matters. Pressing one button noticeably before the other can lock the phone, change the volume or trigger another hardware action instead of taking a screenshot. Use the flat sides of two fingers so both switches travel at nearly the same instant. You do not need to keep holding until the screen flashes; a short, simultaneous press is normally enough.
If the buttons are difficult to reach
Hold the phone in one hand and brace it against your palm before pressing. If a case makes either switch stiff, remove the case temporarily to rule it out as the cause. The three-finger method below avoids the buttons altogether once it is enabled.

Take a screenshot without buttons
OnePlus includes a three-finger gesture. It is off until you enable it.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Buttons & gestures.
- Tap Quick gestures.
- Turn on Three-finger screenshot.
- Return to the screen you want to capture and swipe downward with three fingers at the same time.
The swipe should begin on the display and move down in one deliberate motion. Keep the fingers separated enough that the phone recognizes three distinct touch points. If the gesture does nothing, revisit the same Quick gestures page and confirm the switch is still enabled, then try a slower, longer swipe on the home screen.
When this method is useful
- One-handed capture: You can swipe with the hand already holding the phone instead of reaching for both side buttons.
- Less accidental locking: There is no Power-button press to mistake for a lock command.
- Repeat captures: It is convenient when you need several images from the same app or conversation.
Three-finger capture is a setting on the phone, not a separate application. It does not add an accessory requirement or an account.

Capture a long or scrolling page
Scrolling capture depends on the Android and OxygenOS build installed on your Nord and on whether the current app allows its content to scroll. Google’s Android guidance says the extended-capture feature works on Android 12 and later on most screens that support scrolling. The original Nord manual documents the normal button shortcut and the three-finger gesture, but it does not establish one universal scrolling workflow for every Nord software version.

- Take a normal screenshot with Power + Volume Down.
- Look at the on-screen capture controls for an option labeled Capture more or similar extended-capture wording.
- Tap it, adjust the selected range if controls are shown, and save the result.
The exact label, icon and maximum length can change with the Nord’s installed build. If no extended-capture control appears, the screen may not be supported, the app may block the feature, or the phone may be running software without the Android 12-and-newer implementation. Capture separate sections instead of assuming that a missing button indicates a hardware fault.
What can prevent a long capture
- A page that does not actually scroll has nothing to extend.
- Some apps draw content in a way the system cannot stitch into one image.
- Privacy or security controls can restrict screenshots or hide capture controls on particular screens.
For a reliable test, try a normal home-screen or browser page first. If extended capture works there but not in one app, the difference is likely the app’s screen implementation or policy rather than the Nord’s buttons.

Find, edit and share the image
O2’s OnePlus Nord guide states that the picture is saved in the phone’s Gallery. Android Help also describes opening screenshots from Photos or Gallery, where they are grouped in a Screenshots album or folder. Open the image from that collection to use the available edit and share controls.
- Open Gallery (or your installed photo app).
- Choose the Screenshots album or folder.
- Tap an image to crop, mark up or otherwise edit it using the controls your software presents.
- Tap the share button to send it to a messaging app, email, cloud service or another destination installed on the phone.
Editing a copy is sensible when the original may be needed later. Before sharing, inspect the full image for phone numbers, addresses, notification text, account names or other private information that happened to be visible at capture time.

Use the button shortcut when you need a capture immediately or are troubleshooting. Enable the gesture if reaching both side buttons is uncomfortable or you take screenshots frequently. Neither method requires a third-party screenshot app.

Troubleshooting a Nord screenshot
Nothing happens when I press the buttons
- Press Power and Volume Down simultaneously, not one after the other.
- Hold briefly and release; an unusually long hold can invoke other hardware behavior.
- Try the home screen or a browser page. If that works, the original app may restrict capture.
- Check that both buttons physically click and that a tight case is not preventing a full press.
The three-finger gesture does nothing
- Return to Settings > Buttons & gestures > Quick gestures and confirm Three-finger screenshot is enabled.
- Start with three fingers on the display and swipe down together, rather than touching down at noticeably different times.
- Test on an ordinary home or browser screen to separate gesture problems from app restrictions.
There is no “Capture more” option
Extended capture is version-dependent. Confirm the phone is running Android 12 or later if that option is expected, and test a page that genuinely scrolls. Android’s guidance says the feature works on most scrollable screens, not every screen. A Nord build can also use a different label or layout for the same control.
The screenshot is not where I expected
Open Gallery and look specifically for the Screenshots album or folder. Android photo apps may present the same files under Photos as well as Gallery. If you used a file-management or editing action immediately after capture, check that app’s recent files too.
The screen refuses to capture
Some app screens can restrict capture for privacy or security. This is not a universal Nord failure. Test the standard shortcut on a normal home or browser screen; if it succeeds there, the app is the likely limitation. Do not install an untrusted workaround to defeat a security restriction.

- Show the exact content you want before pressing either method.
- For buttons, press Power and Volume Down together and release after a brief hold.
- For hands-free access, enable Three-finger screenshot under Quick gestures.
- For long pages, look for Capture more after a normal screenshot; availability follows the Android/OxygenOS build and the app.
- Confirm the image in Gallery’s Screenshots album before editing or sharing.
