How to Stop Calls from Ringing on Your Other Apple Devices

Stop incoming iPhone calls from ringing on your iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or another Apple device with the correct Phone, Wi-Fi Calling, and FaceTime settings.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If an incoming iPhone call also rings on your iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or another configured Apple device, change the call-relay controls on the iPhone. Open Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices. Turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices to stop relay everywhere, or leave it on and switch off only the devices you want to silence.

If one device still appears because of Wi-Fi Calling, remove it separately under Settings > Cellular > [your line] > Calls on Other Devices. The line-selection step applies when the iPhone has more than one SIM.

The two controls that stop ringing

Apple provides a general relay switch and individual device switches. The general switch controls whether the iPhone offers its phone calls to other Apple devices at all. The individual switches let you keep selected devices available while excluding others.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Choice What changes When to use it
Allow Calls on Other Devices: Off Stops the iPhone from relaying calls to every device listed there. You want only the iPhone to ring.
Master switch on; selected device off Leaves call relay available for the devices that remain enabled. You still want calls on, for example, your Mac but not your iPad.
Wi-Fi Calling device removal Removes a device from the separate Wi-Fi Calling device list. A device continues to ring after the regular relay switch was changed.
iPhone Mobile Calls off in FaceTime Turns off phone-call relay on that receiving device. You can reach the device but prefer to change its own settings.

The first two choices are managed from the iPhone’s Phone settings. Wi-Fi Calling has an additional list, and a receiving device has its own FaceTime control. Use the iPhone controls first when you want one place to manage the whole setup.

These controls are about phone-call relay, not about deleting a device, muting every notification, or changing the ringtone of your iPhone. A device can remain signed in and continue to use other Apple services while you stop it from presenting your iPhone’s incoming calls.

Turn off calls on every other Apple device

  1. On the iPhone that receives your cellular calls, open Settings.
  2. Tap Apps, then tap Phone.
  3. Choose Calls on Other Devices.
  4. Switch off Allow Calls on Other Devices.

That master switch disables the general phone-call relay to all configured devices. Apple documents this location in its iOS 26 iPhone guide: Use iPhone to allow calls and text messages on your iPad and Mac.

After switching it off, place a test call to the iPhone from another phone. The iPhone should receive the call normally, while the listed iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, or other supported devices should no longer offer the relayed call through this control. If you later decide that even one device should ring again, you can restore the master switch and choose devices individually.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You do not need to remove the devices from your Apple Account, sign out of FaceTime, disconnect Wi-Fi, or delete an app. This is a settings change on the iPhone. Those broader changes can affect unrelated features and are unnecessary when the goal is simply to stop simultaneous ringing.

Stop only one device from ringing

Selective control is useful when you want calls on a Mac for work but not on an iPad in another room, or on an iPhone and Apple Watch but not on a shared Mac. It also avoids disrupting people who use one of the other enabled devices.

  1. Return to Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices.
  2. Leave Allow Calls on Other Devices turned on.
  3. In the device list, turn off the switch beside the iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or other device you want to silence.
  4. Leave the switches for devices that should continue receiving relayed calls turned on.

The device-level switches affect only the entries you change. For example, turning off “Office Mac” does not turn off “Home Mac” unless you change that entry too. Read the device names carefully when you own more than one Mac, iPad, or watch.

If you later add or configure another compatible device, check this list again rather than assuming the previous choice applies to it. A newly configured device can appear as a separate entry, so the safest approach is to review the list whenever you set up a new Apple device or change an Apple Account sign-in.

There is no need to turn off the master switch just to silence one device. Doing so would also remove relay from every other enabled device, which is broader than necessary.

Remove a device from Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi Calling can expose a separate device list. If a device keeps presenting incoming calls after you change Calls on Other Devices, check this second location.

  1. Open Settings on the iPhone.
  2. Tap Cellular.
  3. If the iPhone has multiple SIMs or cellular lines, tap the line whose calls you are managing.
  4. Tap Calls on Other Devices.
  5. Turn off the device that should no longer use Wi-Fi Calling for your iPhone number.

Apple describes this as removing a device from Wi-Fi Calling. The exact list you see depends on the iOS version and your cellular configuration. Follow Apple’s carrier-specific guidance at Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling.

