Yes—Asobi: Remote Play can stream games from your PS5 to a Steam Deck. It uses the PS5’s Remote Play connection, so the game runs on the console while the Deck receives the video and sends controller input. You need Remote Play enabled on the PS5, an eight-digit pairing PIN, a compatible controller and a reasonably strong home network. Asobi’s 2026 Steam listing describes a baseline of 1080p at 30 fps in SDR; its premium feature list advertises up to 1080p at 60 fps with HDR.
What Asobi does—and what it does not do
Asobi is an independent PS4/PS5 Remote Play client for SteamOS and Linux. It does not install or run PS5 games natively on the Steam Deck. Instead, the PS5 renders the game and streams it to the Deck, including games installed on the console or otherwise available through that console’s library.

Remote Play is different from cloud streaming. The optional PlayStation Plus Premium cloud-streaming route works only for supported titles and where the service is available; catalog and regional availability can change. Asobi’s Steam listing notes that PS3, PS4 and PS5 cloud-streaming compatibility is optional and requires that subscription.
Asobi also states that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

What you need before pairing
- A Steam Deck running SteamOS with Asobi: Remote Play installed from Steam.
- A PS5 connected to the same network for the initial setup. Remote Play over the internet can be used afterward when the console and network meet Sony’s requirements.
- Remote Play enabled in the PS5 settings.
- A compatible controller. DualSense and DualShock 4 are specifically supported; Xbox and other compatible Bluetooth controllers may also work.
- Preferably, Ethernet from the PS5 to your router and 5 GHz Wi-Fi for the Steam Deck.
How to set up Asobi on Steam Deck
- Install Asobi. Open Steam on the Deck, search for Asobi: Remote Play, and install it. The Steam listing identifies SteamOS/Linux support.
- Enable Remote Play on the PS5. On the console, open Settings → System → Remote Play and turn on Enable Remote Play.
- Generate the pairing PIN. On the PS5, go to Settings → System → Remote Play → Link Device. Leave this screen open and note the eight-digit PIN.
- Add the console in Asobi. Launch Asobi on the Deck, choose Add Console, select the discovered PS5 and enter the eight-digit PIN. Registration is a one-time pairing process.
- Pair a controller. Connect a DualSense, DualShock 4 or another compatible controller over Bluetooth. DualSense is the best match if you want the PlayStation-specific features Asobi advertises.
- Connect. Select the saved PS5 in Asobi and choose Connect. After setup, the console can be woken from Rest Mode when the relevant PS5 settings allow it.
Network settings for a steadier stream
Put the PS5 on Ethernet whenever possible. A wired console-to-router link removes one variable from the connection, while 5 GHz Wi-Fi is the preferred wireless band for the Deck. Keep the Deck within good range of the access point and avoid competing traffic such as large downloads, cloud backups or video uploads.
If the picture stutters or input feels inconsistent, lower Asobi’s bitrate first and close bandwidth-heavy applications. Asobi lists automatic bitrate adjustment in its baseline feature set; premium features include manual bitrate control and low-latency modes. A faster connection cannot eliminate every delay, because controller input, encoding and decoding still add latency.

- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
Resolution, frame rate and HDR
| Asobi offering | Advertised capability | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline Steam listing | 1080p, 30 fps, SDR | The standard advertised Remote Play target for 2026. |
| Premium feature list | Up to 1080p, 60 fps, HDR | Higher frame rate and HDR are advertised as premium capabilities, not a guarantee for every network or game. |
| Additional premium controls | Manual bitrate, low-latency modes, DualSense haptics, gyro and adaptive triggers | These features depend on the controller, game and connection supporting them. |
HDR requires an HDR-capable display path. The Steam Deck model, operating-system configuration and the game itself can affect whether HDR is actually presented as intended. Treat the advertised maximum as a ceiling rather than a promise of constant 1080p/60 HDR performance.

DualSense
A DualSense Wireless Controller is the clearest choice when you want the advertised haptics, gyro and adaptive triggers. Whether a particular game uses each feature still depends on the title and the connection.

- Ultra Customizable Controls
- Mappable Back Buttons
- DualSense Wireless Controller Features Built In
- Replaceable Stick Modules and Caps
Ethernet cable
A Cat6 Ethernet cable is useful for wiring the PS5 to the router, which is the network arrangement Asobi recommends for stability. The Deck can remain on 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

The PS5 is not discovered
- Confirm the Deck and PS5 are on the same local network during registration.
- Check that Remote Play is enabled at Settings → System → Remote Play.
- Open Link Device again and use a fresh eight-digit PIN before it expires.
- Restart Asobi and the PS5, then repeat Add Console.
Video is choppy or blurry
- Move the Deck to 5 GHz Wi-Fi and connect the PS5 by Ethernet.
- Reduce the bitrate in Asobi, especially when other devices are using the connection.
- Pause downloads, backups and streaming on the network.
The controller does not respond
- Pair it with the Deck over Bluetooth before connecting to the saved console.
- Confirm that the controller is compatible and has sufficient charge.
- For PlayStation-specific features, test with a DualSense.
Remote Play works locally but not away from home
Internet Remote Play depends on the PS5 being configured to wake from Rest Mode and on the console’s home network, router and internet connection. Local success does not prove that an outside network will provide stable latency or bandwidth.
Bottom line
Asobi is a straightforward way to play PS5 games on a Steam Deck through Remote Play: install it from Steam, enable Remote Play, pair with the eight-digit PIN and connect a controller. Use Ethernet for the PS5 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi for the Deck, then lower bitrate if the stream struggles. The standard listing targets 1080p/30 SDR, while premium features advertise up to 1080p/60 HDR and expanded DualSense support. It remains streaming, not native PS5 execution, and cloud streaming is a separate, availability-limited PlayStation Plus option.
