What a Palworld Discord notification setup actually does
A Discord webhook connects one Discord channel to your Palworld server process. When the host or server wrapper detects an enabled event, it sends a message to the webhook URL, and Discord publishes that message in the channel associated with the webhook.
This is a notification path, not a replacement for server administration. You still manage the game server through your host panel, container tools, console, RCON, or another management interface. A webhook simply reports selected state changes where your staff or players already communicate.

Events you can usually report
Start and stop notifications are the most useful baseline. They tell you when a scheduled restart has completed, when a process has stopped unexpectedly, or when planned maintenance has begun or ended. Depending on the host or Docker image, additional switches can cover restarts, software updates, fresh installations, and player joins or leaves.
Event availability is implementation-specific. A managed panel may expose a short list of checkboxes, while a Docker image may provide separate enable flags, message templates, suppression controls, or timeout settings. Do not assume that an option documented for one image exists in another.
Choose the setup path that matches your server
Your first decision is whether Palworld is running through a managed control panel or in a container that you administer. Both paths use the same Discord concept—a webhook URL—but the configuration surface is different.

A managed panel is the shorter route if you want a form, provider support, and integrated backups. Docker is the better fit when you need reproducible configuration, version-controlled deployment, or image-level control over event messages. Neither route changes Discord’s security model: the URL still grants posting access.
Create the Discord webhook
Do this before changing the Palworld server. The webhook must be created in the exact channel where notifications should appear.

- Open Discord and select the server that should receive Palworld alerts.
- Open the settings for the destination text channel.
- Choose Integrations, then Webhooks.
- Create a new webhook. Give it a recognizable name, such as the name of the Palworld server or environment.
- Confirm that the webhook’s channel is the intended destination.
- Copy the complete webhook URL. Keep it out of public chat, screenshots, tickets, repositories, and shared logs.
The URL is the connection credential. Documentation for a managed Palworld hosting panel states: “Security: Keep this URL private! Anyone with this URL can post to your channel.” If it is exposed, rotate or delete the webhook in Discord and replace the old value in your server configuration.

Configure a managed Palworld host
Managed hosts label the integration slightly differently, but the workflow is consistent. The following procedure applies to a panel that provides a Settings or Community section and a Discord Webhook URL field.
- Sign in to the host’s control panel and open the specific Palworld server, not a general account-wide settings page.
- Open Settings or Community, then locate the Discord integration area.
- Paste the complete webhook URL into Discord Webhook URL. Do not add quotation marks, spaces, or extra punctuation.
- Select the notification preferences shown by the panel. Start and stop are a sensible first pair; add other events only if your panel offers them and your channel can handle the volume.
- Save or apply the configuration. If the panel offers a restart or reload action, use it only after the configuration has been saved.
- Perform one controlled verification, such as a planned restart during a maintenance window, and check the destination channel.
If your provider offers automatic backups, SSH, RCON, or a REST API, those features are separate from webhook delivery. They can help you administer the server, but they are not required for a basic notification connection.
What to record for a managed server
- The Discord server and channel that own the webhook.
- The Palworld instance to which the URL was added.
- Which event preferences are enabled.
- Who can rotate the webhook if the URL is exposed.
- The maintenance window used for testing, so a test alert is not mistaken for an outage.
Configure a Docker deployment
Docker images expose the integration through environment variables. The names are not universal, so read the documentation for the exact image and version you run. One documented pattern uses WEBHOOK_ENABLED and WEBHOOK_URL; other Palworld images use DISCORD_WEBHOOK_URL plus separate variables for event enablement and message text.
Set the core variables
In the environment section used by your image, enable the webhook and provide the Discord URL:

WEBHOOK_ENABLED=true
WEBHOOK_URL=Place the complete URL after WEBHOOK_URL=. The empty assignment above is intentional: copy the value from Discord rather than inventing or shortening it. If your image documents DISCORD_WEBHOOK_URL instead, use that documented name; WEBHOOK_URL and DISCORD_WEBHOOK_URL are not interchangeable by default.
Set event-specific options only when the image supports them
Some images provide separate switches and message variables for server start, stop, restart, update, fresh install, player join, and player leave. They may also expose controls for suppressed or silent notifications and request timeouts. Use the exact spelling, capitalization, accepted values, and syntax in the image’s current documentation. A variable copied from another image can be silently ignored or leave the integration disabled.
Apply the configuration safely
- Stop editing the running container’s temporary environment and update the persistent Compose file, hosting dashboard, or environment file that recreates it.
- Check that the webhook URL is complete and that it is not being wrapped in an unintended pair of quotes or truncated by a line break.
- Save the environment change and recreate or restart the container using your normal Docker procedure.
- Inspect the container’s startup output for configuration errors without publishing the URL contained in any log line.
- Trigger one controlled event and verify the Discord channel before enabling additional event types.
For a Compose-based deployment, keep the secret outside a public repository where possible. If you use an environment file, protect its permissions and ensure that diagnostic output does not print the value.
Choose notification events without creating channel noise

Start with start and stop. Add restart or update when administrators need operational history. Add player events only in a moderation channel or when the image provides suppression and routing controls. If the panel offers no event-level controls, consider using a dedicated channel so operational notices do not bury player conversation.

