You can stream an ordered Hindi video playlist to YouTube Live with FFmpeg by joining compatible files with FFmpeg’s concat demuxer, looping that playlist, and sending the output to the RTMPS URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. The exact command depends on the files’ formats and stream layouts; test an unlisted stream before relying on it unattended. You also need live-streaming access and permission to broadcast every item in the playlist.
Before you start: access, files, and rights
Confirm YouTube Live eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to live stream. Check access before preparing a long-running broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
Check every playlist item’s rights
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the feed with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even licensed material can be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Confirm that you have the necessary rights and any required channel allowlisting for every video; Hindi-language content is subject to the same rules. Put the videos in the intended order
Make a list of the files in playback order and note their locations. The simplest FFmpeg concat-demuxer workflow expects the files to have matching stream layouts, codecs, and time bases. If the videos differ, use the concat filter and re-encode to a consistent output rather than assuming they can be joined with stream copy.

Create a YouTube Live stream and retrieve its credentials

Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or select the stream you intend to use.

Copy the ingest URL and stream key from the stream’s encoder setup. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain this workflow.

Treat the stream key like a password. Store it privately, do not publish it in screenshots or a public repository, and do not paste it into a command that you plan to share.

Use RTMPS where available. YouTube recommends it as the encrypted extension of RTMP. Its encoder settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); frame rates up to 60 fps; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds.

Prepare a playlist FFmpeg can concatenate
For the concat demuxer, create a plain-text file named playlist.txt with one entry per video, in playback order. For example:

file '/path/to/video-03.mp4'Replace each path with the actual location of a file. Keep the list and the media paths private if they reveal anything you do not want to publish. FFmpeg documents the concat demuxer and its constraints in the concat demuxer documentation.
When stream copy is appropriate
If the files have the same streams, codecs, and time base, the concat demuxer can join them without decoding and re-encoding. The demuxer adjusts timestamps between files, but inaccurate duration information can cause artifacts. Review transitions and audio at each boundary during the preflight test.
When files differ
If files have incompatible stream layouts or parameters, use the concat filter and re-encode to a common output format. This gives you more control over output consistency, but requires more processing capacity and explicit video, audio, bitrate, frame-rate, and keyframe settings. Do not assume that arbitrary mixed files will concatenate cleanly with stream copy. FFmpeg describes the alternatives in its concat filter documentation.

FFmpeg’s -stream_loop input option repeats an input; a value of -1 requests infinite looping. For compatible files, the following is a starting pattern, not a universal, tested command for every media collection or FFmpeg build:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 5M -maxrate 5M -bufsize 10M
-pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://INGEST_URL/STREAM_KEY"Replace the example ingest address with the exact RTMPS URL and key supplied in Live Control Room; do not publish your real key. Confirm that your installed FFmpeg build supports the selected encoder and that your files can be decoded. In this pattern, -stream_loop -1 applies to the concat input, -re reads it at its native rate, and the H.264/AAC options produce a common RTMP-compatible output. The chosen output settings are illustrative and may need adjustment to match your source material, upload capacity, and YouTube’s current recommendations. FFmpeg documents input options including stream looping.

If the source files already match and you want to avoid re-encoding, a stream-copy variant may be possible:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt
-c copy -f flv "rtmps://INGEST_URL/STREAM_KEY"Use stream copy only when the files are compatible with one another and with the chosen YouTube ingest/output container. If FFmpeg reports codec, timestamp, or container errors, use a filter-and-re-encode workflow instead. The concat demuxer and looping option are documented features, but these examples have not been validated against your particular files, network, or FFmpeg build.

Bitrate, frame rate, and keyframes
Pick a video bitrate for the codec, resolution, and frame rate you intend to send, with enough reliable upload capacity for the total stream bitrate. Do not treat a single bitrate as suitable for every source or connection. For H.264, YouTube’s guidance accessed on 2026-10-03 lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for 1080p at 30 fps, and 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube configuration recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection will sustain the stream. The same guidance recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
Run an unlisted preflight

In YouTube Live Control Room, set up an unlisted test stream if that option is available for your channel and use its current URL and key.

Start FFmpeg and verify that YouTube receives the stream and reports healthy status. Check the stream-health messages in Live Control Room.

Listen to audio and watch moving content, including the point where one playlist file changes to the next. Confirm the order, transitions, levels, resolution, and frame rate.

Run a speed test and compare reliable upload capacity with the complete outgoing bitrate. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended program. Its encoder guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”

Only after the test succeeds should you schedule or begin the intended broadcast. For an unattended stream, plan to monitor FFmpeg, the network, and Live Control Room; the cited platform guidance does not certify a particular FFmpeg restart, failover, or uptime design.
Understand 24/7 operation and archives
A looping FFmpeg process can keep sending the playlist while it continues running and the connection remains available, but that alone does not guarantee uninterrupted broadcasting. YouTube’s guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish that a continuously running stream longer than 12 hours will have one complete archive. If you need a full recording, plan and verify a separate local recording or archive workflow.
Troubleshoot common failures

YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that the current RTMPS URL and stream key were copied correctly, that the stream is active in Live Control Room, and that the key has not been exposed or replaced.

FFmpeg reports concat or codec errors: Check that the playlist paths are valid and that the files have matching stream layouts, codecs, and time bases. If they do not, use the concat filter with re-encoding instead of stream copy.

Artifacts or glitches occur at file boundaries: Review duration information and timestamps in the source files. The concat demuxer adjusts timestamps between files, but inaccurate durations can create artifacts; test the transitions and re-encode to a consistent format if needed.

The stream buffers or drops frames: Check upload capacity against the total bitrate and inspect YouTube’s stream-health messages. Reduce output demands if the connection cannot sustain them, then repeat the test with representative content.

The live feed is interrupted after a rights match: Review the playlist’s rights and confirm any required Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder. A license alone may not prevent interruption if allowlisting has not been completed.

The stream ends and does not resume: Check the FFmpeg process, network, and Live Control Room status. The cited FFmpeg and YouTube documentation does not establish a universal automatic-restart or failover configuration.
