HMD’s official materials identify the phone as the HMD VIBE2 5G, not “Vibe 2 Pro,” and its user guide does not document a built-in AI assistant or device-specific assistant settings. If your phone has Google Assistant installed, Google’s general Android instructions offer a starting point: try “Hey Google” or press and hold Home. The exact assistant and controls available can vary by software version and region.
First, confirm which HMD phone you have
HMD’s official VIBE2 5G user guide uses the model name HMD VIBE2 5G. The reviewed HMD documentation does not establish that a phone marketed as “Vibe 2 Pro” is the same model. Check the model name in your phone’s About screen, and consult HMD support for your region if it differs.

The guide covers general setup and use, but does not identify an AI assistant, name an assistant model, or describe an assistant-specific setting. So the steps below are Google’s general Android guidance—not confirmation that every VIBE2 5G has Google Assistant or the same menus.
Try opening Google Assistant
- Say “Hey Google”, or touch and hold the phone’s Home button if it has one.
- If Google Assistant is off and the phone supports it, follow the on-screen prompt to turn it on.
- Ask a question or speak a command once the assistant opens.
These are Google’s general Android launch and first-use directions in its Set up Assistant help page. If neither method works, that does not establish that the phone is faulty: the assistant, launch gesture, or relevant Google app may be unavailable or different on your software version.

Turn on “Hey Google” and Voice Match
For voice activation and voice recognition, Google’s guidance is to open the Google Home app and go to Settings → Google Assistant → Voice Match. Turn on Hey Google, then follow the prompts to set up Voice Match. Menu labels may differ by app or software version.
See Google’s voice access and Voice Match instructions for Android. If the described path is missing, check whether the relevant Google apps are installed and updated; do not assume the HMD guide confirms this menu for the VIBE2 5G.

Allow Assistant on the lock screen, if desired
Hands-free use while the phone is locked requires enabling Google Assistant’s lock-screen setting. Lock-screen access and personal results are separate controls, so enabling Voice Match alone does not make every Assistant function or personal result available while locked. Use the lock-screen options in Google’s Android voice access help and review what information you want accessible from a locked phone.

- Check the model and software version in the phone’s About screen.
- Check which Google apps are installed and whether they are available for your device and region.
- Use HMD’s VIBE2 5G guide for general device instructions.
- Contact HMD through its official phone support. HMD says its My Device app can also provide user guides and support.
Those checks are especially important if your phone is sold under the “Vibe 2 Pro” name: the reviewed HMD sources do not confirm that name’s relationship to the VIBE2 5G or which assistant the regional software includes.
