The right workflow depends on whether you need to keep two active sites in sync, perform a one-time content transfer, or change many records. It should not be treated as a complete site-migration tool: content transfer does not, by itself, move a site’s themes, plugins, hosting setup, and other installation files.

Its product page also describes filtering, previews, field mapping, validation, background jobs, and job history. When direct site-to-site sync fits
Direct sync is most relevant when both sites remain active and you need to move selected content between them—for example, releasing chosen posts from staging to production or repeating transfers between related sites. The vendor says to connect the sites with API keys, choose Push or Pull, preview the material, apply filters, select how conflicts should be handled, and optionally include media.

The vendor lists conflict choices as skip, update, or duplicate. It also describes syncing posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomies, menus, comments, and users across its broader sync and data descriptions. The available types can depend on the current version and tier, so confirm coverage for your content model before starting.
How the advertised sync workflow works
- Connect the source and destination WordPress sites using the API keys required by the plugin.
- Choose Push or Pull to set the transfer direction.
- Filter the material to include and review the preview before running the job.
- Choose the conflict behavior—skip, update, or duplicate—and decide whether to include media.
- Run the sync, then inspect the destination and job history.
RockStarLab describes this as a way to sync without downloading export files or writing migration scripts. That is the vendor’s feature description, not an independent assessment of security, speed, or success on a particular site.

How to migrate content between two WordPress sites
First decide whether “migrate” means moving content records or moving the whole website. For selected or repeat content transfers between connected sites, the plugin’s advertised Push/Pull workflow may fit. For a one-time content transfer using a portable file, WordPress’s built-in exporter is a baseline option: it creates an XML/WXR content file that can be imported on another WordPress site. Learn WordPress explains that this content transfer does not include the site’s design, themes, or plugins; a theme may also need to be activated on the destination for content to display as intended.
Therefore, neither a content export/import nor a content-sync feature should be assumed to transfer the entire installation, hosting configuration, theme, plugin stack, and site files. If that is the goal, choose a full-site migration workflow whose documented scope explicitly covers those components.

File imports and exports: formats and limits
RockStarLab describes field mapping, row previews, validation, background jobs, filtered exports, ZIP packaging, and job history. Its product page lists CSV, XLS, XML, ODS, and JSON across its descriptions; the WordPress.org listing specifically names CSV, XML, XLSX, and ODS imports, and CSV, XML, JSON, XLSX, and ODS exports. These lists do not establish that every format is supported in both directions or on every tier. Confirm the current format list and plan before preparing a file, and do not assume XLS and XLSX are interchangeable.
The vendor also advertises recurring schedules for import, export, sync, and update tasks. It lists mapping and metadata support involving ACF, Elementor, Yoast SEO, WooCommerce, Rank Math, and Gutenberg structures. These claims do not guarantee that every custom field, plugin configuration, or relationship will be preserved exactly; validate the results on a copy of the destination before using the workflow on live content.

Can I import large CSV, XLS, XML, or ODS files without timeouts?
Not necessarily. Background processing is a vendor-listed capability, but it cannot remove every server memory, execution-time, or hosting constraint. WordPress’s import guidance warns that large files can exceed server memory. Split a large file into manageable batches if needed, and test with the destination’s actual hosting environment rather than assuming a background job guarantees completion.
Bulk content updates are a separate workflow
Bulk editing changes records in place; it is not the same as copying content to another site. RockStarLab describes a flow in which you filter records by criteria such as date, status, taxonomy, author, or IDs, choose fields to change, preview the results, apply transformations, and execute the job with tracking. The vendor identifies Content Updater and data-transformation tools as PRO features.

This can suit targeted changes that would be tedious record by record, but treat a live bulk edit as a consequential database change. Make a recoverable backup, test on staging or a disposable copy, and inspect the preview closely before applying the update.
Media handling and duplicate prevention
RockStarLab describes Media Folder Sync as a way to scan FTP/SFTP-uploaded folders and register files in the WordPress Media Library, with duplicate detection. Its FAQ names hash, filename, and filesize strategies for avoiding duplicate media. The plugin directory also describes scanning server folders and registering files.
Duplicate detection is useful when importing media, but it is not evidence that every attachment relationship or file association will be correct on every site. Check representative media and its links after a transfer, especially if the site uses custom fields or plugin-specific content structures.

WordPress warns that a failed import may already have created some records. Retrying immediately can produce duplicates, so inspect the destination before running the same file or job again. The WordPress import documentation also discusses memory limits and import failures.
- Back up the destination and test on staging or a disposable copy before a broad import, sync, or bulk update.
- Preview selected records and fields before execution; the vendor says its workflows include preview and validation.
- After a failed job, check what arrived before retrying or changing conflict settings.
- After completion, inspect representative posts, metadata, media, and any custom content types your workflow depends on.
Choose the workflow by the job, not by the word “migration”
