Set the device or viewport you want, then click the camera button at the right end of the RDM controls. Firefox saves the screenshot to its default download location. This captures the simulated viewport; use a separate DevTools full-page option if you need the entire page.
Capture a mobile-sized viewport in Responsive Design Mode
- Open the site in Firefox.
- Open Responsive Design Mode with Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows or Linux, or Command+Option+M on macOS. You can also open it from the Firefox menu under Browser Tools or Tools, depending on your platform and menu configuration.
- Select a device profile, or enter the viewport width and height directly. Set the orientation if needed.
- Once the page looks as intended, click the camera button at the right end of the RDM controls. Firefox saves the image to its default download location. If Screenshot to clipboard is enabled in DevTools Settings, Firefox also copies it to the clipboard.
Choose the right Firefox capture method
Firefox has several screenshot paths. The RDM camera captures the responsive viewport, while the full-page DevTools control and Firefox Screenshots feature serve different purposes.

Take a full-page screenshot at a simulated mobile width
The RDM camera button is not the full-page capture control. To capture the entire page while using a mobile-sized viewport, configure RDM first, then use one of these DevTools routes:
Enable the full-page screenshot button
- Open DevTools Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable the full-page screenshot button. Mozilla documents this button as disabled by default.
- With RDM set to the desired device or dimensions, use the full-page screenshot button.
Use the Web Console helper
Firefox’s Web Console provides a :screenshot helper. Add --fullpage to capture the whole page. The helper also supports --dpr, --delay, --filename, and --clipboard options. Mozilla documents these options in its Web Console command-line interpreter documentation.

Use Firefox Screenshots for a region or visible portion
Firefox Screenshots is separate from RDM. Open Take Screenshot from the page context menu, or use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux and Command+Shift+S on macOS. It can capture a selected region, an automatically highlighted page part, the visible portion, or the full page. Choose Download or Copy when the capture is ready. What RDM simulates—and what it does not
Responsive Design Mode lets you inspect a site using selected device characteristics. You can change viewport dimensions and orientation, emulate touch, and adjust device pixel ratio (DPR). Device profiles can also provide a user-agent value. These settings help you inspect a responsive layout, but the result is still a page rendered in Firefox’s configured browser simulation—not proof of how the site behaves on a particular physical phone. RDM’s network throttling is approximate: it models download speed, upload speed, and minimum latency. Do not treat it as an exact performance measurement. The documented capture paths explain their intended behavior, but do not establish that every site’s content will behave identically in every full-page capture or responsive implementation.
