How do I stop Wachete from alerting on irrelevant page changes?
Wachete’s FAQ describes excluding a section that generates irrelevant notifications. You can do this visually in the preview or enter an XPath for the region to ignore in the monitor’s advanced settings. Wachete also supports monitoring a selected part of a page rather than the whole page, which can avoid unrelated changes elsewhere.

Exclude a region in the preview
- Open the monitor’s preview and confirm that the page is showing the content you intend to monitor.
- Switch the preview to exclude mode.
- Mark the changing region, such as an advertisement or date, that should not trigger a change alert.
- Save the monitor and check a subsequent result to confirm the important content is still being watched.
Use an Exclude XPath
Alternatively, edit the monitor and enter an XPath in its advanced settings under Exclude XPath. Wachete’s FAQ gives //div[contains(@class, 'date')] as an example for a date-class element. Treat it as an example, not a universal selector: inspect the target page’s markup and adapt the expression to the element you need to ignore.

If the change you care about is confined to one part of the page, select that specific text, number, or section in the preview instead of monitoring the entire page. Wachete says monitors can cover either a whole page or a selected part, and its features page describes ignoring frequently changing parts such as ads or dates. See Wachete’s FAQ and features page.

Check whether the page content needs Dynamic mode
Some page content is generated by JavaScript after the initial page load. Wachete says most pages can be monitored statically, but JavaScript-generated content may require Dynamic mode.
- Look at the desired text or section in the default preview.
- If it is not visible, switch the preview options to Dynamic.
- Confirm that the content appears in the dynamic preview. If it does, set the monitor to Dynamic mode and verify the selected region or exclusion against that rendered view.
If the preview still does not load the content correctly, Wachete suggests trying Dynamic mode, changing the monitoring location, or both. A Forbidden response may mean the website blocks automated bots; that is an access problem, not evidence that your selector is wrong.

Understand the timestamps and separate error notices from change alerts
The time shown in the monitor list may refer to the last change, not the last check. Open the monitor details to see the last check and last change separately before treating the displayed time as evidence of a missed check or duplicate alert.
Error notices are also different from page-content change alerts. Wachete’s FAQ describes controls to disable all error notifications for a monitor or ignore a specific error from its notification details. Those controls affect error notices; use a content exclusion or a narrower monitored region to address alerts caused by changing page content.

What to check if alerts continue
- The ad or timestamp still triggers alerts: Confirm that the correct element is marked in exclude mode or that the XPath matches the actual page element.
- The preview lacks the content you want: Switch to Dynamic mode and verify the content is visible before settling on a region or exclusion.
- The preview does not load properly: Try Dynamic mode or another monitoring location. If the response is Forbidden, consider that the site may block automated bots.
- The listed time looks wrong: Open monitor details and distinguish last check from last change.
- You receive an error notice: Use the error-notification controls; they are separate from exclusions for content changes.
