Larix Broadcaster is documented for mobile live capture and publishing, not for selecting and playing a pre-recorded playlist. To stream local videos in sequence, use OBS Media Source to build the playlist and send its output to YouTube Live. Larix can still be useful for a mobile camera stream, but the official documentation reviewed does not establish it as the playlist player.
Can Larix Broadcaster play a pre-recorded playlist?
Softvelum documents Larix Broadcaster for mobile live capture and RTMP/RTMPS publishing to YouTube. The reviewed official Larix pages do not document a prerecorded-playlist input. That is a limit of what the documentation establishes—not proof that no device-specific workaround exists. For a documented local-file playlist workflow, use OBS on a computer, then publish OBS’s output to YouTube Live.
Larix is available for iOS and Android according to Softvelum; its product page lists iOS 16.0 and Android 7.0 compatibility. Availability and requirements can change, so check the current app listing for your device. Softvelum Larix Broadcaster

| Approach | Playlist input | YouTube output | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Larix Broadcaster | Prerecorded playlist input is not documented in the official material reviewed. | Softvelum documents RTMP/RTMPS publishing and a YouTube server/key pattern. | Mobile live camera capture and contribution. |
| OBS Media Source | OBS documents local media sources and playlist ordering or shuffle controls. | Send the encoder output to YouTube using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. | Playing a local prerecorded playlist as the live program. |
OBS lists common local media formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. Format support does not guarantee every file will play correctly in every installed build; test your files and audio before scheduling the broadcast. OBS Project: Media Sources
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up the playlist in OBS
- Prepare the files. Put the videos in a stable local folder, decide their order, and check that each has the intended audio. Avoid moving or renaming files after adding them to OBS.
- Add a Media Source. In OBS, add a Media Source and use its playlist controls to add the local video files. Set the order or choose shuffle according to the program you want. The precise control labels can vary by OBS version; use the installed build’s Media Source properties and verify the playlist in preview. OBS Media Sources documentation
- Preview playback. Start the source and watch the preview through at least a transition between clips. Check picture, audio levels, aspect ratio, and whether the next clip starts as intended. Fix missing files or unsupported media before connecting to YouTube.
- Keep the computer and connection available. In this DIY method, OBS must remain open and the computer must continue sending the encoded stream for the playlist to appear live.
Create the YouTube Live stream and connect OBS
- Enable live streaming early. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select a stream. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until broadcast time. YouTube Help: Create a live stream with an encoder
- Copy the ingest details. In the stream’s settings in YouTube Studio, copy the server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Use the exact values YouTube displays for that stream. Treat the key as a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it in YouTube if it is exposed. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses these two values to receive your broadcast. YouTube encoder setup
- Prefer RTMPS when available. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP. Select the secure server URL provided by YouTube Studio where the encoder supports it; do not substitute a sample endpoint for the current value shown in your account. YouTube Help: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- Match encoder settings to YouTube guidance. YouTube’s general recommendations include H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate, frame rates up to 60 fps, and a two-second keyframe interval recommendation that should not exceed four seconds. Set these in OBS if available, and check YouTube’s current encoder recommendations before the stream because platform guidance can change. These are YouTube recommendations, not a promise that every encoder or device exposes identical controls. YouTube encoder recommendations
- Start sending and check the preview. Start streaming from OBS. YouTube says the preview appears after the encoder begins sending. For a scheduled stream, review it in Live Control Room and click Go live there if required by that stream’s workflow. Confirm picture and audio in the preview before making the broadcast public.
- End the broadcast cleanly. Stop the stream from the encoder and end it in YouTube Studio as appropriate. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not rely on automatic archiving for a longer broadcast. YouTube encoder help
Where Larix fits—and how its YouTube setup differs
If your program is a live phone camera feed, Larix can publish to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. Softvelum’s documentation gives rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2 as an example server address and explains the stream-key publishing pattern. Use the current ingest values from YouTube Studio rather than assuming that example remains the right endpoint for your account. Larix Broadcaster documentation
Softvelum’s Grove example configures YouTube in video-plus-audio mode. It does not support treating that documented example as a silent video-only or audio-only setup. This is relevant if you are using Larix for a live contribution; it does not add playlist playback to Larix. Softvelum Grove guide

Copyright, reused content, and broadcast checks
- Use material you have the right to stream. A playlist being prerecorded does not itself establish permission to broadcast the videos, music, performances, or other included material. Check rights and any applicable licenses before going live.
- Review YouTube’s rules. Copyright claims, restrictions, or platform policies may affect a stream or its archive. Check YouTube’s current policies and the status of your channel and content rather than assuming that a previously uploaded video is cleared for a live rebroadcast.
- Make the program intentional. Confirm the playlist order, transitions, sound, and stream title/visibility in advance. A live encoder output does not guarantee that viewers will see a useful or policy-compliant program.
- Protect the stream key. Anyone with the key may be able to send video to your stream. Keep it private and replace it if it leaks.
Troubleshooting common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start YouTube Live for the first time. | Live streaming may still be undergoing first-time enablement. | Enable it in YouTube Studio in advance; YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. |
| YouTube receives no signal. | OBS is not sending, or the server URL or stream key is incorrect. | Confirm OBS is streaming and copy the current URL and key again from the intended YouTube stream. Keep the key private. |
| The stream connects but a scheduled event is not public. | The encoder signal is present, but the scheduled stream may still require a Live Control Room action. | Check the preview in Live Control Room and use its Go live action if that event requires it. |
| A playlist item is blank, silent, or fails to advance. | The file path, media compatibility, source settings, or the file’s own audio may be at fault. | Confirm the file remains at the path OBS expects, test playback in preview, and verify the clip’s audio and playlist order before going live. |
| Larix does not show a way to select the prerecorded files. | The reviewed Larix documentation describes live capture and publishing, not a playlist source. | Use OBS Media Source for the local playlist; use Larix for its documented mobile live-capture role. |
| The picture or audio is unstable. | Encoder settings may not align with YouTube recommendations, or the device/network may not sustain the output. | Check H.264, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate, frame rate, and the recommended two-second keyframe interval (maximum four seconds) against YouTube’s current guidance; then test the actual stream preview. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a YouTube channel that keeps looping uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a cloud option rather than a Larix playlist feature. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo runs the stream in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; it plays your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its plans. Start the free day at StreamNeo registration.
