Before you begin, confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the necessary rights for every recording and visual. Then create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, add its server URL and stream key to your encoder, test the preview, and monitor the live feed.

Clear every part of the playlist
You are responsible for having the rights needed to use the live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube’s livestream terms say content providers must have the necessary rights for worldwide use on Google services, including rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Read the YouTube Terms of Service.
For Tamil devotional songs, check the specific sound recording, arrangement, performance and video—not just the underlying song or devotional tradition. A work’s traditional or religious character does not by itself establish that a particular recording or video is free to rebroadcast. Obtain permissions that cover your intended use and territory.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or lead to termination. If you have a license, the rights owner may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent a live interruption. Choose how to keep the playlist running
YouTube accepts streams sent by an encoder, which can be software or standalone hardware. Its encoder guidance also lists cloud tools for continuous 24/7 streams of prerecorded video. These are different ways to provide the feed; none guarantees an uninterrupted stream. Check the chosen tool’s current features, terms and availability for your location.

Set up the YouTube livestream
- Prepare your playlist and visuals. Arrange the devotional recordings in the order you want them to play, and confirm rights for each audio and visual component. Test the playlist from beginning to end, including transitions and any looping behavior supported by your encoder.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule a livestream and choose the encoder workflow. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Copy the ingest details. In the Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not post it publicly or include it in screenshots.
- Set the encoder output. Choose a resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate your encoder supports and your sustained upload connection can handle. Use YouTube’s current recommended encoder settings as a starting point.
- Send a test feed and check the preview. Start the encoder, wait for the Live Control Room preview, and confirm the audio, picture and intended stream destination are correct before making the event public.
- Start the livestream and monitor it. Check stream health, audio and video after launch, and have a practical plan for restarting or recovering if the encoder, power or network fails.
Encoder settings that matter
Resolution, frame rate and bitrate
Set the output to match the source material and the quality your connection can sustain. YouTube’s H.264 recommendations include 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are recommended encoder bitrates, not a guarantee of stable delivery; your actual connection must sustain the selected output. Other resolution, frame-rate and codec combinations have different recommendations, so consult YouTube’s settings table rather than applying one bitrate to every stream.
Codec, keyframes and protocol
YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, with AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, with intervals not exceeding four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP. Confirm the selected encoder supports the protocol and settings you intend to use.

Test the real setup
Test with the same computer or encoder, connection, playlist and output settings you intend to use for the long-running stream. Watch the Live Control Room preview for picture and sound issues. If you configure a backup encoder, test the failover rather than assuming it will take over correctly; YouTube’s livestreaming tips cover testing and stream monitoring.
Plan for continuity and replay limits
A 24/7 stream depends on the selected encoder and infrastructure, power, network and YouTube ingestion. The setup guidance does not establish a way to guarantee uninterrupted operation or a universal failover configuration. Decide how you will detect a dropped feed, who can act on alerts, and how you will restart the encoder or use a tested backup. A cloud service may remove dependence on a local computer, but verify its recovery behavior directly.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single stream intended to run continuously for 24 hours or longer will yield one complete replay. If a complete archive matters, plan to segment or restart the stream and confirm the resulting replay behavior in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s livestream archive guidance.
Troubleshooting common problems
- Livestreaming is unavailable: Check channel verification and whether a restriction has applied in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube receives no feed: Recheck the server URL and stream key in the encoder, confirm the encoder is sending, and inspect the Live Control Room for an incoming preview. If needed, generate or copy the current stream details again.
- The feed buffers or loses connection: Lower the bitrate or output resolution, or reduce frame rate, then test again. Ensure the sustained upload capacity—not just a brief speed-test result—can support the chosen output.
- Audio or video is missing or wrong: Verify the encoder’s selected audio input, playlist output, codec and destination. Check the preview before starting or relaunching the public stream.
- A copyright placeholder or interruption appears: Identify the matched material and confirm you have rights for the specific recording and visuals. Ask the rights owner about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist if you are licensed; do not assume a license alone prevents detection-related interruptions.
- The stream stops and does not recover: Check the encoder, power and internet connection, then restart the feed using the Live Control Room details. If you rely on backup equipment or a provider’s automatic recovery, test that path in advance.
