To set up YouTube membership-gifting alerts in Streamlabs, connect your YouTube channel, create a gift-specific variation in Alert Box, add the alert widget to your streaming scene, and test it before going live. Streamlabs documents conditions for gift amount, how many memberships are gifted at once, and membership level; first confirm gifting is enabled for your channel.
Before you configure the alert
Streamlabs supports YouTube membership-gifting alerts in Alert Box, but alert support does not mean every YouTube channel can use gifting. Streamlabs’ article, first published May 20, 2022 and last updated September 5, 2025, described gifting as rolling out to a limited number of streamers at that time. The sources available here do not establish YouTube’s current eligibility criteria, so check your own channel’s YouTube tools to confirm the gifting feature is available before building an alert around it. You also need the YouTube account connected to Streamlabs and an alert widget in the scene you plan to broadcast. The exact way to add the widget depends on whether you use Streamlabs Desktop, OBS with the Streamlabs plugin, or other streaming software.

- Sign in at Streamlabs. Open the profile menu, then choose Account Settings → Platforms. Use Merge beside the platform you want to add and complete the connection flow. Available alert types depend on the platforms linked to your account. Streamlabs’ alert setup guide
- In the Streamlabs dashboard, select Alert Box from the left navigation or Streaming essentials, then open the YouTube alert settings and select Members. In Streamlabs Desktop, make sure YouTube is the selected platform for the relevant alert settings. Streamlabs’ membership-gifting guide
Create a gift-specific alert variation
A variation lets you use a different alert for a particular kind of membership gift instead of treating every member event identically. In Alert Box, use the following documented path:

- Select Open Alert Variations.
- Choose Add A Variation With Custom or Default Settings.
- Open Condition and choose the condition that matches the event you want to recognize.
- Configure the condition and alert appearance, then save your settings.

Pick a condition based on what should make the event feel distinct. A quantity threshold suits a larger-event celebration; a level condition distinguishes membership tiers. If you do not need different treatment, the standard member alert may be enough.

Choose what viewers see and hear
Streamlabs says the default gifting behavior shows the gifter’s name, how many memberships were gifted, and an alert for each new member. Cloudbot also automatically alerts chat. Streamlabs describes options to show a single alert for a gifting event or display the membership level name. These are different presentation choices: a bundled event alert emphasizes the gifter and total, while individual member alerts make each new member visible.

Add Alert Box to the broadcast scene
Saving an alert in the dashboard is not enough by itself; the widget must be part of the scene that is actually on air.
- Streamlabs Desktop: In Sources, select the plus sign and choose Alert Box.
- OBS with the Streamlabs plugin: Open Streamlabs → Widgets, then add Alert Box.
- Other streaming software: Copy the widget URL from the Streamlabs dashboard and add it as a browser source.

Test the alert before you go live
- In the dashboard, use Test, or in Streamlabs Desktop use Test Widgets.
- Watch the broadcast preview and confirm the alert is visible in the correct scene, not hidden behind another source or outside the canvas.
- Check that the wording, sound, animation and duration suit the gift variation you configured.

Troubleshooting
The membership-gift condition is missing
Check that the YouTube channel is connected and selected for the alert settings. Streamlabs says available alert types depend on linked platforms. Also confirm YouTube membership gifting is enabled for your channel; Streamlabs’ alert support alone cannot establish channel eligibility.

The alert does not appear in the scene
Verify that Alert Box was added as a source in the scene currently being broadcast. For browser-source setups, use the widget URL from the dashboard. Then run Test or Test Widgets and check the source’s placement and visibility.
The alert appears, but it is the wrong variation
Reopen Open Alert Variations and review the variation’s Condition. Confirm it uses the intended gift amount, at-once member threshold, or gift level, and save after editing.
Chat receives a notice but the on-screen alert is absent
Chat notifications and the on-screen Alert Box are separate parts of the setup. Confirm the widget is present in the active scene and test it there; Streamlabs says Cloudbot automatically alerts chat for gifting events.
