First enable live streaming on an eligible, verified channel, then create a stream in YouTube Studio, connect the encoder with the server URL and stream key, and test the feed before relying on it. For an India-based channel, YouTube’s general setup is the same; the official guidance reviewed does not describe a separate India-specific technical workflow.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Prerecorded video and audio that you have the necessary rights to broadcast in the intended territories.
- An encoder: software or hardware at your location, or a cloud service that sends the feed for you. YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders; its verified encoder list includes Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded streaming. Confirm any service’s current features, India availability, and price directly before choosing it.
- A reliable outbound internet connection if you run the encoder locally, plus a way to monitor the stream.
YouTube does not promise that a stream will run without interruption. An encoder’s playlist or loop behavior is product-specific, so check its current instructions for repeat playback rather than assuming every encoder handles looping the same way.
Set up the YouTube stream
- Enable live streaming in advance. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction from the past 90 days. If this is your first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling creates a watch page you can share before the stream begins. For the current controls, see YouTube’s live stream settings guide.
- Choose an encoder and prepare the playlist. For a local setup, select software or a hardware encoder that supports your files and intended output. Add the prerecorded video or playlist and set its repeat behavior according to that encoder’s documentation. For 24/7 operation, account for what happens when the playlist ends or a file fails.
- Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder. A stream key is a credential that directs the encoder’s feed to your stream. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast. YouTube explains the encoder connection and start/stop workflow in its encoder setup guide.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that video and audio appear in Live Control Room and that the intended stream is selected. YouTube recommends preparing ahead, checking the preview, and monitoring audio and video quality before and during the event. Its streaming tips recommend leaving 20% bandwidth headroom; this is platform guidance, not a guarantee against network failures.
- Keep watch on the feed. Check stream health, playback, and audio periodically, and have a plan to restart the encoder or restore the connection if it stops sending. If you end the broadcast, stop sending content from the encoder.
Choose where the encoder runs
Local computer or hardware encoder
A computer running encoder software or a standalone hardware encoder sends the feed over your internet connection. This can suit someone who wants to manage the playback locally and can leave the equipment and network running. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to begin; a mini PC or dedicated encoder is an optional choice, not a platform requirement. The trade-off is that power, the computer, encoder software, and internet connection all need to remain available and monitored.
Cloud service
A cloud streaming service can run the prerecorded feed without keeping your own computer on. YouTube’s verified encoder list describes Gyre as a cloud service for 24/7 prerecorded streaming, but the reviewed official material does not establish its current India availability, current price, or partner terms. Check the provider’s current documentation for supported formats, looping, resolution, recovery, and regional access.

Protect the stream from rights and policy problems
Only broadcast video and audio when you have the necessary rights for the intended territories. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption if the rights owner has not added your channel to its allowlist. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and livestream terms put responsibility for applicable rights, including music rights, on the provider. These sources do not determine the specific licensing answer for a particular Indian song, recording, or territory; get appropriate rights advice for your content.
Public availability online, having uploaded a track before, or receiving a license from one party does not by itself establish that you may rebroadcast it live. Keep written records of permissions and confirm that they cover the planned livestream and territories.

Plan for archives and monetization
Replays and archives
YouTube says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That statement covers streams under 12 hours, not a continuous 24-hour broadcast, so do not assume the full day will be available as one complete replay. If you need a replay, plan around the under-12-hour guidance and verify current behavior in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s encoder guide.
Ads and revenue
Eligible monetized channels can enable live-stream ads, including pre-roll and display ads, and may run mid-rolls. YouTube cautions that ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Watch-page ads and Premium revenue require acceptance of the relevant Watch Page Monetization Module; views alone do not promise earnings. Troubleshoot common failures
