Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To reduce interruptions on a Samsung Galaxy, use Do not disturb for quiet periods, app notification settings for specific apps or categories, and pop-up or lock-screen controls when the alert is mainly a visibility problem. Set exceptions before relying on a quiet mode, then test that important calls, messages, alarms, or app alerts still come through.
How do I stop Samsung notifications from interrupting me?
Start with the broadest control that fits the problem. Do not disturb can silence sounds and notifications while allowing exceptions; app settings are better when only one app or kind of alert is disruptive. The exact names and paths can differ by Galaxy model and software version, so use the closest matching labels on your phone.

Quiet all or most alerts with Do not disturb
- Open Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb.
- Check whether Do not disturb is on. Configure the available controls for calls and messages, app notifications, alarms, and sounds to match what you need to receive.
- For a recurring quiet period, open the schedule controls, add a schedule, and enable it. Samsung documents schedules for recurring periods; the available labels can vary by model and software version. [Samsung US: Do not disturb]
- Review the exceptions and test an important one—for example, ask a selected contact to call or send a message—before depending on the schedule.
Samsung’s support guidance describes exceptions for selected contacts, repeat callers, apps, alarms, and sounds. Allow only the alerts you actually need; an exception can make a quiet period less quiet.

Silence one app or one kind of alert
- Open Settings > Notifications > App notifications and select the app. On some versions, the app-notification list may be reached through a differently named Notifications menu.
- Adjust that app’s notification controls. If the app offers notification categories, open them and change only the category that is interrupting you—for example, a particular feature or alert type—rather than disabling every notification from the app. [Samsung: Manage notification categories]
Categories are useful only when the app exposes them and the relevant category is available on your device. If you do not see category controls, use the app’s main notification settings or check the app’s own settings.

How do I stop pop-ups or hide notification details?
If alerts can remain available but should not take over the screen or reveal private details, change how they appear instead of silencing the whole app.
Reduce an app’s pop-up interruptions
Samsung’s One UI 8 guidance documents per-app pop-up style. Open Settings > Notifications > App notifications, choose the app, then look for its pop-up style controls. Select a less prominent presentation or turn off pop-ups for that app if the option is available. Older or different software builds may use different labels. Protect lock-screen privacy
In the same One UI 8 guidance, Samsung documents controls for lock-screen notification content both globally and per app. Use the global setting if you want to conceal details broadly, or the app-specific setting when only certain notifications should be private. The notification can remain visible while its content is hidden; available controls vary by software version. [Samsung: One UI 8 notification settings]
Can my Galaxy silence notifications automatically at work?
Samsung’s Modes and Routines can automate tasks, and Samsung gives silencing notifications on arrival at work as an example. Open Settings > Modes and Routines, inspect the available mode or routine triggers and actions, and configure a work-related rule if your phone offers the trigger and notification action you need. Confirm the rule behaves as intended before relying on it; options can vary by device and software version. [Samsung Gulf: Modes and Routines]

Why am I not getting notifications on my Galaxy?
When an expected notification is missing or silent, troubleshoot the alert path before changing unrelated settings. Check whether Do not disturb is active, whether the app and its relevant category are enabled, and whether the phone is configured to play a sound.

- Check Do not disturb. If it is active, review its app and contact exceptions. An app that is not allowed may be muted during the quiet period. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance also identifies Do not disturb as a check for missing alerts. [Samsung US: Do not disturb]
- Check the app and category. In Settings > Notifications > App notifications, confirm notifications are enabled for the affected app and, where available, for the category that should alert you. App-wide and category controls are separate on supported versions. [Samsung: Manage notification categories]
- If this is a Secure Folder notification issue, check its documented causes. Samsung’s Secure Folder guidance recommends checking Power saving and Do not disturb, and notes that selected apps can be allowed through Do not disturb. This advice is specific to that scenario, not a universal explanation for missing notifications. [Samsung: Secure Folder notifications]
- If notifications appear but are silent, check sound settings. Review the phone’s sound mode and notification sound settings. Samsung Canada also lists whether an app is marked Deep sleeping as a check when notifications are not showing; treat this as a relevant troubleshooting possibility, not the assumed cause on every Galaxy. [Samsung Canada: Notification troubleshooting]
Which notification control should I use?
| Control | Best fit | Scope and timing | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Do not disturb | A meeting, sleep period, or other time when most alerts should be quiet | Broad; can be turned on manually or scheduled to recur | Calls, messages, apps, alarms, and sounds allowed as exceptions |
| App notification settings or categories | One disruptive app or a specific alert type within it | One app or category; applies according to that app’s notification settings | The app and intended category remain enabled if needed |
| Pop-up and lock-screen settings | Alerts that are too visually intrusive or reveal details | Changes presentation; One UI 8 documents per-app controls | Whether the alert should still appear and whether its content should be visible |
| Modes and Routines | Automating a context such as arrival at work | Can automate tasks based on available triggers | The trigger, action, and any exceptions exist and work on your device |
What if the Settings path does not match?
Follow the labels shown on your phone and search Settings for terms such as Do not disturb, App notifications, or Modes and Routines. Samsung notes that settings and menu sequences can vary by model, software version, and, in some guidance, region. The cited One UI 8 instructions were updated April 19, 2026; Samsung’s cited Hong Kong Do not disturb guide is region-specific and updated February 4, 2026.
