Choose the website form or the API
For a one-off capture, ScreenshotMachine’s homepage provides a URL field and a “Full-page screenshot” option. For repeatable captures or integration into an application, use its API. The form and API are different routes; the available documentation does not establish that every advanced API setting is exposed in the form.

API endpoint: https://api.screenshotmachine.com/. The API requires an account key and the target page URL. ScreenshotMachine strongly recommends percent-encoding the URL, especially when it contains query parameters or reserved characters.
Make a full-page API request
- Choose the target page URL and percent-encode it for the request.
- Set
dimensionto the desired capture width plusxfull. For example,1366xfullrequests a full-length capture at 1366 pixels wide. - Include your account’s
keyand the encoded targeturl. - Choose a
deviceandformatif needed. The documented devices aredesktop,phone, andtablet; documented formats arejpg,png, andgif. - For a long page, or one with images or animations that may need time to load, try
delay=2000or a longer value. This is vendor guidance, not a guarantee that every page will finish rendering.

Choose width, device, format, delay, and cache behavior
Width and full-page height
The xfull suffix requests a full-length webpage capture; the number before it sets the width. Use a width that matches the layout you want to inspect. A full-page image can be very tall, so check whether the consuming application can display or process the resulting dimensions.

Device and output format
ScreenshotMachine documents desktop, phone, and tablet device choices, with example viewport dimensions of 1024×768, 480×800, and 800×1280 respectively. For a full-page request, use an appropriate width while retaining the xfull height value. The documented output formats are JPG, PNG, and GIF.
Delay and dynamic content
Some pages load images or animate content after the initial response. ScreenshotMachine recommends considering delay=2000 or more for full-length captures of pages with these behaviors. Increasing the delay gives the page more time, but it does not ensure that every lazy-loaded image, animation, or site-specific interaction will complete.

Fresh captures versus cache
The cacheLimit parameter accepts values from 0 to 14 days according to the vendor documentation. Set cacheLimit=0 when you want the service to fetch a fresh screenshot rather than use a cached image. If an older image appears, check this setting and the URL you submitted.
Clicking an element before capture
The API documents a click option for triggering a CSS-selected element before capture. It may be useful for attempting to dismiss a cookie banner, but a selector or click is not guaranteed to work on every site. Confirm the selector and page behavior against the target site.
Protect an API key used in a public page
Do not expose an account key as an unprotected value in public HTML. ScreenshotMachine suggests using its documented hash safeguard for public-page API calls. Its documentation describes calculating that hash with MD5 from the URL and the secret phrase configured in account settings. Follow the current vendor instructions carefully and keep the secret phrase out of browser-visible code.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
- The request is rejected or does not capture the intended page: Check that the account
keyis present, theurlis correctly encoded, and the endpoint and parameter names match the current API documentation. - The screenshot shows only part of the page: Verify that
dimensionends inxfull, for example1366xfull, rather than specifying a fixed height. - Images or animated content are missing: Try a longer
delay. This can help with content that needs time to load, but does not guarantee completion for every site. - A cookie prompt remains visible: The API’s documented
clickcapability can trigger a CSS-selected element, but the selector must match the page and the site must allow the interaction to work. - You keep receiving an older image: Set
cacheLimit=0to request a fresh capture. - The API key is exposed in a browser request: Move the request to a server-side integration or use ScreenshotMachine’s documented
hashsafeguard for public-page calls.

ScreenshotMachine’s pricing page listed the following allowances and prices when checked on October 3, 2026. These are vendor-published plan terms, not independent performance measurements; verify the live page before choosing a plan.
