To set up a REDMI Pad 2 9.7 for gaming, first identify whether yours is the Wi-Fi or 4G model, install available tablet and game updates, then configure each game’s own graphics and frame-rate options. Open Game Turbo if it is available on your software version, but do not expect the 120 Hz screen to make every game run at 120 frames per second.
1. Confirm which REDMI Pad 2 you have
This guide is for the 9.7-inch REDMI Pad 2, not Xiaomi’s separate 11-inch REDMI Pad 2. Check the model name in your tablet’s Settings and determine whether it is the Wi-Fi or 4G version. Xiaomi’s gaming support information differs between those variants, and specifications can also vary by market.

Xiaomi says the first batch of both 9.7-inch versions shipped with HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16. Your tablet may have a later build or a different regional rollout, so check its installed software before following any version-specific menu directions.
2. Update the tablet and games
- Open the tablet’s built-in system updater from Settings and check for an available software update. Menu labels may differ by software version.
- Open the app store you use, visit each game’s page, and install any available update.
- Restart the tablet if an update requests it, then launch the game again.
Updating is a sensible first step when setting up or troubleshooting a game, but an update is not a guarantee of higher frame rates or better performance.

3. Connect using your most reliable network
For online play, connect to a Wi-Fi network with a strong, stable signal. Xiaomi’s Colombia specification lists Wi-Fi 5 with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz support, subject to regional availability and network compatibility. Choose the band that works reliably where you play; the band alone does not guarantee lower ping.
The 4G model can connect over cellular, but coverage, latency, and data costs depend on your carrier, plan, location, and signal. Xiaomi’s cited specifications do not establish a particular carrier experience.

4. Open Game Turbo if it is available
Xiaomi confirms Game Turbo support for the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 Wi-Fi and 4G models. Open the feature available on your installed software version and check whether your games appear. Xiaomi’s FAQs do not establish one dependable menu path or a list of controls available on every software build, so avoid assuming that a particular toggle is present.

5. Set graphics and frame rate in each game
Start with the game’s own defaults
Launch a game and begin with its default or balanced graphics setting. If you notice stuttering, try reducing graphics quality or visual effects in that title’s settings. This is a cautious troubleshooting approach, not a tested best preset for this tablet.
Use a higher frame-rate option only when offered
Choose a high-frame-rate option only if the game itself offers it and play remains stable. Xiaomi’s global product page describes a 9.7-inch 2048 × 1280 display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz in compatible apps and games. That is the display’s capability, not a promise that a game will render at 120 frames per second.

The supported modes Xiaomi names are specific to variant and game: its non-4G FAQ lists up to 60 Hz high-definition mode for HOK and LOL, while its 4G FAQ lists up to 60 fps for LOLM and MLBB. These are not universal limits or guarantees for other games. Xiaomi also says neither 9.7-inch variant supports game super resolution or game frame insertion. See Xiaomi’s REDMI Pad 2 9.7 FAQ and REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G FAQ for the variant-specific details.

Touch controls are the simplest option. If you prefer a controller, Bluetooth 5.0 is listed in Xiaomi’s Colombia specifications, but that does not certify a particular controller or guarantee that a game accepts controller input. Check the game’s own input support and the controller’s Android compatibility before relying on it.

The Colombia specification also lists a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Because this is a regional specification, check your exact tablet’s hardware before buying or recommending wired headphones. Bluetooth audio is another option, subject to the headset and game you use.
7. Keep battery and comfort expectations realistic
Xiaomi lists a typical 7600 mAh battery for the 4G product page and 18 W charging in its Colombia specifications. Those are manufacturer capacity and charging figures, not measurements of gaming runtime. Actual battery life depends on the game, display settings, network, and use, so no gaming-hours estimate follows from the capacity alone.
Adjust brightness and take breaks as needed for comfortable play. The cited specifications do not establish a gaming runtime or a temperature outcome while charging and playing at the same time.
