You can keep a finished ASMR whisper compilation feeding YouTube Live from a VPS by looping the source file with an encoder such as FFmpeg and sending it to the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room. That keeps the encoder producing media; it does not guarantee YouTube will stay live without interruption or preserve one complete 24-hour archive. If a complete YouTube archive matters, plan sessions under 12 hours and test any restart or handoff before relying on it.
Choose what “24/7” means for your channel
A VPS can run an encoder continuously, but there are two different goals: a rolling broadcast that keeps returning to air, or one uninterrupted YouTube session. YouTube Help says, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all,” and recommends recording a local archive as a backup. A single 24-hour session therefore cannot be relied on to produce a complete YouTube archive.
If the archive is important, consider recurring sessions shorter than 12 hours rather than one session that exceeds that limit. The cited YouTube guidance does not document a seamless handoff procedure. Treat session length, restart timing and what viewers see during a restart as design decisions to verify in a test stream; do not assume a restart will be invisible or that the archive will be complete.
Prepare the compilation and confirm its rights
Check the finished file
Use a completed compilation with the intended whisper audio and visuals already in the file. A VPS encoder workflow does not need a microphone when the content is prerecorded. Confirm that the file plays correctly from start to finish and that looping it will not create an unwanted silence, abrupt cut or confusing visual break. The VPS size and network allowance depend on the file’s resolution and whether you need to transcode it; no universal CPU, RAM or bandwidth requirement is established for this workflow.

Clear every included element
Make sure you have the necessary rights for voice recordings, music, sound effects, artwork and any other protected material. YouTube’s livestream terms require the rights needed to use the live content worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights. A whisper compilation is not automatically rights-free simply because it contains no conventional song.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If detected material remains in the stream, YouTube may temporarily replace the feed or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. For licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; having a license alone may not prevent an interruption.

Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go live.
- Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow in Live Control Room.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. YouTube describes the key as the credential that tells its service where to receive the encoder feed.
- Keep the key private, like a password. Do not publish it, include it in a public command or save it in a publicly readable script. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s stream settings before continuing.
Use the RTMPS ingestion URL shown in Live Control Room when your encoder supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP protected with TLS and recommends encrypted delivery. Do not assume a generic RTMP address is interchangeable with the URL YouTube supplies.
Loop the file and send it with FFmpeg
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop as an input option for looping a file and uses -re in its example for reading a file in real time before sending RTMP output. Its documented example is:

ffmpeg -re -i myfile -f flv rtmp://myserver/live/mystream
This illustrates the real-time input and RTMP output concepts; it is not a ready-to-run YouTube command. The FFmpeg options, stream mapping, codecs, output format and destination must match your file and the settings exposed by YouTube. In particular, choose an input loop count appropriate to your intended run and replace the example destination with the YouTube URL, without exposing the actual key.
Before using a production command, inspect the source file’s audio and video streams and decide whether they can be sent as-is or need transcoding. A command that is valid for one compilation may fail or produce the wrong output for a file with different tracks or codecs. If your setup requires transcoding, account for that when choosing VPS compute capacity; neither a universal server size nor a production-ready command for an unspecified file can be prescribed here.

Audio settings for an ASMR-led stream
YouTube’s published encoder recommendations specify stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. Treat these as YouTube’s recommendations, not as a measurement of this compilation or a guarantee of sound quality. Check that the file’s audio is actually stereo if you expect stereo output, and listen to a test stream at the receiving end for level, noise, clipping and gaps.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test before leaving the VPS unattended
- Run a test stream using representative audio and visuals, including a section near the loop boundary.
- Check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Confirm that both picture and sound arrive as expected.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health indicators and monitor audio and video quality during the test.
- If you plan to keep a local archive, verify that the recording grows, has enough storage available, and plays back with intact audio and video. YouTube recommends a local archive as a backup, but a recorder configuration is not guaranteed to work on every VPS.
- Test the behavior you expect during a VPS restart, encoder failure or planned session restart. Verify storage capacity, file integrity, recovery behavior and what happens to output continuity on your chosen setup.
YouTube advises testing before an event with audio and movement similar to the actual stream. It also recommends monitoring stream health and checking that a local archive is being recorded. For supported multi-encoder setups, YouTube advises testing encoder failover; do not assume failover applies to a single-encoder VPS configuration.

Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube receives no signal: Check that the encoder is running, the stream URL and key came from the intended Live Control Room stream, and the selected ingestion URL is supported by your encoder. Keep the key private while correcting it.
- The video or audio is missing or wrong: Recheck the source file’s tracks and the encoder’s stream mapping, output format and codec settings. Test with a short representative section before restarting a long broadcast.
- Playback stops at the end of the file: Confirm that the input loop option is applied to the file input and that the loop count matches your plan. Inspect the output around the loop boundary for silence or a visible jump.
- The stream is interrupted after a rights match: Review the material YouTube identified and confirm you have the required rights. If the material is licensed, contact the rights holder about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- The YouTube archive is incomplete or absent: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep and test a local recording if you need a backup; a file loop does not change YouTube’s archive behavior.
- The VPS cannot keep up: Check whether the encoder is transcoding and whether the VPS has sufficient compute and network capacity for the actual resolution and output. Requirements vary with the file and deployment, so test the selected server rather than relying on a generic size recommendation.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not maintain a VPS encoder, StreamNeo keeps a prerecorded YouTube stream running from its cloud service: upload the compilation, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded file at its original quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
