Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo set up a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 on Android, open SmartThings, activate the tag, select the device when the app detects it, and follow the on-screen prompts. Samsung’s published pairing guides cover earlier SmartTag models, not a SmartTag3-specific screen sequence, so use the current prompts in your app and check the tag’s package instructions for its activation step.
Before you begin
- Open or update the SmartThings app on your Android phone and sign in if the app asks you to.
- Have the SmartTag3 and its packaging nearby. Samsung’s SmartTag2 instructions say to remove the battery isolation film or insert the battery, then press the tag button; the tag sounds when it is ready. For SmartTag3, follow the activation instructions included with the product.
SmartTag3 was announced on September 30, 2026. Samsung said availability would begin in Korea on October 7, followed by the United States, with additional markets to follow in 2027. Availability may therefore depend on your region and date. Samsung Global Newsroom announcement

Pair the SmartTag3 in SmartThings
- Activate the tag according to the instructions in its package.
- Wait for SmartThings to detect it. When the detected-device prompt appears, choose Add and follow the app’s instructions.
- If prompted, confirm pairing by pressing the tag button, then choose a room or location for the device.
- When setup finishes, check that the tag appears among your SmartThings devices and open the app’s finding interface to confirm it is available.
Samsung documents these pairing steps for related SmartTag models; the exact SmartTag3 labels and screens have not been specified in those support guides. The app’s current prompts should take precedence over the labels above. See Samsung Gulf’s SmartTag2 pairing guide and Samsung U.S. support for SmartTag and SmartTag+.

- Check that the tag has been activated as described on its packaging.
- Scan the QR code on the product box if your SmartThings app offers that option.
- Alternatively, use the manual add-device route documented for related models: Devices → + → Add device → Samsung → Tag/Tracker.
Menu names can differ by app version and device model. If these labels do not match your screen, use the closest add-device option offered in SmartThings and follow its prompts.

Android compatibility and finding features
Samsung describes SmartTag3’s core location checking, sharing, and Search Nearby features as compatible with Galaxy and iOS devices. That does not mean every feature works on every Android phone. Compass View has separate requirements: a Galaxy device running Android 12 or later with UWB or Bluetooth Channel Sounding support. Check your phone’s specifications and the current SmartThings feature prompts before relying on Compass View. Samsung Newsroom U.S. announcement
SmartTag3 design and accessories
Samsung says SmartTag3 is approximately 35% smaller by volume and approximately 33% lighter than the previous generation; the weight comparison is based on the respective product weights. Samsung also announced a Silicone Case with keyring and a Loop Case. Samsung Global Newsroom announcement
