You can’t add UPI details in YouTube Studio. Creators turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio; viewers choose a payment method during checkout. Google Play lists UPI in India, and some new Super Chat purchases in the YouTube Android app are billed through Google Play, but official help does not guarantee UPI will be available for every one-time Super Chat purchase. Check the payment options shown in your own checkout before confirming.
Creator setup: turn on Super Chat
Creator settings control whether a channel can receive Supers; they do not set a viewer’s payment method. If you manage an eligible channel, enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio:
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer and open Earn > Supers. YouTube’s mobile Studio instructions also use Earn > Supers.
- If the Supers tab is available, select Get started and follow the setup instructions.
- If prompted, accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM).
- After setup, switch Super Chat on.
The Supers tab appears only for eligible channels. YouTube says creators must meet the applicable feature requirements, be at least 18, live in a location where the feature is available, and accept the CPM or the formerly available Commerce Product Addendum. Check the channel’s current Earn tab and YouTube’s monetization eligibility information, since requirements can change. YouTube lists India as a location where viewers can buy Super Chats.
See YouTube’s instructions for turning Super Chat and Super Stickers on or off.

Viewer checkout: choose a payment method
To try to use UPI, make the purchase as a viewer and check the methods YouTube offers at checkout:
- Open a live stream or Premiere with live chat and select the dollar-sign purchase control.
- Select Super Chat, choose an amount and, if you want, enter a message.
- Continue to checkout. Review the payment method displayed before confirming the purchase.
- If you are using the YouTube Android app and the purchase is billed through Google Play, review the available payment methods on the Google account signed in to Google Play. Add or select an available method there if needed.
Google Play’s India payment-methods page lists UPI and specifically mentions it for subscriptions. YouTube says some new Super Chat purchases in the Android app are billed through Google Play. Those statements do not establish that UPI will be offered for every one-time Super Chat purchase; availability may depend on the checkout route and account. Use the payment choices actually displayed for your transaction.

YouTube’s Super Chat purchase instructions describe the viewer flow and Android billing note.
Why UPI may not appear
- The purchase is using a different checkout route. Google Play billing applies to some new purchases in the YouTube Android app, not necessarily every device, account or transaction.
- The signed-in account or payment profile is not the one you expect. Check the Google account and the payment methods available to it.
- UPI is not offered for this particular transaction. The official pages do not promise UPI for every one-time Super Chat. Check the checkout methods and follow Google Play’s current payment-method or payment-issue help if the purchase is billed there.
There is no creator-side UPI setting to change: adding a UPI ID in YouTube Studio or changing Super Chat settings does not add UPI to a viewer’s checkout. The official help pages reviewed do not give a Super Chat-specific fix for a missing UPI option. Do not use another person’s payment credentials to work around it.

Creator settings and viewer payment are separate
If your goal is to send a Super Chat, you choose from the methods shown at purchase; you do not add UPI through the channel’s settings. If you run a channel, enabling Super Chat makes the feature available to eligible viewers but does not determine which payment methods appear for them. For an India-based viewer, UPI is listed among Google Play’s payment methods, but whether it appears for a one-time Super Chat depends on the checkout presented for that purchase.

Super Chat payment setup is separate from keeping a channel’s live stream running. If you also want prerecorded video to keep streaming on YouTube while your computer is off, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