Keep the two paths conceptually separate: the Phone settings path controls ordinary call relay, while the Cellular path controls the devices included for Wi-Fi Calling. A device can therefore require attention in both lists if you are trying to remove every route by which it can present your iPhone calls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Apple also states that Wi-Fi Calling is automatically enabled for Apple Watch when Allow Calls on Other Devices is enabled. Therefore, an Apple Watch that you are trying to silence deserves particular attention in both the regular device list and the Wi-Fi Calling list. Do not assume that changing a watch’s general notification sound has removed its ability to receive the call.

Wi-Fi Calling availability is controlled by your carrier, and FaceTime is not available in every country or region. If the Wi-Fi Calling menu or a particular device does not appear, your carrier, region, line, or current configuration may not support that option. Use the controls that are actually shown on your iPhone rather than looking for a menu that your service does not provide.

Turn off relay from the receiving device

Apple’s security guidance gives a device-side alternative: turn off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime settings on the device that is ringing. This is useful when you are already using the iPad or Mac and do not want to pick up the iPhone or navigate its settings.

  1. On the receiving iPad, Mac, or other supported device, open its FaceTime settings.
  2. Find the setting named iPhone Mobile Calls.
  3. Turn that setting off.

Apple states, “Users can turn off phone call relay on a device by turning off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime settings.” See the full explanation in iPhone mobile call relay security. The iPhone’s master and per-device switches remain the clearest way to manage several devices together, but the local switch is practical when the receiving device is in front of you.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This setting is specifically for phone calls relayed from the iPhone. It does not mean that all FaceTime audio or video calls are disabled. If you want to manage ordinary FaceTime availability, use the other FaceTime settings separately; for this problem, look for the exact iPhone Mobile Calls label.

Why Apple devices can ring together

Call relay is not a random notification duplicated by every device. Apple’s setup conditions connect the devices to the iPhone’s phone-call service. Apple says the devices should use the same Apple Account, be on the same Wi-Fi network, and be near the iPhone. FaceTime must also be signed in with that same Apple Account, with your phone number enabled in FaceTime settings.

These conditions explain why a nearby iPad or Mac can offer the iPhone’s incoming call. They are not steps you need to undo when your goal is simply to stop the ringing. Changing the relay switch is less disruptive than signing out of services or changing network settings.

Apple’s setup details are available in Make and receive phone calls on Mac, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. The exact devices shown in your menus can vary with operating-system version, Apple Account sign-in, FaceTime configuration, Wi-Fi connection, and carrier support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The same conditions are useful for diagnosing an unexpected change. If a device used to ring and no longer does, it may no longer share the Apple Account or Wi-Fi network, or its FaceTime phone-number setting may have changed. If your aim is to stop ringing, however, do not deliberately break those conditions as a first step; use the dedicated relay controls.

Troubleshoot a device that still rings

Check the iPhone’s master switch first

Open Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices again and confirm the state you intended. If the master switch is off, no listed device should remain enabled through the general relay control. If you intended to silence only one device, confirm the master switch is on and that the correct device entry is off; device names can be similar if you own more than one Mac or iPad.

Give the settings a moment to propagate, then test with another incoming call. A test makes it easier to distinguish a saved setting from a call that was already in progress before you changed it.

Check Wi-Fi Calling separately

If the ringing device is absent from the regular list, or the change there had no effect, go to Settings > Cellular > [line] > Calls on Other Devices. On a dual-SIM iPhone, selecting the wrong line can make it appear that the setting did not work. Choose the line associated with the incoming number, then disable the device in that list.

Each cellular line can present its own configuration. If you manage two numbers, repeat the check for the other line only if that second number is also producing the unwanted ringing.

Look at the device’s FaceTime setting

On the device that rings, open FaceTime settings and check iPhone Mobile Calls. Turn it off if you want a local block on that device. This setting is separate from ordinary FaceTime calling; the documented label specifically controls phone-call relay from the iPhone.

If you later want that device to ring again, return to the same FaceTime setting and enable it, then confirm the iPhone’s master and device-level switches have not been disabled.

Identify which iPhone line is ringing

With multiple SIMs, each line can have its own Wi-Fi Calling configuration. Make sure you changed the line that receives the calls you are hearing. A setting changed for one line does not necessarily remove another line’s device entry.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verify account and network conditions

Apple’s relay setup expects the iPhone and receiving device to use the same Apple Account and Wi-Fi network, with FaceTime signed in to that account and the phone number enabled. If a device has recently changed accounts, Wi-Fi networks, or FaceTime sign-in, its list and behavior may not match your other devices. Correct the account or network only if you are trying to keep relay working; to silence the device, use the switches described above.

