You can rotate game reviews and walkthroughs as a continuous YouTube live feed by playing prepared videos into an encoder or using a cloud streaming service. The crucial catches: enable live streaming ahead of time, clear rights for every part of the feed, and keep each YouTube session under 12 hours if you need YouTube’s automatic archive. YouTube warns that longer streams may not be captured at all.
Choose how to play the archive
For prerecorded footage, use a playback system that feeds an encoder or a cloud streaming service. YouTube describes encoders as suitable for gameplay, overlays, and advanced production; its encoder directory includes both software or hardware options and cloud services. The directory is a list, not an endorsement or a guarantee of a provider’s terms. It does not prescribe a particular playlist automation tool.

- Self-hosted encoder: You control playback and production locally, but the computer and streaming process must remain running.
- Cloud-managed service: Playback and streaming run through a third party, reducing dependence on a computer at home but making you dependent on that service.
YouTube does not provide comparable prices or uptime promises for these options in its encoder directory. [YouTube encoder information]

Check channel eligibility before stream day
- Verify the YouTube channel if you have not already.
- Confirm live streaming is enabled and that the channel has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- If this is the channel’s first time going live, enable it well ahead of your planned start. YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours.
Check YouTube’s current live-stream setup instructions before scheduling; a last-minute activation may delay your broadcast. [YouTube live-streaming eligibility and setup] [YouTube encoder setup]

Clear the rights for every video and audio track
Do not assume that owning a game or having uploaded a walkthrough before gives you permission to rebroadcast it continuously. Check the applicable rights and policies for the gameplay footage, captured game audio, soundtrack, commentary, overlays, and any third-party clips or music. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish that every publisher permits continuous rebroadcast of every game.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Detection may replace the feed with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate the stream. If a rights holder has licensed content but a stream is interrupted, YouTube says the holder may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. [YouTube guidance on copyrighted content in live streams] [YouTube livestream terms]
YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is a contractual statement from YouTube, not legal advice. Prepare and connect the playlist
- Arrange the reviews and walkthroughs in the intended order in a playback system that can feed your encoder or cloud service. Check that each source video plays and has usable audio before adding it.
- In YouTube Studio, open Create and choose Go live to enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream and set its visibility for testing.
- In the encoder or service, select the stream URL and stream key provided by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not reveal it in a screen capture, public post, or recording. If it becomes exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
- Start the encoder or cloud feed, then confirm that Live Control Room receives the signal and that the preview shows the intended archive content.
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the stream URL and key to connect the encoder to the live event. Exact controls can change, so follow the labels shown in your current Studio interface. [YouTube encoder setup]
Test the complete broadcast
Run a private or unlisted test before making the archive feed public. Check the Live Control Room preview, audio level and sync, picture, playback order, and watch-page access. Confirm that the local recording file exists and is growing if you are recording a backup; a recording that never started is not a backup.
- Check that viewers can reach the watch page with the selected visibility setting.
- Listen for missing, doubled, or unexpectedly loud audio between archive videos.
- Watch the transition between items and confirm playback returns to the intended next video.
- Keep bandwidth headroom: YouTube recommends upload capacity 20% above the stream’s bitrate.
- Monitor the feed and the local recording during operation rather than assuming either is healthy.
YouTube recommends preview checks, monitoring, and verifying local recording files. The 20% headroom figure is its guidance, not a measured guarantee of successful streaming. [YouTube live-streaming tips]

Plan sessions around YouTube’s archive limit
If you want YouTube’s automatic archive, schedule individual sessions for less than 12 hours. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but explicitly warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. “Can” is not a guarantee, so retain a separate local recording when the archive matters.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To run continuously, plan shorter sessions and restart the broadcast between them. That requires an operator or dependable automation. YouTube’s cited guidance does not promise seamless playback for viewers across session boundaries, so expect that each restart may create a separate live event or interruption. [YouTube live-stream archives]
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Keep a separate recording and organize the archive
A platform archive is convenient, but a local recording gives you a separately controlled copy. Check during the stream that the file is growing and inspect it after the session to make sure it plays through. Storage needs depend on the recording bitrate, session length, and how long you want to retain copies; calculate capacity from those values rather than assuming a particular drive size.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for a current restriction. If enabling live streaming for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Studio does not receive the encoder feed: check that the encoder uses the current event’s stream URL and key, then confirm the encoder is actually sending. Replace an exposed key.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: check YouTube’s copyright notices and review rights for gameplay, soundtrack, captured audio, and other included material. If the rights holder licensed the content, ask whether the channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist.
- The YouTube archive is missing: check whether the session exceeded 12 hours. YouTube warns that such a stream may not be captured; use shorter sessions and a verified local recording for future broadcasts.
- The backup recording is absent or incomplete: confirm the recording process was started, check that its file is growing while live, and inspect the file after the session.
- Viewers cannot find or open the stream: verify event visibility and test the watch page from a viewer’s perspective before relying on the broadcast.
