To stream Assamese lofi music continuously from a cloud VPS, run an encoder on the VPS and send its audio/video output to YouTube Live over RTMPS using your channel’s ingest URL and stream key. Before you start, clear the rights for every recording—including any replay—and confirm whether the rights holder must add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A VPS can keep an encoder away from home power and internet problems; it does not grant music rights or guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
How the setup works
Your audio and any accompanying visual loop play on an encoder running on a continuously available cloud VPS. The encoder sends the stream to YouTube’s ingest endpoint; YouTube associates that feed with your live broadcast using the stream key. YouTube documents the stream URL and key workflow in its streaming tips, and its API represents an incoming feed as a liveStream resource.

Plan to monitor the feed and decide how you will recover if one of those parts fails.
Clear the music rights before building the stream
Do not assume that a track is safe to broadcast because it is Assamese lofi, available online, or described as copyright-free. Check each recording and its underlying composition. YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to have the necessary rights for the live content, including music licensing rights.

Check the live, replay, and territory permissions
Ask the relevant rights owners or administrators whether your permission covers a continuous YouTube livestream in the territories where viewers may watch it, and whether it also covers YouTube’s replay or archive. Keep written permission and a track-by-track record of titles, writers, performers, sound-recording owners, territories, permitted uses, and license term.
Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. A licensed track can still trigger a match: YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm this with the licensor before launch. An unresolved match can interrupt or terminate the live feed, as explained in YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Prepare the YouTube broadcast and VPS
- Choose the material and visual. Assemble only recordings cleared for the intended live and replay uses. Decide whether the broadcast will use a still image, an animated visual, or another video you have rights to use. The VPS encoder must be able to play the chosen media and produce a stream YouTube accepts.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Live Control Room or through the YouTube Live API. Retrieve the ingest server URL and stream key YouTube provides for the broadcast. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, place it in public logs, or share it unnecessarily. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Select a VPS and encoder for the actual workload. The encoder runs on the VPS, reads your media, and sends the output to YouTube. There is no universally validated VPS size, Linux distribution, encoder command, or provider for this workload; those depend on the media, output format, and provider. Check current provider specifications and test the chosen instance rather than assuming that a generic CPU or memory figure guarantees stable playback.
- Configure the encoder with YouTube’s ingest details. Enter the server URL and stream key in the encoder, then configure its output to match YouTube’s current requirements for your chosen video and audio format. The cited guidance does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, audio bitrate, or keyframe setting for every encoder and stream. Use YouTube’s current streaming setup guidance and the encoder’s documentation for the exact settings; do not copy an unverified preset.
- Use RTMPS and verify the endpoint. For this workflow, prefer RTMPS, YouTube’s encrypted RTMP ingest option. Confirm the protocol, full server address and stream path, and any encoder-specific URL formatting. Google’s RTMPS documentation describes the TLS connection; API clients connect over TLS on port 443 and must handle the appropriate SNI hostname. The protocol comparison lists RTMPS for normal, low, and ultra-low latency. HLS and DASH serve different codec or resolution needs and generally involve higher latency, so they are not interchangeable just because they are ingest options.
- Test privately before making the broadcast public. Start the encoder, check the YouTube preview, confirm the expected audio and visual, and inspect stream health in YouTube Live Control Room or the API. Leave upload-bandwidth headroom instead of running the VPS connection at its limit. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality; a successful initial connection does not prove the VPS or network route will remain healthy indefinitely.
- Keep the VPS process and recovery plan under observation. Configure the VPS environment to restart the encoder after a process or host restart if your operating system and provider support it, and check that the media resumes from a sensible point. Decide who will receive alerts and how the stream key, encoder logs, and YouTube health information will be checked. Automatic process restart cannot fix a revoked stream key, a persistent network fault, or a YouTube-side interruption.
Choose between one continuous broadcast and shorter sessions
A single broadcast is operationally simple, but it is not a safe way to promise a complete YouTube archive. YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. “Can” is not a guarantee. If an archive matters, consider ending and starting planned sessions before they reach 12 hours, and keep a separate local recording as a backup. YouTube recommends checking that the local archive is recording properly.
Shorter sessions require someone or something to begin the next broadcast and reconnect the encoder to the correct live event. Test that transition, including the preview and audio, before relying on it. If uninterrupted listening matters more than having a YouTube replay, a continuous broadcast may suit that goal, but it still depends on the VPS, network path, and platform.

What to expect from monetization
Music rights and monetization eligibility are separate questions. Having permission to stream a track does not guarantee that YouTube will approve a channel for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to livestreams and say repetitive or mass-produced content may be treated as inauthentic and ineligible. A minimally changed loop should not be presented as a route to guaranteed monetization; YouTube reviews the channel under its policies.