Consider Apple Watch behavior

Apple ties Apple Watch Wi-Fi Calling to Allow Calls on Other Devices. If the watch is the only device still ringing, inspect the master switch and the Wi-Fi Calling device list rather than changing unrelated Watch notification settings. If you want other devices to keep ringing, use the watch’s individual entry instead of turning off the master switch.

Account for carrier and regional limits

Wi-Fi Calling depends on carrier support, and Apple notes that FaceTime is unavailable in some countries and regions. A missing menu, unavailable option, or different list can therefore reflect service availability rather than a fault with the iPhone. Use the cellular-line path that is present on your phone and rely on the regular Phone setting when Wi-Fi Calling controls are not offered.

Common scenarios and the narrowest fix

Situation First setting to change Why
Every iPad, Mac, and watch should stop ringing Turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices. One master switch covers the general relay.
Only a work Mac should keep ringing Leave the master switch on; turn off every unwanted device entry. Selected devices remain available.
One iPad is not in the Phone list but still rings Check the applicable line under Cellular > Calls on Other Devices. Wi-Fi Calling has a separate device list.
You are already using the iPad or Mac Turn off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime settings there. The receiving device can block its own relay.
An Apple Watch rings unexpectedly Check the master or watch entry, then the Wi-Fi Calling list. Apple links watch Wi-Fi Calling to the master setting.

What each setting does not require

  • You do not need a replacement iPhone, accessory, repair, or additional app.
  • You do not need to remove the other devices from your Apple Account merely to stop call relay.
  • You do not need to disable Wi-Fi for the whole household; the controls target phone-call relay or a specific Wi-Fi Calling device entry.
  • You do not need to change ordinary ringtones on every device when the problem is that the iPhone is relaying the call.
  • You do not need to buy hardware, install a utility, or use a cable to make this settings change.

Use the narrowest control that matches your goal: the master switch for an iPhone-only setup, a device switch for selective silence, Wi-Fi Calling removal when that service is responsible, or the receiving device’s FaceTime setting when you are working directly on that device.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Restore call relay later

To make a device ring again, open Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices if it is off, and enable the desired device in the list. If Wi-Fi Calling was separately disabled, return to Settings > Cellular > [line] > Calls on Other Devices and enable that device there as well. On the receiving device, turn iPhone Mobile Calls back on in FaceTime settings if you used the local control.

When restoring only one device, verify that the other device switches remain off. When restoring all devices, check both the Phone list and, where available, the Wi-Fi Calling list so that the result matches your intended setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I stop calls from ringing on all my other Apple devices?

On the iPhone, open Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices and turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices. This disables the general relay to the configured devices.

Can I stop just my iPad while keeping calls on my Mac?

Yes. Leave Allow Calls on Other Devices on, then turn off only the iPad in the device list. Leave the Mac switch enabled.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why is one device still ringing after I changed Phone settings?

Check Settings > Cellular > [your line] > Calls on Other Devices. Wi-Fi Calling has a separate device list, and a multiple-SIM iPhone requires you to choose the line associated with the call.

How do I stop an Apple Watch from receiving my iPhone calls?

Check the Apple Watch entry under Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices. Because Apple ties watch Wi-Fi Calling to the master setting, also inspect the applicable Wi-Fi Calling list if the watch continues to ring.

Can I disable call relay on the iPad or Mac itself?

Yes. In FaceTime settings on the receiving device, turn off iPhone Mobile Calls. Apple documents this as a device-side way to turn off phone-call relay.

Will turning off call relay sign me out of FaceTime or my Apple Account?

No. The documented controls are settings changes. You do not need to remove the device from your Apple Account, sign out of FaceTime, or disconnect Wi-Fi just to stop relayed calls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do the iPhone and receiving device need the same Apple Account and Wi-Fi?

Apple’s setup guidance says the devices should use the same Apple Account and Wi-Fi network, be near the iPhone, and have FaceTime signed in with that account with the phone number enabled. Those conditions explain how relay works; they are not required steps for turning it off.

Is a purchase or accessory required?

No. Stopping call relay uses built-in Phone, Cellular, and FaceTime settings. No app, accessory, replacement part, or repair is required.

The Bottom Line

For a complete stop, use Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices and turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices. To silence only one device, leave that switch on and disable the device entry. If ringing continues, check the applicable line under Settings > Cellular > Calls on Other Devices for Wi-Fi Calling, or turn off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime on the receiving device.