Verify delivery with a controlled test
Do not use an unexpected outage as your first test. Schedule a brief maintenance window, announce it to players, and perform one action that should generate an enabled event.

- Confirm that the webhook still belongs to the intended Discord channel.
- Confirm that the Palworld panel or container configuration is saved and active.
- Trigger one event, such as a planned server restart. For join and leave alerts, use a test account or a cooperative player rather than disrupting a live session.
- Watch the channel for the expected message. Check the sender name and channel to ensure that the alert came from the intended webhook.
- Record the result and then decide whether additional event types are worth enabling.
A successful message proves that the URL, channel, network path, and selected event worked together for that test. It does not prove that every event is enabled; test each important event separately when operational coverage matters.

No messages arrive for any event
- Verify that the webhook integration is enabled. In Docker, check the image’s required enable flag, not just the URL variable.
- Confirm that the URL was copied in full and has not been truncated by a panel field, environment file, line break, or secret-management setting.
- Check that the process can make outbound HTTPS connections to Discord. A local firewall, container network policy, proxy, or DNS failure can prevent delivery.
- Confirm that you used the variable name documented by your image.
WEBHOOK_URLandDISCORD_WEBHOOK_URLrequire explicit image support. - Recreate or restart the container after changing environment values; editing a file does not necessarily alter an already-running process.
One event works but another does not
- Open the event-specific settings and confirm that the missing event is enabled.
- Check whether the image uses a separate message variable or suppression switch for that event.
- Review timeout settings if the image documents them. A restrictive timeout can prevent a slow request from completing.
- Confirm that the event actually occurred in the way the wrapper detects it. For example, a host-level update and a game-process restart may be separate event types.
The message appears in the wrong channel
Inspect the webhook in Discord and verify its assigned channel. Creating a second webhook with a similar name does not change the channel associated with the URL already stored in Palworld. Replace the stored URL only after confirming which webhook should receive the alerts.
Messages are duplicated or too frequent
Check whether both start/stop and restart notifications are enabled for the same operation. A wrapper may report one restart as a stop followed by a start and also emit a restart event. Disable overlapping events or use the image’s silent or suppressed options when available. For busy servers, move player join and leave notices to a separate channel.
The configuration uses undocumented options
Third-party Docker settings are not the same as official Palworld server documentation. Some image settings are explicitly documented only by the image maintainer. Treat the image’s current settings page as the authority for its variable names and supported behavior, and avoid copying options from an unrelated wrapper.
Protect and rotate the webhook
Anyone who possesses the URL can post to the channel. Store it like a password and limit access to the panel, Compose files, environment files, backups, and logs that contain it.
- Do not paste the URL into public issue trackers, chat, screenshots, or a public repository.
- Redact the URL before sharing startup logs or configuration examples.
- Use a separate webhook for each environment or server when different administrators need different access boundaries.
- Rotate the webhook immediately if it appears in public or untrusted material.
Rotation procedure
- In Discord channel settings, open Integrations and Webhooks.
- Edit the exposed webhook or delete it and create a replacement.
- Copy the replacement URL.
- Replace the old value in the managed panel or Docker secret/environment configuration.
- Save the deployment, recreate the container if necessary, and run one controlled test.
- Remove the old value from accessible logs, repositories, and shared documents where practical.
Ports and management interfaces: what is and is not required
A webhook only needs the server process to reach Discord over HTTPS. It does not require RCON or the REST API. Those interfaces can be useful for administration, automation, or diagnostics, but they are independent of Discord posting.

A managed Palworld hosting overview lists these configuration ports:

These are host overview values, not a promise that every deployment uses the same mappings. Follow your provider or image documentation for actual exposed ports, and do not open an interface merely to make Discord notifications work.
A practical operating pattern
For a small private server, enable start and stop alerts in a dedicated operations channel. Announce planned maintenance separately so a stop message is not mistaken for an outage. After the basic path works, add restart and update events if administrators need a change history.
For a busy community server, keep operational notices separate from player conversation. Enable join and leave events only when moderators have a clear use for them, and use suppression or silent settings when the image supports those controls. Review the channel after a normal high-activity period; if alerts obscure human messages, reduce the event set rather than asking players to ignore the channel.
