Check the incoming feed in Live Control Room before starting the event. YouTube handles the live event and preview; the encoder supplies the prerecorded content, and its file-playback controls depend on the encoder you choose.
Before scheduling: check eligibility and rights
Make sure the channel is eligible to stream and that you have permission to broadcast and archive every part of the replay. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16. Check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio because account-specific restrictions can apply. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
Review the replay’s music, third-party footage, graphics, product demonstrations, and other licensed material. YouTube’s livestream terms require live content to comply with Community Guidelines and say the provider must have the necessary rights for use of the content on Google services, including music licensing rights. A license’s coverage can depend on territory and use, so confirm that it covers the planned live broadcast and archive. YouTube: Live streaming terms
Schedule the replay in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create, then Go Live.
- Open the Manage tab and schedule a new stream. Set its title, description, audience, visibility, and scheduled start time.
- Make the format clear in the title or description—for example, “Product launch replay”—so viewers know this is prerecorded footage presented as a live event.
- Save the event. Scheduling can create an upcoming watch page that you can share; viewers may also be able to opt into notifications.
For the current Studio flow, see YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Connect an encoder and load the video
- Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room and locate its stream settings. Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your chosen encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it outside the people who need to configure the broadcast.
- In the encoder, select the prerecorded launch file as the video and audio input. If you need a countdown, opening slate, or other scene, configure it in the encoder—not in YouTube Studio. File selection, playback, scene switching, and looping controls differ by encoder; consult that encoder’s documentation for the exact controls.
- Use a software encoder or a hardware encoder, depending on your production needs. YouTube supports both; hardware is an option for higher-production setups, not a requirement. YouTube also notes that expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- Set the encoder’s output to suit the source video and your available upload connection. Avoid upscaling a low-resolution replay just to select a higher output resolution. Use the encoder’s supported settings and YouTube’s current guidance for resolution, bitrate, and keyframes; the appropriate values depend on the selected resolution, frame rate, and encoder.
YouTube’s encoder instructions explain connecting an encoder and managing the stream, but do not give a universal procedure for playing a local video file. That part is specific to the encoder. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
Test, preview, and start the event
- Test the complete setup before launch day: file playback, picture, audio levels, encoder connection, and the correct scheduled event and stream key.
- Start sending the encoder feed at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. YouTube recommends this lead time so you can check the incoming signal and address problems before going live. YouTube Help: Streaming tips
- In Live Control Room, wait for the encoder preview and verify that video and audio are present and synchronized. Check the preview for the right file, framing, and sound before starting the event.
- When the preview is correct and you are ready for viewers, start the event from Live Control Room. Keep an eye on the feed throughout the broadcast.
Monitor and end the broadcast
Watch for interruptions, missing audio, or picture problems while the replay runs. When the event is finished, end the stream in YouTube and stop the encoder from sending the feed as appropriate. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume the same automatic archive behavior for a stream lasting 12 hours or longer. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

Troubleshoot common problems
- No encoder preview: Confirm the encoder is sending to the scheduled event’s stream URL and using that event’s current key. Check that the encoder is actually playing the file and sending a signal, then allow time for Live Control Room to detect it.
- Wrong event or key: Reopen the scheduled stream in Studio and verify that the encoder settings match it. If a key has been changed or replaced, update the encoder before trying again.
- Video appears but audio is missing: Check that the file has an audio track, that the encoder selected it, and that the encoder’s audio meter is moving. Verify the preview before starting the event.
- Choppy or unstable picture: Check the encoder’s connection and output settings. Reduce the output load if the available upload connection cannot sustain it, and test again before the scheduled start.
- Playback ends before the live event: Check the encoder’s file-playback behavior and whether it is configured to stop, hold, or repeat at the end. These controls are encoder-specific; YouTube does not provide a universal file-looping switch for the encoder workflow.
- Copyright claim or restriction: Review the rights for music and other third-party material in the replay. Permission to use an asset in an edited video does not necessarily establish permission for a live broadcast or archive in every territory.
