To share Xbox digital games with other accounts, set the console they will use as the purchasing account’s Home Xbox. On that console, open Settings > Personalization > My home Xbox and choose the Home Xbox designation option. Other accounts on that console can then use the purchaser’s eligible games and durable add-ons without the purchaser staying signed in. Microsoft’s product-sharing documentation describes this behavior for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles.
Set the purchaser’s account as the Home Xbox on the sharing console
- Sign in with the Xbox account that owns the digital games or subscription content you want to share.
- On the console other people will use, open Settings > Personalization > My home Xbox.
- Choose the option to designate that console as this account’s Home Xbox. The exact button wording can vary by system version.
- Have each person sign in with their own Xbox account to access eligible shared content.
The Home Xbox setting belongs to the purchasing account, not to a particular game or to the other players’ accounts. Microsoft documents the menu path in its Product sharing model for games, updated April 22, 2026.

What other accounts can use on the Home Xbox
Microsoft says other accounts signed in on the designated Home console can use the purchaser’s digital games, durable downloadable add-ons, and content enabled as part of a subscription. The purchasing account does not have to remain signed in while they use that content.

Home Xbox versus another console

This distinction matters if the purchaser also plays on another console: the Home Xbox is the console that shares offline licenses with other accounts, while use elsewhere relies on the purchaser’s signed-in, online access.
Subscription content and limits
Microsoft’s documentation includes content enabled as part of a subscription in Home console sharing, but it does not specify which current Game Pass tiers qualify or whether every subscription benefit is shared. Check the terms for the specific plan and content rather than assuming all benefits transfer to other accounts.

The documentation cited here does not establish a current Home Xbox change allowance or reset schedule. It also describes console sharing for Xbox One and Xbox Series; do not assume the same licensing rules apply to Windows PC.
