To set up visual change alerts in Hexowatch, create a Visual monitoring monitor, enter the page URL, preview it, choose whether to track the whole page or a specific area, set the check frequency and a notification channel, then select Start Monitoring. For responsive changes, preview the page at a device size such as mobile, tablet or desktop before starting.
Set up a visual monitor

Copy the URL of the page you want to watch and open your Hexowatch dashboard.

Choose the capture scope: the whole page or a specific area. Use a selected region when only one part of the page matters; use the whole page when any visible change may be important.

Visual monitoring is the appropriate choice when the signal you care about is appearance: for example, a layout shift, changed imagery or a visual regression. Hexowatch’s page-change tracking guide discusses matching a monitoring approach to the kind of change you need to catch. A visual alert is not a substitute for a text, source or uptime alert if that is the actual signal you need.
Set a realistic check frequency
The selected frequency controls how often Hexowatch checks the page; it does not guarantee that a notification will reach a particular inbox or device at that exact moment. Plan quotas and maximum intervals can limit the choices available. Hexowatch’s pricing page lists maximum check frequencies of 15 minutes for Pro and 5 minutes for Business, alongside plan check quotas. These are live plan details and can change, so confirm the current pricing page and the settings offered for your account before relying on a particular interval.

Troubleshoot setup and alert expectations
- The page preview does not look like the device you care about: select the relevant device size in the preview when that option is available, then inspect the rendered page before starting the monitor.
- The alert is noisy: switch from whole-page monitoring to a selected region if only one area matters, or choose content monitoring if you want visible text changes rather than visual differences.
- You need faster checks than the interface allows: check your plan’s current maximum frequency and quota on the pricing page; the available frequency is plan-limited.
- You receive no alert at the precise time of a change: a check interval is not an exact delivery-time guarantee. Confirm that the monitor is active and that the chosen notification channel is configured in your account.
- A preference mentioned in a tutorial is not visible in your setup: options such as proxy mode, date limits or device sizes may vary by account or plan; rely on the current controls shown in your dashboard.
