You can stream Gurbani continuously from a Windows PC by looping a local media file in OBS, sending OBS’s output to YouTube Live with a stream key, and keeping the computer, OBS, source media, and internet connection running. This guide covers setup, sustainable stream settings, continuity, archiving, and rights checks; a local-PC stream is not guaranteed to stay uninterrupted.
Before you begin
Have a Windows PC with OBS installed, a stable internet connection, a Gurbani audio or video file you are authorized to broadcast, and a YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. For a continuous broadcast, the PC must stay powered on, OBS must keep running, and the source and network must remain available.

- Check that YouTube Live is enabled for the channel. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the planned start time. Follow the current YouTube Live Control Room flow; labels may change.
- Use a recording and any artwork or other visuals only after checking the rights for those exact materials. A devotional subject does not establish that a particular recording is free to rebroadcast.
- Run an upload-speed test and plan output settings around the connection’s sustained capacity, not a brief peak.
Create the YouTube encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create an encoder stream, or schedule one if you want a watch page available ahead of time. YouTube’s current setup screens guide you through the available choices.
- In the stream’s settings, locate its stream URL and stream key. The key is a password-like credential that authorizes an encoder to send video to your channel. Keep it private; if it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio.
- If you schedule the stream, use the scheduled event’s preview and follow the Live Control Room prompts to start the public broadcast. Creating the event and sending an OBS feed are separate from completing YouTube’s go-live step.

Loop one local recording
- In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast and give it a clear name, such as “Gurbani 24/7.”
- Add the visual you intend to show. For an audio-only recording, this could be a static image you have rights to use. Check the preview so the image is framed as intended.
- In the Sources panel, select the plus button and add a Media Source. Name it, then browse to the local audio or video file.
- Enable the Media Source’s Loop property and confirm the source is active. Play the scene briefly to check that both the picture and sound behave as expected.

Loop a playlist of recordings
For multiple files, OBS’s VLC Video source can play a playlist and loop it. VLC must be installed, and OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires the matching 64-bit VLC build. Add the files in the intended order, enable playlist looping, and test transitions and audio levels before the broadcast. See OBS’s media-source documentation.
Connect OBS to YouTube
- In OBS, open Settings and then Stream. Choose YouTube if the service is offered in the interface, then connect as directed; alternatively, choose the custom server option and enter the stream URL and key shown in YouTube Studio.
- Apply the settings and return to the main OBS window. Start the stream and check that YouTube’s Live Control Room receives the encoder feed and displays a preview.
- For a scheduled event, complete any remaining YouTube go-live prompt when you are ready to broadcast. Avoid sharing screenshots or screen recordings that expose the stream key.
Choose output settings your connection can sustain
YouTube’s encoder guidance varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate; its published bitrate table does not state a publication year. The figures below are platform guidance, not settings tested on your PC. Check YouTube’s current table before publishing or configuring a stream.

These are the cited examples from YouTube’s encoder settings documentation, not universal targets. The appropriate setting depends on the selected codec and video mode and on the upload bandwidth you can sustain. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate, using CBR, setting a two-second keyframe interval (not longer than four seconds), and using RTMPS where available.
- Test upload speed at the location and time you expect to stream. Leave headroom for normal network variation and other devices using the connection.
- In OBS, open Settings > Output and select a streaming bitrate your stable upload can support. Match the encoder and rate-control options to YouTube’s current guidance for your chosen resolution and frame rate.
- In Settings > Video, set a base canvas and output resolution that fit your visual and connection. Choose a frame rate appropriate to the material; a static image with audio does not need motion-oriented settings merely because a higher frame rate is available.
- Set the keyframe interval to two seconds, keeping it at or below YouTube’s four-second maximum, and use CBR and RTMPS as recommended when those options are available in your OBS encoder configuration.
- Run a private or otherwise suitable test with representative audio and visuals. Watch the YouTube stream-health status and listen for clipping, silence, or interruptions before relying on the setup.
Keep the PC stream running
A 24/7 OBS stream depends on the local setup: Windows must stay powered, OBS must not be closed or stopped, the source must continue playing, and both power and internet must remain available. The official guidance does not promise uninterrupted operation for a particular computer or connection.

- Use power settings that will not put the PC to sleep during the broadcast, and make sure the computer has dependable power.
- OBS recommends a wired connection when Wi-Fi instability causes streaming problems. Ethernet is a stability option, not a requirement for every setup.
- Monitor OBS and YouTube’s stream health after starting, especially during the first test. A long-running stream still needs occasional checks for source playback, audio, connection, and encoder status.
- Have a restart plan for a Windows update, power interruption, OBS crash, or network outage. A local PC workflow does not itself provide automatic recovery after those failures.
If OBS reports dropped frames, the connection may not sustain the selected bitrate. Lower the bitrate to fit stable upload capacity, check whether other traffic is consuming bandwidth, and investigate connection or server issues using OBS’s dropped-frames troubleshooting guide. OBS specifically recommends wired networking when Wi-Fi instability is a problem.

YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise a complete archive for one uninterrupted stream longer than 12 hours. If you need a full recording of a continuous broadcast, plan a separate recording or archive workflow and verify current YouTube behavior rather than relying on a single long livestream archive. Check copyright and Content ID before broadcasting
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A detected match may lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the live stream to proceed without interruption. Confirm permission for the exact Gurbani recording, and for any image, video, or other material in the scene; the devotional nature of the content does not settle those rights questions.
