The reliable way to host OmniFactory is to use the matching Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip, run it from a dedicated folder with the Java release recommended for Minecraft 1.12.2, accept the EULA on first launch, then align every client with the same pack release and Forge configuration. OmniFactory is an expert, GregTech Community Edition-focused pack, so its server needs more careful version control and troubleshooting than a vanilla world.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
What you need before installing
OmniFactory’s project description calls it “a extremely tech focused expert pack centered around Gregtech Community Edition.” That design affects setup: the server and clients must agree on a large collection of mods, configuration files and Forge behavior. A client that is merely on Minecraft 1.12.2 is not sufficient; it must use the same OmniFactory release and a compatible Forge profile.

| Pack release | OmniFactory/Omnifactory 1.3.2 |
| Minecraft version | 1.12.2 |
| Mod loader | Forge |
| Dedicated-server download | Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip from the CurseForge files page |
| Server ZIP upload date | June 18, 2025 |
| Java version | Not stated as a single universal number; use the Java release specified by the pack or launcher for Minecraft 1.12.2 |
File listings and descriptions sometimes use “Omnifactory” while the title is commonly written “OmniFactory.” Search for the exact server ZIP name rather than downloading a client-only archive or a different release.
Hardware, network and account prerequisites
- A computer or rented server that can run a Forge-based 1.12.2 modpack continuously.
- Permission to create folders, run Java and open the listening port through the operating system firewall.
- A stable local network for testing and a reachable public connection if people outside your home will join.
- A separate backup location, not just another folder inside the live server directory.
- The OmniFactory client profile for every player. The client and server must use the same pack version and compatible Forge configuration.
The pack documentation and launcher guidance are the authority for Java compatibility. Do not select a Java release merely because it is the newest one installed on your computer. CurseForge’s general server guidance likewise recommends checking Java from a terminal and launching from the server directory.

Choose where to host the server
You can run the server on a machine you control or use managed modded-Minecraft hosting. The right choice depends less on the ZIP itself than on who will maintain Java, backups and network access.
| Consideration | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Uses existing hardware; electricity and Internet costs vary. | Usually a recurring hosting charge; no specific amount is established here. |
| Files and mods | Full control over the ZIP, scripts, configs, worlds and mods. | Control depends on the provider; confirm that custom Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge ZIP uploads are allowed. |
| Backups and updates | You schedule, verify and store them yourself. | The provider may offer automation, but confirm retention, restore access and whether modpack updates are included. |
| CPU and RAM | You choose the machine and must leave resources for the operating system. | The plan determines the allocation; verify that it is appropriate for a large expert pack and your player count. |
| Network setup | You handle firewall rules, router forwarding and an address players can reach. | The provider normally supplies the public endpoint, subject to its policies. |
| Player capacity | Limited by your CPU, memory, storage and upload bandwidth. | Limited by the purchased allocation and the host’s infrastructure. |
| Custom ZIP support | Always available because you control the files. | Must be confirmed before purchase, specifically for a 1.12.2 Forge server ZIP. |
If you self-host, first prove that the pack starts and that a local client can join. Only then expose it to the Internet. For managed hosting, upload the same server ZIP and follow the provider’s Java and startup controls, but retain your own downloadable backups.
Install the OmniFactory server pack
- Create a dedicated live folder. Use a simple path such as a folder named
OmniFactory-Serverin a location reserved for servers. Keep backups in a different location so deleting or replacing the live folder cannot remove every copy. - Download the matching archive. On the CurseForge files page, select Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip. Check that the listing identifies Minecraft 1.12.2 and Forge before downloading. Do not substitute the client pack.
- Extract the ZIP into the live folder. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the pack. Avoid nesting the files several levels deep, because launch scripts can expect to run beside the Forge files.
- Read the included instructions. Open the README and launch files before renaming anything, moving libraries or changing arguments. Script names and generated-file expectations can vary by pack release.
- Check Java from the server directory. Open a terminal in the extracted folder and run
java -version. Compare the result with the Java release recommended by the pack or launcher for Minecraft 1.12.2. If the command is not found, install the required Java runtime or correct your system PATH before continuing. - Install or run the supplied Forge files. Follow the pack’s included script or instructions. If the package includes a Forge installer or a generated launch command, use those files rather than downloading an unrelated Forge build. The exact script and JAR filename are release-dependent.
On Windows, right-clicking the folder and choosing the terminal option is a convenient way to ensure commands execute in the correct directory. On Linux or macOS, change into the folder with cd /path/to/OmniFactory-Server before running the supplied command. Replace that example path with your actual folder; do not run the server from a home directory containing unrelated files.
Complete the first launch and EULA step
The first start is intentionally a two-stage process. Forge and Minecraft generate the EULA file and other directories before the server can remain online.

