To let a second call from the same number through while Do not disturb is on, enable Repeat callers in your Galaxy’s call exceptions. Samsung says the repeat call must arrive within 15 minutes. This is a conditional exception—not a guarantee that every emergency call will ring.
Turn on Repeat callers
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications, then Do not disturb.
- Under Allowed during Do not disturb, tap Calls and messages.
- Turn on Repeat callers.
Samsung’s instructions describe the rule as allowing calls from the same phone number received more than once within 15 minutes. See Samsung Support’s Galaxy call settings.

Open the setting from Quick Settings
Swipe down to open Quick Settings, then touch and hold the Do not disturb icon. This opens its settings, where you can find the call exceptions. Samsung documents this route in its Galaxy Do not disturb instructions.

Understand what counts as a repeat caller
The exception depends on two conditions: the caller uses the same phone number, and that number calls again within 15 minutes. It does not designate a person as trusted in advance. Android Help describes the same repeat-call window in its Do Not Disturb instructions.
Choose repeat calls or allow callers in advance
| Option | Who can get through | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat callers | The same number calls again within 15 minutes. | The caller must make a second call within the window. |
| Allowed callers or selected contacts | Callers in an allowed group, or contacts you select, depending on the controls available on your phone. | Does not depend on the caller making a second call. |
To allow someone without requiring a repeat call, open Calls and messages and choose an available caller or contact option. Samsung’s settings may include all callers, contacts only, favorite contacts, or selected contacts; availability varies by device and software version.
