To stop duplicate Super Chat alerts, find every place the same alert is being displayed and remove the extra path. First close extra alert pop-out windows, then check every scene used by the broadcast for repeated alert widgets or browser sources. If you use a Streamlabs Browser Source in OBS, enable “Shutdown when not active” in its properties; if that does not fix the echo, remove and recreate the source. Test the result, and compare the YouTube event record with the on-stream display before deciding that one Super Chat appeared twice.
Trace the alert from event to screen
An alert can be rendered by more than one active window or source, even when there was only one Super Chat event. OBS Studio does not provide alerts directly: third-party alert overlays are embedded in OBS through a Browser Source. The alert provider and the sources in your streaming software are therefore both part of the display path. OBS Project explains its alert setup.

Work through the checks below in order. After each change, test the scene so you can identify which change resolved the duplicate.
1. Close extra alert windows
On the computer running the stream, close any additional alert pop-out or provider preview windows. Streamlabs lists extra pop-out windows as a cause to check when alerts echo. Leave only the window or source you actually intend to use.

Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
2. Check every scene used by the broadcast
Inspect the current scene and every other scene the continuous broadcast may switch to. Look for multiple Alert Box widgets or Browser Sources that point to the same alert service. A duplicate in a scene that is not currently visible may still matter if the broadcast later switches to it.
In OBS, select a relevant Browser Source and open its properties to verify what it displays. Do not assume two entries are different just because they have different names; compare their provider and widget configuration.

3. Pick one alert integration path
If you use Streamlabs, establish whether the alert is added through Streamlabs Desktop, the Streamlabs OBS plugin, or a Browser Source widget URL in other streaming software. These are separate integration routes. Streamlabs documents YouTube alerts for Super Chats and recommends testing the Alert Box after setup.

Streamlabs’ event filters apply to Browser Source widget URLs; they do not change Alert Box sources added through Streamlabs Desktop or its OBS plugin. Confirm the source type before relying on a filter to suppress an alert. See Streamlabs’ alert setup guidance and its event-filter documentation.

- Equipped with a single mic input (XLR or ¼"), two LINE inputs for guitar and keyboard, and USB-C input for connecting to a computer
4. Confirm the YouTube account and event selection
Check that the alert provider is configured for the intended YouTube account and the Super Chat event. If you have linked accounts, review whether the same widget URL is receiving events from more than one account. Streamlabs says linked accounts can share a widget URL, which can make account selection relevant when tracing an alert.
5. Set the OBS Browser Source behavior
For each applicable Streamlabs Browser Source, open the source’s properties and turn on Shutdown when not active. Check every relevant browser source across all scenes, not just the one currently displayed. Streamlabs recommends this setting as an echo troubleshooting step.

6. Recreate a source that still echoes
If the echo continues after checking extra windows, duplicate sources, and the setting above, remove the affected Browser Source and add it again using the intended widget URL. Streamlabs recommends removing and remaking the source when its earlier checks do not resolve echoing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors7. Test the changed setup
Use the alert provider’s test function after making changes, then watch the actual scene output. Streamlabs recommends testing the widget. A provider test confirms the configured path can display a test alert; it does not establish how the stream will behave after every future reconnect.

Tell a duplicate display from a repeated event
Two alert animations do not by themselves prove that a single Super Chat was replayed. There are at least three possibilities: one event rendered by two sources, an alert provider repeating an event, or two genuine Super Chat events. The documented echo checks address duplicate rendering, but they do not establish a universal YouTube replay mechanism or identify the cause on a particular channel.
Compare what appeared in the stream with the YouTube event or chat record. If YouTube shows two separate Super Chat events, investigate the events as separate transactions rather than treating the visual repetition as proof of an overlay fault. If the record shows one event but the stream showed two animations, return to the source inventory and provider configuration.
Common causes and fixes
| What you observe | What to check | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The same animation appears twice in the scene | Multiple Alert Box widgets or Browser Sources in the active scene | Keep the intended alert path and remove the duplicate source. |
| An alert echoes even though the scene appears to have one source | Extra provider pop-out or preview windows on the streaming computer | Close additional alert windows and test again. |
| An OBS Browser Source continues to echo | Its inactive-source behavior and whether the source configuration is stale | Enable “Shutdown when not active”; if needed, remove and recreate the source. |
| Alerts seem to come from an unexpected channel | Selected YouTube account and linked accounts sharing a widget URL | Confirm the intended account and review the provider’s linked-account setup. |
| A filter setting has no effect | Whether the alert uses a Browser Source URL or a native Desktop/plugin Alert Box | Use a filter only for a Browser Source widget URL; Streamlabs says filters do not alter Desktop or plugin Alert Box sources. |
| The stream shows two alerts and the event record also shows two events | Whether there were two genuine Super Chats | Do not diagnose this as a duplicate overlay without checking the event record. |
What this means for a 24/7 broadcast
The steps above address alert windows, scene sources, provider configuration, and testing. They are not a guarantee against every cause of alert repetition, and the published guidance does not establish a dedicated test protocol or guarantee for alerts after a 24/7 stream reconnects. After a stream or alert-source change, use the provider test function and inspect the output rather than assuming a prior test covers every later reconnect.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud; it is not an alert-management tool, and it does not go live from a camera. For this alert problem, you still need to configure and verify your alert sources in the streaming software. If you also want the pre-recorded stream to continue without leaving a computer on at home, the steps are: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded video, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
Quick Recap
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs in the cloud.

- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card, one free day per account.
- Monthly: $9.99 per month.
