YouTube does not provide a native setting that turns an ordinary video playlist into a 24/7 livestream. For a do-it-yourself setup, use OBS on a computer that stays connected; for a cloud setup, upload the videos to StreamNeo, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check your current access in YouTube Studio and confirm the latest requirements on YouTube’s live-streaming setup page.
- Yoga-class video and audio you own, created, or are licensed to distribute in a livestream.
- An encoder such as OBS Studio, which is free and open-source, or a cloud service that sends prerecorded video to YouTube Live. OBS documentation is available at the OBS Help Portal.
- A stable, continuously available internet connection and computer if you use a local encoder. The computer and encoder must remain running for a local stream to continue.
Prepare the yoga playlist and rights
Use content cleared for livestreaming
Make a playlist of classes you created or have permission to livestream. Check that every license covers the intended use, territories, and distribution as a live broadcast; permission to use a track in a recorded video does not necessarily cover livestream use. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions place responsibility for necessary rights, including music rights, on the content provider.
Plan for Content ID checks
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material, including another live broadcast. If it detects a match, it may show a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; leaving it in the stream can lead to interruption or termination. If you have a license, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist where applicable. YouTube explains the process in Copyright issues with live streams.
Make the programming meaningfully original
Build a schedule that offers real instruction or other meaningful viewer value rather than simply repeating near-identical material. YouTube’s monetization rules apply to live streams: repetitive or mass-produced programming may be ineligible, and reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement. Having permission to use content does not guarantee monetization. See YouTube channel monetization policies; eligibility depends on YouTube’s review and current rules.

Set up a 24/7 stream with OBS
- Install OBS Studio. Download it from the OBS Project Help Portal and configure it on a computer intended to stay on. You do not need dedicated encoding hardware to use OBS.
- Create the live broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, choose the live-stream creation flow, and select encoder streaming if prompted. Set the title, description, visibility, and thumbnail. Confirm the channel has livestream access before scheduling or launching.
- Copy the stream key from YouTube Studio. In the broadcast’s stream settings, copy the key and enter it only in OBS’s stream configuration. Treat it like a password: anyone with the key may be able to broadcast to your channel. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots.
- Add the yoga video source in OBS. Add the prepared video or playlist as a media source and enable looping in that source’s settings. Exact controls can vary by OBS version and by how the playlist is supplied. Test that the final class returns to the beginning cleanly and that audio continues without a gap before relying on the loop.
- Set the output to match your material and connection. Choose a resolution and frame rate your upload connection can sustain, and configure OBS’s encoder output accordingly. YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance is the place to check current recommended encoder settings; avoid choosing a higher output than your source or connection can handle.
- Start the encoder and verify the broadcast. Start streaming in OBS, then check the YouTube Live Control Room for the incoming signal and confirm the broadcast is live. Watch the loop and audio long enough to catch a failed transition before leaving it unattended.
- Keep the system available and monitor it. For a local setup, the computer, OBS, and internet connection need to remain active. A power interruption, network loss, software failure, or YouTube disconnect can stop the feed; check the stream periodically and restart the encoder if needed.

Plan for replays and archive limits
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not treat the continuous broadcast as a dependable archive of every class. If viewers need individual replays, record each class locally and upload or publish the class separately. The limit is described in YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.
Troubleshoot common interruptions
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Confirm the broadcast is ready in YouTube Studio, the correct stream key is configured in OBS, and OBS is actively streaming. If the key was exposed, replace it in Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream stops when you leave: A local encoder depends on the computer and local connection remaining active. Check sleep, power, and network settings, or use a cloud workflow that does not depend on a home computer staying on.
- The playlist stops at the end: Check the media source’s loop setting and test the transition from the last class to the first. Recheck the source after changing the playlist or updating OBS.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright warning: Remove or replace the flagged material. Confirm the license covers livestream distribution and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting; a license alone may not prevent automated interruption.
- The stream runs longer than expected but has no archive: YouTube may not capture a broadcast exceeding 12 hours. Keep separate recordings or publish individual class videos for replay access.
