To stream a looping video at a scheduled time, schedule the event in YouTube Studio and use an encoder to send a video or playlist that repeats. Scheduling sets up the YouTube event; it does not make the video loop. The encoder must keep supplying the feed, and you normally confirm the broadcast by clicking Go live after YouTube displays its preview.
Before you schedule: enable YouTube Live
If you have never streamed from your channel before, enable live streaming in YouTube Studio ahead of time. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours; that is a possible wait, not a typical or guaranteed processing time. Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- Open the Manage tab and choose Schedule stream.
- Reuse settings from an earlier event or create a new one.
- Set the event’s date and time, then enter its title, description, visibility, and other stream details.
- Save the scheduled event. You can promote its watch page so viewers can find it and opt into notifications.
YouTube’s scheduled event creates the destination and watch page. The encoder still has to send the video feed when the event is due.

Set up a repeating video feed in an encoder
Choose an encoder that can play a local video file or playlist repeatedly. OBS is one software option. Configure the repeat behavior in the encoder or its media source—not in the YouTube event. The YouTube setup documentation explains how to connect an encoder, but does not give current OBS menu-by-menu instructions for looping media, so check the current OBS documentation for the exact controls in your version.

Before the start time, check that the selected media and repeat behavior are correct, and that the computer or encoder will remain running and connected while the feed is needed. If the encoder stops sending, scheduling alone cannot keep the video on air.
Connect the encoder to the scheduled event
- Open the scheduled event’s stream setup in YouTube Studio and find its stream URL and stream key.
- In the encoder, select YouTube if it offers that connection option. Otherwise, paste YouTube’s stream URL into the server field and the stream key into the key field.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not share it or expose it in a public recording or screenshot.
- Save the encoder settings and start sending the repeating feed in time to check the event before its scheduled start.
Start the stream and confirm the scheduled start behavior
After the encoder begins sending video, wait for the preview to appear in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. In the standard flow, click Go live to start the event. YouTube also supports automatic-start behavior, but do not assume it is enabled: check the setting for the actual stream before relying on a start without a manual click. End the event and understand the archive limit
End the broadcast deliberately when you are finished. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that a stream lasting 12 hours or longer will be saved as one complete replay, so do not rely on a long-running loop producing a complete archive.

- Live streaming is not available yet: If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable the feature in advance. YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The scheduled watch page exists, but no video appears: The event does not provide its own looping source. Start the encoder and confirm it is sending the correct feed.
- The encoder connects to the wrong event: Recheck that its stream URL and key belong to the scheduled event you intend to use.
- The preview appears, but the event does not start: In the standard workflow, click Go live. If you expect automatic start, verify that it is enabled for this event rather than assuming the scheduled time starts it automatically.
- The video plays once and stops: Check the encoder’s media-source or playlist repeat setting; YouTube scheduling does not control repetition.
- The feed stops while unattended: The local encoder and its connection must keep running for the feed to continue. Check the computer, encoder, and network if you are using a local setup.
- The archive is incomplete or missing after a long broadcast: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive condition is for streams under 12 hours; it does not promise one complete replay for longer streams.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Only loop video and audio you have the rights to stream. A scheduled start does not change copyright obligations or YouTube’s channel policies. Repeatedly broadcasting material you do not own or lack permission to use can lead to claims or other consequences; review the rights for every part of a playlist before putting it on air.
