To use JBL wireless earbuds, charge them as their model guide directs, put them into that model’s pairing mode, and select them in your phone or tablet’s Bluetooth settings. The exact tap, button, reset, and app instructions vary across JBL models, so identify your earbuds before following any model-specific steps.
Find your JBL earbud model first
Look for the model name on the earbuds, charging case, packaging, or product documentation. Then open the matching guide in JBL Support. The instructions for one model are not necessarily right for another: JBL’s Live Free NC+ TWS quick-start guide, for example, shows that model’s connection and left/right earbud reconnection steps, not a universal procedure for the entire JBL range.

Pair the earbuds with a phone or tablet
- Charge the earbuds and case as described in the guide for your model.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your phone or tablet. The setting is usually labeled Bluetooth, but its location depends on the device.
- Put the earbuds into pairing mode using the instructions for your JBL model. Do not assume a particular tap, button press, LED color, or pairing timeout applies to all models.
- Select the JBL earbuds from the available Bluetooth devices and follow any prompts shown by your device.
If the earbuds do not appear, check that they are charged and follow the model guide’s directions for entering pairing mode. JBL’s guide also treats connecting the left and right earbuds to each other as a distinct step on some models; use your own guide if one earbud does not connect or play sound.

Learn the touch and button controls
Tap and hold gestures can control functions such as playback or calls, but their assignments differ by model. Check the controls diagram or instructions in the matching manual rather than relying on a gesture chart for another pair of JBL earbuds.

Some compatible earbuds can be detected in the My JBL Headphones app, which may offer adjustable gesture settings. App support and available options depend on the product; consult the model’s documentation to confirm compatibility before expecting a particular feature.
Charge the earbuds and care for the contacts
If the earbuds are not charging reliably, inspect the metal contacts on both the earbuds and inside the case. JBL identifies dirty contacts as a possible cause and recommends cleaning them.

- Check the care directions for your model first.
- Gently clean the contact points on the earbuds and case with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol, following JBL’s cleaning instructions.
- Wipe away residue and let the case interior dry completely before closing it.
Avoid forcing or scraping the contacts. JBL recommends periodic contact cleaning as part of its charging guidance.

Troubleshoot Bluetooth and connection problems
- Earbuds do not appear in Bluetooth settings: Confirm they are charged and use the model guide to enter pairing mode.
- Only one earbud connects: Follow the guide’s instructions for reconnecting the left and right earbuds; the steps vary by model.
- Connection is unreliable: Check the source device’s Bluetooth connection and the earbuds’ charge, then follow the model-specific connection or reconnection guidance.
If these steps do not resolve the problem, find the support article for the exact model before trying a reset.

Reset only with the instructions for your model
There is no single reset gesture established for all JBL wireless earbuds. JBL publishes different factory-reset methods for different product families, including a procedure specifically for the Endurance Series. A factory reset can erase settings and Bluetooth data, after which you may need to remove (“forget”) the earbuds from your phone or tablet and pair them again. Identify the exact model and follow its JBL factory-reset instructions before proceeding.
