To capture a full web page with BrowserStack Screenshots, enter its URL, choose the browser and device configurations, adjust any needed display or timing settings, and generate the screenshots. BrowserStack’s current support FAQ says full-page capture is available for browsers except Opera and Safari 5.1; those two capture only the visible area before scrolling. The exception is specific to those named versions, not all Safari releases. BrowserStack’s FAQ, checked on October 3, 2026, is its current documented answer.
Take a full-page screenshot in BrowserStack Screenshots
- Open BrowserStack Screenshots. This is the URL-based screenshot tool for checking how a page renders across browser and device configurations; it is different from capturing a Selenium browser session. Visit BrowserStack Screenshots.
- Enter the page URL. Use the page you want to inspect, and make sure it is publicly reachable if the tool cannot access your local development environment.
- Select browser and device configurations. Choose the configurations relevant to your audience. BrowserStack’s product page says one user can generate screenshots for up to 25 browser/device combinations at once; that product limit may change, so check the page if you need more.
- Set display and timing options if needed. The product page describes settings for resolution, quality, defer time, and mobile layout. Adjust these to match the rendering or loading conditions you want to inspect.
- Generate and inspect the results. Review the images for the selected configurations. A short image may be expected for the documented full-page exceptions rather than evidence that every capture failed.
Which browsers capture the whole page?
BrowserStack’s support FAQ says its full-page screenshots work for all browsers except Opera and Safari 5.1. For those two, it currently returns the visible area before scrolling. The FAQ describes this as a technical browser limitation. Because the support page has no visible publication date, treat this as BrowserStack’s documented behavior as checked October 3, 2026, rather than a permanent guarantee. Check the selected browser and version first if the image stops at the initial viewport.

Choose the right workflow for your goal
BrowserStack Screenshots for manual URL-based checks
Use the Screenshots page when you want to submit a URL, select multiple browser/device configurations, and review generated images without building a test script. It is suited to comparing renderings; it is not the same operation as taking a screenshot from a browser already controlled by your test.
BrowserStack Screenshots API for repeatable jobs
BrowserStack’s Screenshots API documentation describes submitting a URL with browser, operating-system, or device configuration, then retrieving job status and screenshot results. Authentication uses a BrowserStack username and access key. The API is documented as available only with Automate plans that include browsers, so confirm your plan and credentials before designing around it.

Selenium for screenshots inside a browser test
Selenium is a separate code-driven workflow. BrowserStack’s Selenium screenshot guide notes that the default screenshot commonly captures only the viewport and that full-page support varies by browser. It shows Firefox’s getFullPageScreenshotAs method and an AShot scroll-and-stitch approach for browsers such as Chrome. These are Selenium techniques, not steps in the BrowserStack Screenshots page.
Percy for visual snapshots
Percy is another distinct BrowserStack product. Its documentation says a viewport-only Percy snapshot can result from CSS overflow clipping content and suggests identifying the clipping element and resetting its overflow with Percy CSS. That advice applies to Percy snapshots; it is not a documented fix for BrowserStack Screenshots.

Why a result may show only the viewport
- Check the browser and version. Opera and Safari 5.1 are the specific full-page exceptions BrowserStack names in its FAQ.
- Confirm the page and configuration. Verify that the submitted URL is the intended page and that the selected browser/device settings reflect the rendering you need.
- Allow for page loading. If content appears after initial load, use the product’s defer-time setting and generate the capture again.
- Keep workflows separate. Do not apply Selenium stitching or Percy overflow advice as though it changed how the Screenshots page captures a URL.
