Once the store is linked, wait for product review and arrange eligible items. A connected store does not guarantee that every product—or the shelf on every video or device—will appear.
What YouTube means by “merch shelf”
YouTube Shopping can show products in several places: a channel store or Store tab, product links in descriptions, a product shelf beside or below eligible videos and livestreams, and product tags or a Shopping button. These are different surfaces. The channel-level product arrangement is managed in Studio’s Shopping tab; an individual video’s shelf may not appear in every situation.

YouTube describes Shopping as a way for eligible creators to showcase products and official branded merchandise. The retailer or store platform—not Google—handles sales and local shipping support. See YouTube’s guidance for managing products from a store.

Check whether your channel is eligible
YouTube Shopping is not available to every channel. YouTube’s current overview says a channel must be in the YouTube Partner Program and meet the applicable subscriber threshold, or be an Official Artist Channel, as well as meet audience and policy requirements. The threshold depends on the applicable YouTube Partner Program criteria; check YouTube’s current eligibility guidance rather than relying on an old subscriber number.

Sign in to YouTube Studio and look under Earn. If Shopping is not available, check eligibility first: the Shopping tab appears only for eligible channels. Also review the channel’s audience settings and applicable YouTube policies before trying to connect a store.
Prepare an official store
You need a supported retailer or store platform with products that can be connected to YouTube. Shopify is one documented option, but it is not required. Before choosing or connecting a platform, check that it supports your country, works with your existing store, can provide a compliant product feed, and handles shipping and orders where you sell.

Make sure the products and listings are ready for review. YouTube checks connected products against YouTube and Google Merchant Center policies. A successful store connection does not mean every listing will be approved.
Connect your store in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to the YouTube channel you want to use and open YouTube Studio.
- In the left menu, select Earn, then Shopping. This tab is visible only if the channel is eligible.
- If you have not connected a store, select Get Started. To add another store, select Connect new store.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to link the channel to its official store and complete the platform’s authorization steps.
- Wait for YouTube to review the products. YouTube says review typically takes a few business days; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed turnaround.
YouTube allows creators to connect multiple stores. If a product is disapproved, check its policy status and product-feed details with the store administrator or retailer. That party may be able to submit an appeal.

Shopify setup: use its Google & YouTube app
If your store is on Shopify, YouTube documents a separate connection route through Shopify’s Google & YouTube app:
- Install or open the Google & YouTube app in Shopify.
- Connect a Google account that has admin access to the intended YouTube channel.
- In the app, choose YouTube Shopping, then select Get Started.
- Select the correct YouTube channel, accept the terms, and complete the setup prompts.
If setup stalls, verify that the connected Google account is an administrator of the channel and that you selected the intended channel. Shopify is an optional integration, not a prerequisite for YouTube Shopping.

Choose and order the products shown
Eligible products may be displayed automatically. To customize the channel-level selection, go to YouTube Studio > Earn > Shopping, create or customize the product selection, arrange the items, and save. You can select and order up to 30 items for this arrangement. If you prefer YouTube’s automatic arrangement, use the return-to-auto-selection option in the Shopping tab.

If your chosen items appear in the channel store but not on a particular video or livestream, check that content’s eligibility and the viewer’s context before changing the store connection.

Why is my YouTube Shopping shelf not showing?
- The Shopping tab is missing in Studio: check that the channel meets the current YouTube Shopping eligibility requirements, including the applicable YPP threshold or Official Artist Channel status and policy conditions.
- The store is connected, but no products appear: confirm at least one product is approved and eligible. Check the product feed, listing status, and Merchant Center access with the retailer or store administrator.
- The shelf is absent from particular videos or livestreams: YouTube may restrict Shopping features based on made-for-kids status, copyright claims, limited or ineligible monetization, ticketing or donations, or Creator Music revenue sharing.
- Some viewers see the shelf and others do not: availability can depend on the viewer’s country and the device or browser used. Check the surface and context before assuming the store connection failed.
- Shopify will not complete setup: confirm the Google account connected to the app has admin access to the intended channel, then verify that the correct channel was selected.
