First check Settings > About Phone or About Device and note both details. Then use the supported options for that device rather than assuming a global-ROM guide applies.
Check whether your OPPO model supports Google services
OPPO says China-version devices do not come with Google Play Store or other Google apps preinstalled. Its regional guidance is specific to the Reno 5G China Version, so it should not be treated as proof that every OPPO model has the same Google-services switch. See OPPO’s China-version guidance and confirm instructions for your exact model and software version.

- Open Settings > About Phone or About Device and record the model and ColorOS version.
- Look in Settings for a Google or Google Mobile Services option. You can also check OPPO App Market for an official Google component offered for your model.
- If no supported option appears, contact OPPO support for the exact model. Do not assume arbitrary APK bundles or global-ROM flashing are suitable: the appropriate steps are model-specific and are not established by OPPO’s guidance cited here.
Understand what the Google components do
Google Play Store and Google Play services are different. The Play Store is the app storefront; Google says Play services connects apps to Google services such as Google Sign-In and Maps. A Play Store icon by itself does not confirm that every Google-dependent feature will work. Google states that Play services is included with Android and is supported on Android 7.0 (API 24) and later. Google Play Help explains Google Play services.

Once the phone has working Google components, add your account through the account menu in Settings. Depending on the ColorOS release, OPPO lists the menu as Accounts and Sync, Users & Accounts, Manage accounts, or Passwords & accounts. Choose the Google account option, sign in, and complete Google’s verification prompts. OPPO lists Play Store, Gmail, Drive, Photos, Calendar, and Contacts as examples of services available with an account. See OPPO’s account setup guidance.

Allow notifications and background activity
For each app that needs timely alerts, open its app-info or notification settings and allow notifications. Enable the specific categories you need, such as messages or reminders; the menu names and locations can vary by model and ColorOS release.
Also allow apps that need prompt alerts to start automatically or run in the background. OPPO documents this route for ColorOS 12 and later: Settings > Apps > Auto launch. Some older software uses Phone Manager > Privacy Permissions > Startup Manager or an auto-launch apps setting. OPPO notes that the Phone Manager option is not available on ColorOS 12–13, and labels can vary on newer builds. Check OPPO’s auto-launch instructions.

To test delivery, send yourself a message or set a reminder, lock the screen, wait, and check whether the alert arrives. If it is delayed, check that app’s notification permission and categories, auto-launch or background permission, network access, and any battery restrictions shown in the app settings. These checks can help identify a setting that is blocking alerts, but they do not guarantee prompt delivery on every handset.

Fix Play Store downloads that fail
If Play Store is present but downloads do not work, start by checking the internet connection and restarting the phone. OPPO also recommends allowing network access for both Google Play Store and Google Services Framework.

- On ColorOS 7 and later, look for the network-permission controls under Settings > SIM card & mobile data or Mobile network > Data usage > Network permissions or Network access. Enable Wi-Fi and mobile data for Play Store and Google Services Framework. The exact labels vary by version.
- On ColorOS 12 and later, clear the Play Store cache at Settings > Apps > App management > Google Play Store > Storage usage > Clear cache, then restart the phone.