- ULTIMATE COLLECTION — Includes Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition, five Bedrock add-ons, five exclusive Character Creator items, and 1000 Minecoins.
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.
- SURVIVE THE ADVENTURE — Face mysterious foes, travel across exciting landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.
- PLAY TOGETHER — Play cross-platform with friends in Bedrock Edition on console, mobile, and PC, or join community servers in Java Edition on PC, Mac, and Linux. Online console multiplayer requires a platform-specific subscription (sold separately).
- Start once with the supplied launcher. Run the pack’s startup script or command exactly as documented. Wait for the process to create its generated files. A first run can stop because the EULA has not yet been accepted; that is expected.
- Stop cleanly. Use the console’s normal stop command or the method documented by the pack. Avoid killing the process while files are being written, especially if a world folder has appeared.
- Open
eula.txt. Read the Minecraft EULA. Changeeula=falsetoeula=trueonly if you accept its terms. This is an explicit acceptance, not a setting to enable blindly. - Start the server again. Use the same supplied script or command. Keep the console visible until Forge finishes loading and reports that the server is ready for connections.
Do not delete the generated files when troubleshooting unless the pack instructions specifically call for it. A missing library, a wrong Java runtime or an incomplete extraction can look similar to an EULA problem, but each requires a different fix.
Configure the world and server properties
Once the second launch completes, stop the server cleanly before editing configuration. Open server.properties in a plain-text editor and change only the settings you understand. Save the file, then restart the server so it reloads the values.
World identity and gameplay
- World name: Set the world directory name before creating a new world. Changing it later can make the original world appear to be missing, so back up first.
- Difficulty: Choose the difficulty your group wants. Confirm it after restarting because another configuration or command can override expectations.
- Whitelist: Enable the whitelist for a private group and add players through the console or the documented administrative method. Test with an account that is intentionally allowed and one that is not.
- View distance: Start conservatively and increase it only after observing CPU, memory and tick behavior. Modded chunk generation can be substantially heavier than vanilla exploration.
- Port: Keep the default if it is free, or choose another unused port. If the port changes, players must use the corresponding address and port, and any firewall or router rule must match it.
Make a dated copy of the world and configuration before changing generation, difficulty, ports or pack files. Never treat a configuration edit as a substitute for a backup.
Allow connections safely
Local-network test
Run a client on the same network first. Start the OmniFactory client profile with the same 1.3.2 pack release and compatible Forge setup, then connect using the server computer’s local address and configured port. Join, move around, open machines and leave normally. This test isolates pack and Java problems from router and Internet problems.

Remote-player access
For players outside your network, allow the server’s listening port through the host operating system firewall and configure router port forwarding to the server computer’s local address. The exact screens differ by router and operating system, so record the rule’s protocol, external port and internal destination. If your Internet connection uses changing public addresses, give players the current address through a method you control.
- Do not expose administrative services or remote-desktop ports just to make Minecraft work.
- Use the whitelist for a private server and give operator privileges only to trusted accounts.
- Test from a genuinely external connection, such as a player’s home network or mobile hotspot; connecting from inside the same LAN may not test router loopback behavior.
If remote access fails while the local test works, inspect the firewall, forwarding rule, public address and ISP restrictions before reinstalling the pack.

