You can try streaming a playlist by starting a mobile live stream in the YouTube app and choosing Screencast. That shares the phone screen, but YouTube’s instructions do not guarantee that every Android phone and playlist app will send its internal audio to the broadcast. Check eligibility first, then rehearse privately and verify both sound and picture from another device before sharing a public link.
Check that your channel and phone are eligible
YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements include all of the following:

- At least 50 subscribers.
- A verified YouTube channel.
- No live-streaming restriction on the channel in the past 90 days.
- Live streaming enabled for the channel. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Android 8.0 or later.
- The streamer must be at least 16 under YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance.
See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements and general live-streaming guidance. If you do not meet a requirement, the mobile live option may be unavailable; resolve that before troubleshooting the playlist.
Choose what viewers need to see
If the playlist app, its controls, or a visualizer must appear in the broadcast, use the YouTube app’s Screencast option. Screencast shares what is on the phone screen. It is not the same as sending a clean audio feed, and YouTube’s documentation does not promise internal-audio capture for every phone, Android version, or player app.

If viewers only need to hear the playlist, do not assume that screen sharing will route its audio. The sources do not establish a universal Android setting or method that makes all playlist apps’ internal audio available to YouTube Live. Test the exact combination of phone, app, and YouTube setup you intend to use.
Start a mobile screencast in the YouTube app
- Open the YouTube app and sign in to the eligible channel.
- Tap Create → Live.
- Enter the stream details, including a clear title and the intended visibility. Choose Private for a rehearsal where available.
- Choose Screencast as the source when prompted.
- Follow the app’s prompts to begin the live stream, then open the playlist app and display the content you want viewers to see.
Labels or prompts can vary by app version and device. YouTube’s Android live-streaming instructions describe the mobile flow and Screencast option.

Rehearse before sharing the stream
- Start a private or practice test if that option is available on your channel and app. YouTube says practice mode is rolling out, so it may not appear for everyone.
- Play the intended playlist and check that the broadcast shows the right screen and receives the expected sound.
- Watch the test on a second device. The phone you are streaming from may not reveal missing or distorted broadcast audio as clearly as an independent playback check.
- Check for interruptions on the phone: notifications, calls, app changes, or a locked screen can affect what viewers see or hear. Confirm the result rather than assuming the phone will behave the same way during a longer stream.
- Only share a public link after confirming the picture and sound in the broadcast.
Use an Android encoder if you need more control
YouTube also supports encoder-based live streaming, a route intended for more control over production and screen sharing. In general, you create or open a live stream in YouTube, copy its stream URL and stream key, and enter them in the encoder app. Treat the key as a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your stream.

Check the app’s current capabilities for your device and run the same private rehearsal before going public. Encoder streaming does not remove the channel eligibility requirements.

Protect the stream from music-rights problems
Being able to play a song or access a playlist does not, by itself, give you permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube says all live streams are scanned for third-party content, including copyrighted material. If protected content remains in a stream, YouTube may replace it with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate the broadcast.

A license may not be enough to prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with your label or distributor before using protected music in a live stream. Check the applicable terms and permissions with the relevant service and rights holders; do not treat this article as a legal determination.

End the stream and check its archive
When finished, return to the YouTube app and tap Finish to end the mobile stream. YouTube’s Android instructions say this creates an archive. Review the archive and its privacy setting; you can change the privacy or delete the archive. A copyright claim can appear after the live broadcast, including when the stream has been archived.
Troubleshooting: what to check when something goes wrong
