For smooth gaming on an RX 9060 XT, start with a current compatible AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver, leave global graphics settings at Default or Quality, and tune each game separately. Add features such as Radeon Anti-Lag, upscaling, or AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) only when they solve a problem you can see or feel: steadier pacing, less input delay, fewer tears, or a higher displayed frame rate.
There is no single best preset for every game. Generated frames can raise the frame-rate counter, but they are not the same as frames rendered by the game, so judge motion and responsiveness as well as FPS.

1. Install a compatible driver and establish a clean baseline
AMD Adrenalin 26.8.1 lists RX 9060 Series graphics compatibility, but it is a dated release. Check AMD’s live driver download page for a newer compatible version before installing. The 26.8.1 release notes list Windows 11 21H2 and later and Windows 10 64-bit 21H2 and later, subject to product support; consult the notes and installation instructions for the driver you choose: AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.8.1 Release Notes.
After installation, begin with the Adrenalin Default or Quality graphics profile rather than applying a collection of global overrides. AMD describes profiles as predefined groups of graphics settings that can be customized. Menu names and available controls can vary with driver version and configuration; AMD’s graphics profile guide and graphics settings guide explain the options.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
2. Match the game and display before changing performance features
Set the monitor to its intended refresh rate in Windows and choose the matching display mode and resolution in the game. Start at the game’s native resolution. If tearing appears, compare the game’s VSync option with AMD Enhanced Sync. VSync synchronizes the game’s frame rate to the monitor’s refresh rate; Enhanced Sync is designed to reduce tearing without limiting frame rates. Neither is automatically best for every combination of latency, pacing, and tearing, so compare them in the game you play.
3. Choose the right upscaling path
Try the game’s FSR option first
FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is integrated into supported games, and its availability and options depend on the title. If a game offers FSR, test its quality modes at your chosen resolution and check image quality in motion as well as performance.

Use RSR only when it fits the game
Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) is a driver-based upscaler. It may be useful when a game lacks a suitable in-game upscaler, but verify the feature’s resolution requirements in the installed Adrenalin version and inspect the result in that game. Avoid enabling multiple scaling paths without confirming which one is active. AMD distinguishes driver-level RSR from game-integrated FSR in its HYPR-RX overview and graphics settings guide.

4. Decide whether HYPR-RX is available and useful
HYPR-RX is a convenient way to apply a group of AMD gaming features where the profile is offered, but do not assume every RX 9060 XT installation has the same HYPR-RX switch. AMD’s HYPR-RX product page describes GPU requirements as RX 7000 Series or newer, while its June 19, 2025 graphics-profile FAQ says the profile introduced in Adrenalin 25.6.1 was then supported only on RX 9070 Series. Because those statements differ, check the profiles shown in your installed software. If HYPR-RX is absent, configure the available global or per-game controls instead. See AMD’s HYPR-RX page and profile FAQ.

If the profile is available, treat it as a starting point, not a guaranteed best preset. Its feature combination and effect depend on the game and configuration. Compare it with the baseline in the same scene, resolution, and display mode, considering frame pacing, input feel, image quality, motion artifacts, tearing, and—if relevant—power, heat, or noise.
AMD’s May 2025 RX 9060 XT 16GB demonstration reported these native 1440p versus HYPR-RX results. The HYPR-RX configurations used upscaling plus AFMF 2.1; AMD specified FSR 2 Performance for Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3, and FSR 4 Performance for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The test system used a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32 GB DDR5-6000, Windows 11 Pro, and driver 25.5.1. These are vendor results under those particular test conditions, not a forecast for every PC.

5. Tune Anti-Lag for responsiveness
Radeon Anti-Lag is aimed at reducing the delay between an input and its visual response. AMD says it dynamically adjusts frame timing and works best in GPU-limited scenarios. Enable it for a game where responsiveness matters, then compare input feel rather than expecting a universal improvement. AMD documents both global and application-profile controls, so use the per-game profile for exceptions instead of changing every title. See AMD’s Anti-Lag, Boost, and Chill guide.

AFMF 2.1 generates frames through the driver and can increase displayed frame rates. AMD documents support for borderless full screen and Vulkan and OpenGL games, but actual compatibility and results depend on the game and system. Establish a playable baseline first; then compare AFMF on and off in the same scene. Look for motion artifacts and changes in responsiveness, not just a larger FPS number. AMD’s RX 9060 XT demonstration shows results in three named games under specific settings, not a universal benefit. Feature details are on AMD’s HYPR-RX and AFMF overview.

7. Use Boost and Chill only for the goal they serve
Radeon Boost trades image detail for performance
In supported games, Radeon Boost can dynamically change resolution in response to input. A higher minimum resolution-change value can improve performance during movement, with a potential image-quality cost. Try it only if the visual tradeoff is acceptable in that title.
Radeon Chill prioritizes power and heat
Chill regulates frame rate based on user input to conserve power and reduce heat. That can suit a quieter or lower-power setup, but it may work against a goal of maximizing FPS. AMD describes both controls in its Anti-Lag, Boost, and Chill guide and graphics settings guide.
8. Make changes one game at a time
- Choose one game and record its current Adrenalin profile values.
- Keep the same scene, resolution, and display mode while comparing the baseline, HYPR-RX if available, and any custom profile.
- Change one setting at a time—such as Anti-Lag, an upscaler, AFMF, or sync—and assess pacing, responsiveness, image quality, tearing, and any relevant power or heat difference.
- If the game develops instability or image artifacts, restore that game’s profile defaults and retest before changing another setting.
AMD’s guides describe application profiles that can inherit global settings or override them per title: application profiles and gaming features and graphics settings.