Version alignment is the most common preventable source of “missing mods” and registry errors. Every player should install the OmniFactory 1.3.2 client profile, Minecraft 1.12.2 and a Forge configuration compatible with the server files. A player who has a newer or older pack release, a manually removed mod or a different configuration can fail during the handshake even when the server is healthy.
- Have the player install the pack through the launcher or distribution method used by your group.
- Verify the displayed pack version before launching.
- Do not add, remove or replace mods unless the server administrator has made the same controlled change on the server and every client.
- Connect to the tested address and port only after the local server test succeeds.
Keep a copy of the server ZIP and a note of the Forge configuration used. That record makes it possible to restore a client after a launcher update or a mistaken mod change.

Troubleshoot common startup and connection failures
The terminal says Java is not found
java -version must work from the server directory. Install the Java release identified by the pack or launcher for Minecraft 1.12.2, then reopen the terminal so PATH changes take effect. If multiple Java installations exist, make sure the launch script invokes the intended one; do not assume the system’s newest Java is compatible.
The server stops immediately after launch
- Read the last console lines and the generated log before trying random changes.
- Confirm that you extracted the complete server ZIP and did not run a client-only file.
- Run the supplied script from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly.
- Check that the Java release matches the pack’s guidance and that the operating system can write to the folder.
- If the stop is an EULA message, perform the first-launch sequence and set
eula=trueonly after reading the terms.
“Missing mods” or registry mismatch during login
Compare the client’s pack release, Minecraft version, Forge profile and mod files with the server. Reinstalling the exact client pack is often safer than copying individual JARs. Do not “fix” the error by deleting a server mod unless the pack instructions explicitly identify it as optional.
The server loads but nobody can connect
Try the host computer first, then another device on the same LAN. If local connections work, check the listening port, firewall rule, router forwarding and public address. If local connections fail too, inspect the console for a bind error, a wrong port in server.properties or a startup process that never reached the ready state.
World or configuration changes cause a new world to appear
Stop the server, restore the last known-good backup and verify the world name in server.properties. Keep the old world untouched until the restored copy has been tested. Do not repeatedly launch with different world names while trying to locate the original; each launch can create another directory.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Backups, upgrades and routine administration
Before upgrading OmniFactory, changing Forge files, editing world-generation settings or changing major server properties, stop the server and make a separate backup of the world, configuration files and the server ZIP used to install that version. Label backups with the pack release and date. A backup that cannot be restored is not a backup, so periodically test opening a copy on a separate directory or machine.
Apply updates as a controlled change: record the current version, duplicate the live server, install the new files into the duplicate, and test with a matching client before switching players over. Never overwrite the only working copy. Keep the previous server directory until the new release has survived a connection and gameplay test.
A practical launch checklist
- Dedicated live folder created; backups stored elsewhere.
- Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip downloaded and extracted intact.
- README and launch scripts read before renaming or moving files.
- Java checked with
java -versionand matched to pack/launcher guidance for Minecraft 1.12.2. - Forge files started from the server directory.
- First launch completed, process stopped cleanly and EULA accepted in
eula.txt. - Second launch reaches the ready state without missing-mod or Java errors.
server.propertiesreviewed for world name, difficulty, whitelist, view distance and port.- Local client joins successfully.
- Firewall and router rules tested from an external connection, if remote players are required.
- Every player uses the same OmniFactory release, Minecraft version and compatible Forge client.
Final recommendation
For a dependable OmniFactory server, start with the exact 1.3.2 server archive, follow its supplied Forge launcher, use the Java release it specifies for Minecraft 1.12.2, and validate the server locally before configuring Internet access. Treat version alignment and tested backups as part of installation—not optional maintenance—because this expert pack’s mod and configuration dependencies make casual substitutions unreliable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is OmniFactory a vanilla Minecraft server pack?
No. It is an expert, tech-focused pack centered on GregTech Community Edition and runs on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge, so players need the matching modded client profile.
Can I use a different Forge build or Java version if the server starts?
Use the Forge files and Java release identified by the pack or launcher. A successful process start does not prove that a different build will let clients connect or that the world will remain stable.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What file should I give a managed hosting provider?
Use the matching Omnifactory 1.3.2 Server.zip, and confirm in advance that the provider accepts custom Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server ZIPs.
