How to Stream Videos on YouTube 24/7 Using OBS in India

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can broadcast prerecorded video on YouTube Live around the clock with OBS by enabling live streaming on your channel, creating an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, entering its stream key in OBS, and monitoring the live preview and stream health. This is the standard YouTube workflow in India too; it does not guarantee uninterrupted operation. You need a stable upload connection, authorized video and audio, and a plan for encoder, network, and power failures.

Before you set up OBS

  • Live access: YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its current guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio; the actual availability shown there takes precedence over a general setup guide. YouTube’s live-stream enablement requirements apply in India as well; the official guidance does not describe a separate India-only OBS process.
  • Computer and connection: OBS must run on a computer capable of encoding your chosen video and audio settings. YouTube does not specify a universal computer requirement for this workflow. Test upload stability on the network and at the location you intend to use.
  • Content permission: Have the rights to every video, song, image, and other element in the broadcast, including any music licensing needed for continuous live use. A video already uploaded to YouTube is not automatically cleared for rebroadcast.
  • Time to activate: OBS’s community-maintained YouTube integration guide notes that activation after verification can take 24 hours. Treat that as a planning note, not a guarantee; use the availability status in YouTube Studio.

Set up a YouTube Live stream in OBS

1. Enable and verify live streaming

Sign in to the YouTube account for the channel and follow the live-stream setup prompts in YouTube Studio. Complete any requested verification and confirm that the channel can go live. If Studio shows a restriction or says live streaming is not yet available, resolve that status before planning a continuous broadcast; do not try to bypass a restriction by broadcasting through another channel.

2. Create an encoder stream

Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream, or schedule one if you want a watch page available in advance. Choose the encoder workflow: OBS sends the encoded video and audio to YouTube, while YouTube handles the live watch page. Review the stream’s visibility, title, description, audience settings, and other details before sharing its link.

3. Connect OBS using YouTube’s stream details

  1. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the stream’s encoder settings and locate its server URL and stream key.
  2. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube if the integration is available, or choose the option to use a stream key and enter YouTube’s server URL and key as prompted.
  3. Keep the stream key private: anyone who has it may be able to send a broadcast to your stream. If it is exposed, reset or regenerate it in YouTube Studio and update OBS before streaming again.
  4. Save the settings. Select the OBS scene that contains the video and audio sources you intend to broadcast; confirm that the sources are visible and that audio registers on OBS’s meters.

OBS interface labels can change, and the exact connection choices may depend on the installed OBS version. YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the current Live Control Room are the authoritative connection details.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

4. Set video, audio, and network parameters

In OBS, choose output settings that the computer can encode reliably and the upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a keyframe interval of two seconds (not more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. Use RTMPS where supported. Resolution and bitrate should match the source, encoder capacity, and connection; selecting the maximum available resolution is not a substitute for a stable stream.

YouTube recommends that total streaming bitrate stay within available upload bandwidth and that you leave 20% headroom. For example, a stream using 10 Mbps total bitrate needs at least 12.5 Mbps of available upload capacity to leave 20% unused. That calculation is a planning illustration, not a guarantee of stability: other devices and users on a shared network can consume bandwidth, and network disruptions can still break the stream.

For a 24/7 broadcast, test the actual connection path at the location where the computer will run. A wired Ethernet connection may help avoid some wireless variability where compatible, but neither a cable nor a speed-test result ensures uninterrupted service.

5. Test, preview, then go live

  1. Start streaming from OBS so it sends a signal to YouTube.
  2. Check the Live Control Room preview for the correct video, sound, and orientation. Use representative movement and audio in your test rather than a static screen alone.
  3. Check YouTube’s stream-health messages and fix any warnings before going public.
  4. When the preview is ready, select Go live in the Live Control Room if the stream has not already been started there.
  5. Verify the stream from its watch page and, where possible, on a phone or another device. Confirm that the local recording file is growing if you are recording a backup.

Plan for a broadcast longer than 12 hours

YouTube Help warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a 24-hour feed may have no complete YouTube replay. YouTube also says DVR pause-and-rewind capabilities may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise viewers a full-day replay or rewind buffer.

If preserving a replay matters, record locally and test that the recording is being saved before relying on it. A local file is a backup only if the computer has enough storage, remains powered, and the recording continues correctly; use a separate tested recording plan if a complete archive is essential.

One extended broadcast or shorter sessions?

Approach What it helps with Trade-off
One extended broadcast Viewers have one continuous live destination. Beyond 12 hours, YouTube may not capture the stream at all, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. A failure can interrupt the broadcast.
Shorter scheduled sessions Sessions kept under 12 hours align better with YouTube’s stated archive behavior. Transitions can interrupt continuity, and session length does not guarantee a complete archive or prevent failures.

Choose based on whether continuity or a more manageable archive matters more, and on whether someone can monitor the setup. Neither approach is a guaranteed 24/7 uptime or recording solution.

Copyright, channel rules, and monetization

Use content you are authorized to broadcast

YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to follow its Community Guidelines and applicable laws, and to hold the rights needed to use live content, including relevant music rights. Use original, licensed, or otherwise authorized video and audio; check that any license covers the territories and continuous live use you plan. Repeating a recording does not remove those obligations.

Live-stream restrictions can prevent a channel from broadcasting. Do not use another channel to evade a restriction on the channel you intend to use.

Do not assume live hours mean earnings

YouTube says eligible channels in the YouTube Partner Program can monetize live streams when monetization is enabled. Eligibility, ad settings, and ad delivery determine whether monetization is available; simply running a stream continuously does not guarantee approval, ads, or a particular income. The official guidance cited here does not establish an India-specific earnings figure for a 24/7 OBS stream.

Troubleshooting a YouTube 24/7 stream

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
OBS cannot connect or YouTube receives no signal Incorrect server URL or stream key, live access not enabled, or a temporary connection problem. Confirm live availability in Studio, copy the current server URL and key from the correct stream, and check the network. Reset the key if it may have been exposed.
Preview is unstable or stream health reports a problem Upload capacity is insufficient or varies, competing network use, or encoder load. Check total bitrate against available upload bandwidth and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Reduce output demands if needed, close competing uploads, and test again with representative video and audio.
Video is present but audio is missing or wrong Wrong OBS audio source, muted source, or an unsuitable audio configuration. Watch OBS’s audio meters while the intended source plays, check mute states and selected sources, then confirm sound in the Live Control Room preview.
The broadcast stops while the computer is unattended Power loss, a computer or OBS failure, or a network disruption. Check the computer, OBS, router, and internet connection, then reconnect and inspect Studio’s stream health. The cited YouTube guidance does not promise automatic recovery from every failure, so arrange monitoring and a restart plan.
No complete replay appears after the stream The broadcast exceeded 12 hours. YouTube says a stream over 12 hours may not be captured at all. For future broadcasts where replay matters, use and verify a local or separate recording plan.
Viewers cannot rewind far back DVR may be limited or unavailable on a stream longer than 12 hours. Set expectations with viewers; do not treat the live feed as a guaranteed full-day rewind archive.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is a continuous YouTube channel rather than learning to operate an OBS computer all day, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos or playlists on YouTube Live. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. In India, UPI and cards are accepted.
