On the PS5 your family member will use, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play and select Enable while signed in to the account that owns the games. That account’s purchased and downloaded games can then be played by other users on that PS5, including while it is offline. The setting can be enabled on only one PS5 at a time for that account.
Enable Console Sharing on the PS5 your family member will use
- On that PS5, sign in to the PlayStation account that purchased the digital games.
- Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. If Console Sharing is already enabled on a different PS5 for this account, disable it there first.
- Using the owner account, download the game to the shared PS5. Your family member can then switch to their own user profile and play it.
Sony says users of the enabled PS5 can “Play games and media you’ve purchased and downloaded.” This is access on that console, not a transfer of ownership. Joining the owner’s PlayStation family group is not listed as a requirement. See PlayStation’s setup and Console Sharing instructions.

What the other user can access
Other users on the enabled PS5 can play the owner’s purchased and downloaded games and use purchased and downloaded media, even when that PS5 is offline. The owner’s account remains the one that bought the content; the other user does not receive ownership or a separate entitlement to it.
The one-PS5 limit and moving sharing
Console Sharing and Offline Play can be enabled on one PS5 at a time for the account. If the owner wants to move sharing, disable it on the current PS5 and enable it on the new one. This setting does not enable sharing on every PS5 where the owner signs in.

If you no longer have the old PS5
If you cannot access the console where sharing is enabled, PlayStation offers remote deactivation of all devices through Account Management. PlayStation says this all-device action can be used only once every six months. Consult the official Console Sharing support page for the current deactivation instructions.

Console Sharing does not give the other user every PlayStation Plus benefit. Some benefits are shareable on the enabled PS5, while others—including online storage and redeeming Plus games on another account—are not. PlayStation’s PlayStation Plus benefit-sharing guide lists the distinctions.

A game accessed through a Plus catalog or other subscription entitlement is different from a game the owner bought outright: access depends on an active subscription and the title remaining available under the applicable plan. A Plus game redeemed by the owner does not become the other user’s separately owned game.

If a shared game is unavailable or shows a lock
- Confirm the signed-in owner account is the one that purchased the game, or holds the applicable subscription entitlement.
- Check that the game has been downloaded to the PS5 being used.
- Confirm Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled on that PS5 for the owner’s account.
- For subscription content, verify that the subscription is active and the title is still available on the relevant plan.
- If the game shows a lock icon, follow PlayStation’s license and network troubleshooting steps on its support page.
