Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo use Steam Cloud saves, enable Steam Cloud globally in the Steam client and for the individual game, then let Steam finish syncing before you switch computers. First confirm that the game supports Steam Cloud: developers choose which files a game uploads, so the Cloud indicator does not guarantee that campaign saves or every setting will sync.
Check whether the game syncs its saves
Open the game’s Steam Store page and look for the Steam Cloud indicator. Steam says developers control how each title uses Cloud, including which user files are uploaded; a game may sync settings or other data without syncing save files. Check the developer’s documentation or the game’s community if you need to confirm that your turn-based campaign, match, or run is included. Steam Support’s Steam Cloud overview explains these limits.

Cloud can support cross-platform integration, but each game must implement it. Do not assume that a save made on Windows will be available on macOS or Linux unless the game’s developer confirms support for that title. Steamworks documentation describes the feature for developers.

Enable Steam Cloud
Steam provides a global setting for supported games and a separate per-game setting. Turn on both for the game you want to sync. Menu wording can vary slightly by Steam client version or localization.

Switch computers safely, including after Offline Mode
When you play in Offline Mode, Steam cannot upload changes until you reconnect. Before opening the game on another computer, reconnect to Steam and allow the pending sync to complete. Otherwise, both devices may have changed copies of the same save, which can trigger a conflict. Steam Support’s Offline Mode guidance

If Steam says it cannot sync, resolve the connection or other sync issue before launching the game if preserving progress matters. Steam warns that continuing can leave local and cloud files in conflict and may result in lost progress. Steam’s Cloud FAQ

A conflict means the local files and Steam Cloud copy differ. When Steam presents a choice, compare the displayed timestamps with when and where you actually played, then select the copy containing the progress you intend to keep. Do not automatically prefer the cloud copy: it is not necessarily the newest version of your campaign or run. Troubleshoot without making recovery harder
Steam documents these default locations for local user data:
- Windows:
C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata - macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata - Linux:
~/.local/share/Steam/userdata
Under userdata, account folders contain game folders identified by app ID. Steam’s cloud_log.txt, in the Steam installation’s logs directory, records files written to or retrieved from Cloud. Install locations can vary. These paths and logs can help with troubleshooting, but manually changing files is not a guaranteed way to resolve a conflict. - Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
Steam Support says it has limited ability to address automated Cloud synchronization and cannot recover lost saves or resolve conflicts; lost data is unlikely to be recoverable through Support. If the computer with the intended save is still available, Steam suggests launching the game there and allowing it to sync. If the game does not use Steam Cloud, ask the developer for help finding its save files. Steam Cloud FAQ
