First confirm your channel can go live, prepare and test the broadcast and playlist, and secure rights for every recording and composition. Then plan how you will monitor and recover the stream if the computer, connection, OBS, or YouTube broadcast stops.

Confirm YouTube live-streaming access
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the live controls in YouTube Studio before preparing the stream; installing OBS does not enable live access. See YouTube’s live-streaming overview.

Clear the music and visuals for this use
Devotional subject matter does not make a recording copyright-free. Rights can differ between a particular recording, its performer or label, and the underlying composition. Obtain permission that covers livestreaming, the relevant territories, and the material you will actually use. Keep the documentation available.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or lead to termination. Even if you have licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask its owner to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist; otherwise a licensed stream can still be interrupted. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams. Do not assume that an old, locally popular, online, or supposedly royalty-free song is cleared without checking its rights.

Set up a YouTube broadcast and connect OBS
- Create or select the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Make sure you are working with the intended event and audience settings. You can use a scheduled broadcast when you want a distinct event to manage.
- Connect OBS using the current YouTube integration or YouTube Studio stream settings. OBS can connect through its YouTube integration or a stream key supplied by YouTube. If you use a key, treat it as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control your stream.
- Check how the broadcast starts and stops. The OBS guide describes controls for selecting broadcasts and automatic start/stop behavior. Those controls may differ in current versions, so check the labels and behavior in the OBS and YouTube Studio versions you are using. If a key-based workflow is offered, follow YouTube Studio’s current instructions for that broadcast.
- Start with a private or otherwise appropriate test. Confirm that YouTube receives the intended audio and picture before making the event public.

Build the playlist scene and test it
Choose a stable picture and the right audio
In OBS, create a scene with a stable visual, such as artwork you own or are licensed to use, and the audio source for your devotional recordings. Avoid leaving unrelated desktop content or notifications visible. Check YouTube’s preview to confirm the picture remains suitable and the audio is present, clear, and not clipping.

Test transitions and looping behavior
Run the playlist long enough to observe a complete track transition and a repeat, rather than assuming the source will loop correctly. Check for silence, gaps, unexpected overlays, or a visual that disappears when a track changes. The available official references do not specify a particular OBS playlist-source method or verify a 24-hour looping configuration; test the exact scene and sources you intend to use.
Plan around the computer and connection
OBS encodes and sends the stream from the computer running it, so that computer and its network connection must remain available for the stream to continue. YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a specific CPU, GPU, memory requirement, OBS bitrate, keyframe interval, or maximum continuous runtime for this Malayalam audio-playlist scenario. Do not treat a guessed encoder setting or PC specification as a YouTube requirement. Test your own setup and use the settings indicated by the current YouTube and OBS interfaces.

Rehearse interruptions and recovery
“24/7” is an operating goal, not a guarantee supplied by OBS or YouTube. Before relying on the stream, rehearse the failure cases you can control and decide who will monitor it and how they will restart it.
- Let the playlist run through transitions and a repeat.
- Test what viewers see if the network drops, OBS closes, or the computer restarts.
- Check whether the YouTube broadcast remains available for the encoder to reconnect or whether you must start or select the event again.
- Confirm the actual start and end behavior of the scheduled broadcast and encoder in your current software.
- Set up a practical monitoring and recovery plan for the times you cannot watch the stream yourself.
YouTube’s live-streaming page lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key (YouTube Help page accessed in 2026). These are platform limits, not targets for a single playlist. See YouTube’s live-streaming overview.

Understand monetization separately from copyright
Permission to use music and eligibility for YouTube monetization are separate questions. YouTube’s reused-content review is not settled by having a copyright license or by an argument that content is fair use. A channel built mainly around repetitive devotional music loops may or may not qualify; the outcome is channel-specific, and a license does not guarantee monetization. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies before building a business plan around this format.
