How to Set Up Managed OpenClaw with Hostinger Email

Connect a Hostinger mailbox to Managed OpenClaw directly with IMAP/SMTP or through Agentic Mail. Follow the setup steps, choose the right credentials, and verify the connection.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To connect a Hostinger mailbox directly to Managed OpenClaw, open your workspace and ask: “Connect my OpenClaw with Hostinger mail.” Provide the mailbox credentials and Hostinger’s IMAP/SMTP settings. You can also connect through Hostinger Agentic Mail, a separate API-token method with different setup steps.

Before you start

The direct IMAP/SMTP connection requires an active Hostinger hosting plan, an active Hostinger Email mailbox, and a Managed OpenClaw workspace. Managed OpenClaw availability is rolling out by region, so check whether it appears in your Hostinger account.

  • Make sure the mailbox is created and you can access it.
  • If the domain’s email is hosted at Hostinger, confirm its MX records point to Hostinger. Hostinger’s email setup guidance covers account and domain configuration.

Some customers with a recently purchased, not-yet-configured Hostinger Email plan may see a mailbox setup step during Managed OpenClaw onboarding. Completing it can connect the mailbox without additional steps. If you do not see that step, connect it manually below.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Option 1: Connect with IMAP and SMTP

  1. In the Hostinger dashboard, open your Managed OpenClaw workspace.
  2. Send this prompt: Connect my OpenClaw with Hostinger mail.
  3. When asked, provide your mailbox address, IMAP username, password or eligible app password, and sender display name, along with the server settings below. The IMAP username is usually the full email address.
Purpose Server Port Security
Incoming mail (IMAP) imap.hostinger.com 993 SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP) smtp.hostinger.com 465 SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail alternative smtp.hostinger.com 587 TLS or STARTTLS

Hostinger lists these values in its email configuration settings. Use port 587 with TLS or STARTTLS if SMTP encryption on port 465 does not work.

  1. Wait for OpenClaw’s confirmation. Then ask it to send a low-risk test email to an address you control and confirm that it arrives before relying on the connection. Hostinger says the agent can retrieve or search email and send email once connected; the test is a practical verification, not a guarantee of delivery.

Using an app password

If two-factor authentication is enabled, Hostinger’s OpenClaw instructions mention using an app password. App passwords are available only on plans that support them, require an active mailbox, and provide full access to that mailbox. Hostinger says the generated value is shown once and can be revoked separately. Store it securely and do not paste it into public or shared logs. See Hostinger’s app-password instructions to check eligibility and create one.

Option 2: Connect with Hostinger Agentic Mail

Agentic Mail is a separate route: it uses an API token and an API or MCP endpoint rather than manually supplying IMAP/SMTP credentials. It works with existing Hostinger Email mailboxes; create the mailbox in the Hostinger dashboard first, because the API does not create mailboxes.

  1. Generate an Agentic Mail API token in the Hostinger dashboard, or generate one for a single mailbox from Webmail. Choose whether its scope should include all mailboxes or selected mailboxes.
  2. Copy and store the token securely. It is shown only once.
  3. In Managed OpenClaw, add the token in the application’s Environment settings as a variable such as AGENTMAIL_API_KEY, apply the change, and restart the application.
  4. Once OpenClaw is running, ask it to use that environment variable with Hostinger’s documented Agentic Mail API URL or MCP server URL.
  5. Test the connection by asking OpenClaw to send an email and confirm that it arrives.

Follow Hostinger’s Agentic Mail connection guide for the endpoint and dashboard steps.

Which connection method should you use?

Consideration Direct IMAP/SMTP Agentic Mail
Credential Mailbox password or eligible app password Agentic Mail API token
Where you set it up Start in the workspace by prompting OpenClaw, then provide the requested details Add a token in Environment settings, apply it, and restart the application
Mailbox scope The mailbox whose credentials you configure Selected mailboxes or all mailboxes, according to token scope
Verification Wait for confirmation and test sending or retrieving email Restart, then test by sending an email

Hostinger documents both methods but does not establish that one is categorically faster or safer. Choose based on whether you want to configure a mailbox through the assistant or use a token with a defined mailbox scope.

Troubleshooting

  • Authentication fails: Recheck the full mailbox address, password or app password, and the IMAP username. The username is usually the complete email address.
  • Incoming mail does not connect: Confirm the IMAP server is imap.hostinger.com, port 993, with SSL/TLS.
  • Sending fails: Confirm the SMTP server is smtp.hostinger.com, port 465, with SSL/TLS. If encryption negotiation fails, try port 587 with TLS or STARTTLS.
  • You cannot find app-password controls: Check whether your Hostinger Email plan supports app passwords.
  • Agentic Mail does not connect: Confirm the environment variable was applied, restart the application, and check that the token scope includes the mailbox you intend to use.
